(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Could “One Life to Live” be on the verge of getting a new opening? Erika Slezak (Viki) discusses the possibility in her latest online fan club newsletter.

In the November edition of her newsletter Slezak was asked by her fan club president Walter Miller if she had shot any new pictures for “OLTL’s” opening sequence, which hasn’t been overhauled since 2004. Although the longtime vet stated that she hadn’t, she did hint at the fact that a new or updated opening may be in the offing for the ABC soap.

According to Slezak, “I think Frank [Valentini] is doing a new opening, but I’m not sure whether he is going to replace pictures. You know what? It all costs money.”

So perhaps “OLTL” will go the “General Hospital” route and get a somewhat revamped opening sequence (updated graphics and pictures with the same music). Or at the very least it appears that, if nothing else, we can expect an updated opening with new contract cast members added and the removal of those no longer on the show.

On a related note, the six-time Daytime Emmy winner reveals that Valentini is apparently finally making good on his promise to film new bumpers for every contract cast member, stating that, while she hasn’t taped one yet, “we’re going to be shooting those.”

In addition, Slezak also notes that her co-star Brian Kerwin (Charlie) will be taking a hiatus from “One Life to Live” from mid-December through the end of January to perform in a play in San Diego. However, Charlie fans shouldn’t fear because Slezak notes that he will pre-tape additional scenes before he leaves for the West Coast, as well as post-tape scenes when he returns to the set.

Lastly, she confirms that she recently had a pre-cancerous lesion removed from her forehead, hence Viki’s explanation to Dorian in a recent scene on the show about why she had a band-aid over her eye.

In other news…

James Saito plays Judge Lee on January 3rd and 4th.

Upcoming airdates for Josh Wesley Shipp (Eddie) in the coming weeks include November 24th, 29th, and 30th, as well as December 1st, 2nd, 7th, 8th, 10th, 13th, 14th, 15th, and 17th. Also look for Nic Robuck (James) on November 24th and 30th as well as December 1st and 2nd, among other dates.

Kassie DePaiva (Blair) had nothing but good things to do about her day working with Kourtney Kardashian on set, tweeting “Kourtney is really sweet…and she is beautiful too! David [Fumero] and I had a good time working with Kourtney. She worked really hard and I think her fans will love her debut as a daytime diva. She was a delight.”

“OLTL” Music Director Paul Glass tweets that the song Kelley Missal (Dani) sung during the November 11th episode “is not commercially available.”

And Brittany Underwood (Langston) comments that she was on set Thursday, as were David A. Gregory (Ford) and Nic Robuck (James), and posted this picture of the guys relaxing in her and co-star Kristen Alderson‘s (Starr) dressing room.

    Aiden Turner

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — As previously reported, Aiden Turner,  Stephen Amell and Liam McIntyre were up for the role of Spartacus in the Starz original series "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" after series star Andy Whitfield was unable to return to work on the shows second season when he learned his cancer had returned. Now Deadline.com is reporting that neither of the actors vying for the part got the role.

The decision comes as a surprise after the network went through all that trouble in flying all three to New Zealand to screen test and meet with the shows cast and crew.

Despite no actor being offered the role, however, Deadline says that Starz has opted to hold onto McIntyre, while releasing Amell and Turner. The networks decision to hold onto McIntyre theoretically means he will eventually land the role, but according to reporter Nellie Andreeva, Starz is still looking into all options including the possibility of ending the series or bringing in someone entirely new.

Whitfield was diagnosed with Stage 1 non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in early March when "Spartacus" was in pre-production, but was in remission and training hard for the series' second season. In September, Starz announced that the actor was advised by his doctors to immediately resume aggressive treatment for a recurrence of cancer, which caused him to drop out of 'Spartacus.'

"It's with a deep sense of disappointment that I must step aside from such an exceptional project as 'Spartacus' and all the wonderful people involved. It seems that it is time for myself and my family to embark on another extraordinary journey. Thank you sincerely for the support so far," said Whitfield at the time.

"Spartacus: Blood and Sand" averaged 980,000 viewers through out the course of its 13 episode first season earlier this year.

Turner became a household name in March of this year when he joined the cast of "Dancing with the Stars" for the shows tenth season. He performed alongside Edyta Sliwinska. The duo were eliminated during the shows third week. The actor starred on "All My Children" from June 2002 through December 2009.

Stephen Amell portrayed the role of Adam in the first season of the here! series "Dante's Cove." He was replaced in season two with actor Jon Fleming. McIntyre most recently appeared on the HBO series "The Pacific" and is best known for his role in the hit Australian series "Neighbours."

"Spartacus: Blood and Sand" is scheduled to return to the airwaves with its second season in September 2011. "Spartacus: Gods of the Arena," a prequel to "Blood and Sand" debuts in January 2011.

Thursday, November 11, 2010 at 3:00 AM ET by Angela Rosa

      Photo: Lou Rocco/ABC

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) – “All My Children” is ending November Sweeps with two explosive moments sure to leave a lasting mark on Pine Valley. (Do not continue reading this article if you’re spoiler-free!)

The November 16, 2010 issue of Soap Opera Digest elaborated on the news Soap Opera Network alluded to in our November PreVUE concerning a flight that ends in tragedy. On Thursday, November 18, viewers will see that the passenger on that ill-fated flight is Zach Slater.

Slater’s portrayer since April 2004, Thorsten Kaye, has not been able to commit to a return to the Los Angeles based “All My Children.” Kaye’s wife, two-time Daytime Emmy winner Susan Haskell, currently stars on New York based “One Life to Live.” The East coast based couple share two children. Kaye officially exited the role coinciding with “AMC’s” move West late last year but has returned for three short stints since. “AMC” Co-Head Writer Donna Swajeski tells SOD that while the door will always be open for Kaye, whose character’s body will be missing in the ashes of the upcoming disaster, they “had to close it for now.” The writers, who reveal they collaborated with Kaye on the exit, are of the belief that this is the best way to close the door, for now, on the extremely popular Zach and Kendall (Alicia Minshew) romance and open the door to a new chapter in the life and times of Erica Kane’s (Susan Lucci) first born. That future chapter includes a potential romance with Dr. Griffin Castillo; Emmy-winner Jordi Vilasuso debuts in the role of the cardiologist on Tuesday, November 16.

“Zendall” fans, who have been enjoying some ominous happy moments with their tortured couple, can catch some last glimpses of the pair through this week preceeding the former casino owner heading off on his ill-fated trip to help Ryan and Greenlee (Cameron Mathison and Rebecca Budig) clear their names in the demise of David Hayward (Vincent Irizarry).

Speaking of David Hayward; the verdict in his murder trial will be announced on Monday, November 22. Swajeski tells SOD that immediately following that announcement the actual (major) character responsible for David’s demise will reveal themselves in court in dramatic fashion. If, as many publications including SON believe, Irizarry’s lethal departure was little more than an elaborate stunt (like “OLTL’s” recent one with Tea Delgado and her portrayer Florencia Lozano) we suspect this is an episode that fans of the very bad David Hayward and the very good Vincent Irizarry won’t want to miss a minute of. Irizarry previously appeared in the role of David on September 24.

“All My Children” airs Weekdays on ABC. Anytime on ABC.com.
