(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — “One Life to Live” writes its only same-sex couple off into the sunset.

TV Guide’s Michael Logan is reporting that the ABC sudser has decided to axe cast members Brett Claywell (Kyle Lewis) and Scott Evans (Oliver Fish), whose characters are affectionately referred to as ‘Kish’ by “One Life” fans.

The news comes on the heels of several other recent cast firings, including Crystal Hunt (Stacy), Daphnee Duplaix (Rachel), and Scott Clifton (Schuyler). In addition, Amanda Setton (Kim) chose not to renew her contract, and Austin Williams (Shane) was bumped from contract to recurring status.

“OLTL” Executive Producer Frank Valentini comments that “We are concluding the story that we set out to tell with Kyle and Fish. We are very proud to have broken new ground with a same-sex couple on daytime.” However, it is rumored that the decision wasn’t an easy one for the show.

According to Logan, “Kish has been a big success with the media and the show’s gay fans, and gay-advocacy groups have showered OLTL with awards for creating the trail-blazing couple. But sources at the network say the duo failed to resonate with the mainstream audience. Ratings for the ABC soap were particularly dismal in late 2009 during the weeks that Fish came out of the closet and he and Kyle officially became a couple.”

Even though both characters are essentially being written out, they aren’t expected to completely leave the canvas. Instead, they will continue to reside in Llanview (albeit off-camera), in much the same way other several other characters (such as Larry Wolek, Andrew Carpenter, Miles Laurence) have faded into the background over the years. However, the soap hints at the possiblity that Evans may pop-up occassionally in the future, since Oliver Fish is a Llanview police officer, however, a spokesperson for the “One Life to Live” couldn’t make any guarentees.

Claywell and Evans are expected to air until mid-April. In the meantime, look for their story to climate beginning March 29th when Fish receives definite proof that Sierra Rose is his daughter, and he and Kyle are awarded full custody of the baby.

Scott Evans began his recurring role as Oliver Fish on January 15th, 2008.  Brett Claywell originated the contract role of Kyle Lewis on February 24th, 2009.

Llanview Gossip: March 10 Edition

Wednesday, March 10, 2010 1:00 AM ET | By Scotty Gore

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Roscoe Born makes a brief return, Scott Evans squashes rumors that he is leaving “One Life,” Scott Clifton comments on his recent firing, Brandon Buddy gets injured on the set, Kristen Alderson talks about what’s next for Starr, David Vickers returns, and two dayplayer roles play important parts in upcoming storylines, all in this and more in this edition of Llanview Gossip.

Although Roscoe Born may have only recently wrapped up his latest short-term stint on “One Life to Live” as cult leader Mitch Laurence, at least one report has him back at the studio’s taping additional scenes. According to The Suds Report, the actor was back at “One Life” a couple of weeks ago to help wrap up the Mitch storyline.

Scott Evans‘ Twitter comments left many fans wondering if the popular actor, who portrays Oliver Fish, was planning on leaving Llanview in the near future. On March 1st Evans tweeted that “I have some pretty big decisions to make. Things are definitely gonna change.” He clarified the matter a few days later, assuring fans that “I have no plans to leave OLTL everyone. It’s not even really in my hands!” In addition, there is speculation that Evans, who is on recurring status with “OLTL,” recently auditioned for the CBS television pilot “Reagan’s Law,” while on a recent trip to Los Angeles.

As SON told you yesterday, Scott Clifton (Schuyler) was released from his contract by “One Life.” Soon after the story broke, Clifton took to his Twitter page. Responding to the news, he told fans that “Hey guys, just want to let you know the rumors are true: I killed JFK. (Oh, wait, the OTHER rumor? Yeah that’s true too. ‘OLTL’ let me go.) Had a blast working on the show, with a KILLER conclusion. I really hope you guys keep watching ’cause I did some work I’m really proud of. So, a lot of questions about returning to ‘GH’ as ‘Dillon.’ I honestly think that’s up to them, but I’d be open to it. They’re like family. Otherwise, it’s gonna be about going back to my roots: Move to LA and audition my ass off. That’s where it’s at, man. Life’s a gamble.”

Brandon Buddy (Cole) suffered a minor injury to his right hand while taping scenes with Trevor St. John (Todd) on Tuesday, which left one of his knuckles rather swollen. Co-star Kristen Alderson (Starr) tweets that “haha that’s what’cha get after a todd&cole scene.” She also posted a picture of Buddy’s injured hand: http://twitgoo.com/k2nio

Alderson also previews what’s next for Starr, saying that “I’m really excited.. my scripts this week are really fun ; ) Starr’s striking back baby lol”

For those of you who just can’t get enough of Tuc Watkins (David Vickers Buchanan), the funny man returns once again on Wednesday, April 1st, and will interact with his uncle’s new bride.

Look for two important dayplayer roles the last full week of March. First, on Monday, March 22nd, a pizza delivery girl innocently tips off Starr that she saw Cole studying with Hannah in her dorm room. And on Friday, March 26th, look for Todd to attempt to bribe a prison guard, so that he and Kelly can question Mitch about her mother’s death.

In other news…

Saundra Santiago and Crystal Hunt were back as Carlotta Vega and Stacy Morasco’s spirit, respectively, on March 9th.

Look for Taylor Gildersleeve and Rachelle Wintzen to make their “OLTL” debuts as Kim’s stripper friends Leah and Laudine on Wednesday, March 10th.

Terrell Tilford (Greg) tweeted on March 5th that he just “Did an interview this am with S-O-D, should be out in a few weeks… In dressing room, shooting in abt 2 hrs.”

And “OLTL” Music Director Paul Glass tweets that “JARED LEE ‘Who Am I’ finally up on itunes!! Sorry for the delay.. ” The song was featured at the end of January 26th episode.

Thursday, March 9, 2010 6:55 PM ET | By Scotty Gore

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Thirteen-year-old Austin Williams is placed on recurring status with “One Life to Live.”

Soap Opera Digest is reporting that the teenage actor, who has portrayed Gigi and Rex’s son Shane Morasco on “OLTL” since October 2007, has been bumped from contract to recurring status with the ABC soap.

Prior to joining “OLTL,” Williams appeared in as a childhood version of Matt Damon’s character Edward Wilson in “The Good Shepherd,” and was nominated for a Young Artist Award for “Best Performance in a Feature Film – Young Actor Age Ten or Younger” in 2007 for his performance as Henry Clayton in the 2007 movie “Michael Clayton.”  He has also received Young Artist Award nominations for his work on “One Life to Live.”

Despite being on contract with “OLTL” since making his debut on the show, Williams has been used sparingly.  In 2009, he appeared in only 54 of the soap’s 250 new episodes that year.
