So for Days Thursday and Friday did not count therefore the major drop if for the first three days of the week ? I am right ?

    • Philip

That is hard to say. Some weeks in the past when the two days were taken off Days ratings increased. Other times they didn’t. To have been up Days would have had to have really high ratings on Thursday and Friday. Typically Friday is the lowest day of the week now for soaps. Days has bucked that trend for 2 weeks in a row. Since they didn’t air it is hard to say what would have happened.

      • Lucy

yep but it seems it was up for the last day counted (aka Wednesday) so if thurdsay and friday had aired with some 1.9 or even 1.8 the drop would not have been that abysmal, no ?!

        • Philip

They would have had to gotten at least 3 million viewers or over for the drop to not have been that abysmal.

Even if it had been around the same or a little over what Wednesday was they would have been in the 2.6 million viewer range which would have still put them down by 300,000 or more.

Remember last week Days had 2 days where it was right at 3 million viewers. They actually lost over 400,000 viewers from the beginning of the week. So technically they lost those viewers last week. A few of them tuned back in during the week, but tuned right back out.

            get it, thanks

You mean to tell me that the great and powerful Roger Howarth being on every single day with this great story written by the wonderful savior Ron Carlavati didn’t get GH over 3 million viewers. This story is so great and Howarth has more fans than any other actor ever in the history of soaps. These ratings have got to be wrong. There is no way that the whole world didn’t tune in to see the great Franco being transformed into the savior of Port Charles.

    • Bex

If the writing isn’t there, it doesn’t matter how great the actors are – which is really a shame because Roger is quite good. They should have made him a real Quartermaine, or even better a Cassadine. Him and Helena going at it would have been nice.

  • Bex

I see GH still hasn’t connected the dots. Not even Maura West can turn that ship around.

  • LoyalFan50yrs

How do they not count 50 and older??/?

    • philip

They do count 50 and older. They are part of the extra viewers that make up the total viewers. They just don’t separate them.

I’m not surprised at all by GH’s numbers. As a soap watcher, one thing I care about is character/soap history and I always find it insulting to my intelligence when character/soap history is not honored and we as a viewer are basically told what we saw before no longer matters because this is what the show wants you to believe now. This is what GH has done to a larger degree of anything I have ever experienced when it came to a soap. I watched the Franco s/l from the beginning when JF played him. I saw him kill people with no remorse but w/ glee, I saw him gloat about Michael’s rape, I saw him gloat over all the horrible things he’s done & now that RH is playing Franco, we’re supposed to forget all that & he’s just a misunderstood guy. That just doesn’t work for me. They could have Anthony Hopkins playing Franco & it still wouldn’t work for me. On top of that RH is not playing anything close to JF’s Franco. He’s playing Todd who is playing Franco. I hate to break it to GH writers, but viewers are not going to turn into a show that insults viewers’ intelligence on a constant basis. For me, to have this character on everyday skipping around town with this constant smug look on his face throwing out cheap one liners while people of Port Charles is either making excuses for him, kissing his behind, or tolerating him is insulting THIS viewer’s intelligence.

I agree. And I hate how Michael and AJ are being made to look like buffoons to make Franco look good. And I am just waiting for someone to be de-Quartermained so that the Michael and Kiki romance can play out. Either Michael or AJ will most likely find out they aren’t Quartermains at all cause I doubt Ron C. will make his creation Franco not a Quartermain. He will be the prize heir to the fortune. It is sickening.

Totally, agree with your statement. I have been watching GH for nearly 37 years and this is the worse I have ever seen. RH is still acting like Todd not a Franco. ME’s character is not cutting it for me. He just do not fit in his new role in my opinion. What is a Kiki? I have tried and tried and tried to watch them but I can’t. All I see is Todd, Starr, and Mcbain. So I FF their scenes which leaves little room for me to watch anymore.

The core problem to me with this story is while i am not against any redemption arc for some very dark character, in this case it is too much too soon and too quickly..and so it appears more like some WTF whitewashing than a complex and deep redempting arc..In just a week Franco’s bad deeds are just evaporated because he did not mean bad..well it is straight and lazy bad writing. As for RH playing Franco like Todd, i agree..the actor is full of charisma and can play comedy timing to a T but yeap it is kind of lazy..but i am also able to enjoy his Todd’ like scenes..well well well to me FV and RC screwed up a bit with this..maybe they will be able to improve it, who knows but this redemption was really too quick to say the least.

Disappointing to see such a big drop in total viewers for DAYS this week. However, they did still manage to beat GH in the all important 18-49 demo. Also, they seem to be keeping the show exciting and fast paced even though the sweeps period is over. Kristen, who is so fun to watch, is now going after Father Eric with a vengeance while Brady is unsuccessfully trying to get over her by sleeping with Nicole! Sami being charged with murder for saving Rafe is interesting and JJ making life miserable for Jennifer and Daniel is showing promises of a good story. If the producers and writers can sustain their current level of performance, I have total confidence the ratings will soon rise again or at least remain stable. I’m also curious to see if their well deserved Emmy award for Outstanding Daytime Drama will help the show spike in the ratings…I hope so! Congratulations DAYS on the Emmy win!!! Keep up the good work!!!

Emmys doesn’t do anything rating wise, emmys are above all a way to be praised (in a fair or non fair way..) by their peers and in order to auto-congratulate themselves.. That being said i agree with you about Days and hope they will get better ratings next time.
