Like excepted the nurse ball and vet’s coming back bring some great ratings for GH so it is good but at the end of the week ratings dropped..why ?

Nurses Ball will really show up in the ratings released next week. These ratings are for the week before the anniversary (March 25-29th).

Nurses ball did start this week i a way with episodes where they rehearse the nurses ball already..and actually it was in the episodes at the end of the week were ratings dropped..and if your theory of ‘normal drop as people start taping and planning to watch over the week end’ for the last days of the week’ was accurate it would the case where ratings always dropped at the end of every weeks, we don’t see that..but you right..GH was not the only soap doing that Days also dropped majorly at the end of the week so i don’t know..what happened..

  • WMD

What happened on Monday? Each show (except Days) posted a really high number on that day, only to fall back. (And this is still for the week before the GH 50th, so it can’t be that.)

They were great cliffhangers and action episodes the last day of the week before, well for on GH and Y&R. On Days nothing really important happened (well except major angst for Daniel/Jennifer but yep..no comment..lol..it is not ‘full of suspense tv’ to say the least and full of action episodes..with major drama) so ratings are quite weak compare to other soaps, understandable imo.

    Way to go Y&R…

    Yes g/h :)

Wow GH started the week like a lion and ended a kitten. What a big drop from start to end of the week.

Between the 2 shows celebrating anniversaries, Y&R comes out the big winner budget wise and ratings wise. Y&R has done a low key anniversary featuring some history and vets and low key stories. And with very little publicity. Y&R has been steadily increasing and for the last 2 weeks have been up.

GH has thrown out everything and the kitchen sink. Big splashy returns of the vets complete with big press hoopla and lots of publicity. Every soap opera press person goes on and on about it. For all the publicity and the amount of money spent, they really have not had that big of a ratings gain during all this. If they don’t get some soon, I bet the amount of vets we keep or ever get back will be minimal. ABC will use these lackluster ratings to prove that no one wants the vets. When to me the vets being on is not the problem. To me the stories these vets have been involved in are just lackluster and uninteresting. I haven’t enjoyed them at all. And don’t even get me started on the new golden story for this show…the Sabrina story. I hate it and I hate Sabrina. Everytime I hear over and over every character seem to go on and on about how good she, how sweet she is, blah blah blah…..I definitely know that I do not want to ever visit Port Charles or be a patient there. These folks definitely don’t know what they are doing. Maybe someone is still poisoning the water or these are the after effects.

Congrats to all the soaps being up from last year.

Ah ah you are seriously ‘team Y&R’ ! For my part i enjoy GH for the most part, the pacing is fast (i like that) they are lot’s of cliffhangers, actions and the vets coming back is fun with lot’s of different character’s interactions. On the other hand there is maybe too much characters now which make the overall show kind of all over the place, the stories seem for the most part a repeat of old stories, scenes are so short they become pretty superficial and there is not real fallout for any of these stories, it is like that : ok climax then move on like nothing happened..weird and anticlimatic..so in my book i enjoy GH but it is not must see tv either. It is a quite enough fun soap but that is all.

Part of the problem is vet availability… Jack Wagner, in particular, only signed up for 10 episodes. You can’t do much with that. As for the rest of them, I doubt they come cheap, and ABC isn’t going to take a huge loss on the show just to see what happens. I won’t say that’s the only reason though…yes, they could have managed it better. Days fell into the same trap in ’09.

The Y&R 40th anniversary was better than the GH 50th anniversary. Very impressed of Y&R being up the biggest from last year.

  • Jonathan

Every week I’m amazed how every soap is up year to year.Y&R has finally stop the bleeding and gaining back the viewers they lost.
