How WATCH ABC Changes Will Affect Viewing of ‘GH,’ ‘The View’ and ‘The Chew’; Shows Also on Hulu Plus

According to the Hollywood Reporter, former “General Hospital” star Marisa Ramirez (ex-Gia Campbell; ex-Carmen Mesta, “The Young and the Restless”) has been upped to series regular on CBS’ “Blue Bloods” beginning with the primetime shows fourth season premiering in the fall. Ramirez, who joined the show as a recurring guest-star starting with the Friday, March 8 episode entitled “Protest Too Much,” portrays Detective Maria Baez, the former and now full-time partner of Donnie Wahlberg‘s Detective Danny Raegan. The actress is replacing Jennifer Esposito, who portrayed Wahlberg’s onscreen partner, Jackie Curatola, on the drama series until November of last year.


Fans of “The Young and the Restless’” Jeanne Cooper (Katherine Chancellor) were kept in the loop about the actress’ illness and eventual passing by her son, Corbin Bernsen (“Psych”), and now the actor is set to speak out yet again on his mother’s tragic May 8 death.

To commemorate Cooper’s passing, Bernsen will be appearing on the Wednesday, June 5 episode of “Marie,” the Marie Osmond-hosted Hallmark Channel talk show, and two heart-wrenching clips from the episode have been released.

We may not envy the icy hearts of the characters on ABC’s “Revenge,” but their stellar wardrobes certainly leave us panting. Lucky for us — and fellow fans of the drool-worthy outfits put together by the show’s three-time Emmy nominated costume designer, Jill Ohanneson — the series’ clothing could be coming to a store near you!

According to Women’s Wear Daily, ABC Studios has joined forces with Matchbook Co., the company that represents Ohanneson, and together, they’ve teamed up with the alphabet network’s licensing agency, Firefly Brand Management, to create apparel and accessories inspired by the show.




“All My Children’s” Susan Lucci (ex-Erica Kane) has been given the moniker “Queen of Soaps,” but with some recent moves by the production team behind her new series, “Devious Maids,” she just may be called “Queen of Telenovelas,” too!

In order to appeal to a Latino audience, the pilot for the Marc Cherry and Eva Longoria (ex-Isabella Williams, “The Young and the Restless”) co-executive produced series — which was created by Cherry and is based on Televisa’s hit telenovela “Ellas Son La Alegría Del Hoga” — will be available via digital platforms prior to its Sunday, June 23 Lifetime premiere in both English and Spanish (meaning yes, we’ll get to see what it look like for Lucci to speak the language of love)! Plus, following the network premiere, each following episode of the show will be available in both languages on, Lifetime’s Video Watch app and A + E Network’s distribution partners’ Video On Demand services, sites and apps the day after its 10PM time slot.

Fans of “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” have learned to adapt to the dramatic twists and turns hitting their favorite returning “anytime” soaps, only they’ve been adapting more to the behind the scenes “drama” than they have been with what’s happening on screen. First it was the episode reduction (two episodes per week for each show instead of the previously scheduled four), then word FX Canada had dropped both shows from its lineup as a result of the episode reduction, and most recently word that head writers for both shows were released from their contracts and replaced with their script writers. Now, according to TheWrap, the latest drama is based on an apparent labor dispute between Prospect Park and I.A.T.S.E. (International Alliance of Theatrical and Stage Employees)/Local 52, the union representing stage workers for “AMC.”

In TheWrap‘s reporting, the publication indicates that Prospect Park is alleged to have gone over budget on certain episodes filmed for “AMC,” which as a result has violated the labor agreement between the production company and the union.

Fran Bascom, who had been nominated nine times for her work as a casting director at NBC’s “Days of our Lives” by the Casting Society of America, has died. After reportedly feeling under the weather late Sunday, June 2, Bascom was taken to Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, CA, where she died. A cause of death is not known at this time.

Former “DAYS” cast member, Farah Fath (ex-Mimi Lockhart; ex-Gigi Morasco, “One Life to Live”), and former “DAYS” head writer, Sheri Anderson, noted Bascom’s death on Twitter earler today.

Rest Peacefully, Fran. I’m forever grateful for you,” said Fath. Anderson tweeted, “Nothing but lovely memories of one of the sweetest and BEST casting directors in town. Rest in Peace, Fran.”

In addition to her casting work on “DAYS,” Bascom also cast for a number of TV movies and popular sitcom “Designing Women.”

Daytime Lineup Also Posts May Sweep Increases in Viewers and Key Demos

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS, THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL, LET’S MAKE A DEAL, THE PRICE IS RIGHT and THE TALK all finished the 2012-2013 season and May sweep with year-to-year growth in viewers.

 Compared to last season in viewers, LET’S MAKE A DEAL 1 was up +14% (2.69m from 2.36m), LET’S MAKE A DEAL 2 was up +13% (3.11m from 2.76m), THE PRICE IS RIGHT 1 was up +5% (4.48m from 4.27m), THE PRICE IS RIGHT 2 was also up +5% (5.33m from 5.08m), THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL posted an +8% gain (3.51m from 3.25m), THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS was up +0.5% (4.82m from 4.80m) while THE TALK posted growth of +10% (2.40m from 2.18m), according to Nielsen most current ratings.

Among key women demographics for the season, LET’S MAKE A DEAL 1 & 2 were up in both women 25-54 (+13%, +25% respectively) and women 18-49 (+17%, +14% respectively), THE PRICE IS RIGHT 2 gained +8% in women 25-55 while THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL was up +7% in women 25-54.

In the May sweep according to Nielsen live plus day ratings, CBS’s daytime lineup posted increases in viewers and/or key women demographics.

For the Week of May 20-24, ‘Days’ Jumps vs. the Same Week Last Year by 32 Percent in the Women 18-49 Demo and 34 Percent in the Women 25-54 Category

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – May 31, 2013 – “Days of our Lives” has equaled its biggest women 18-49 audience in 18 months and set an 11-week high in total viewers, according to “live plus same day” viewing figures for the week of May 20-24 from Nielsen Media Research.

For the week, “Days of our Lives” averaged a 1.0 rating, 6 share among women 18-49 and a 0.6 rating among women 18-34, tying it for #4 among network daytime series in the women 18-49 demographic and tying it for #3 in the women 18-34 race.

“Days” equaled its biggest women 18-49 audience (634,000) since the week of November 21-25, 2011 (703,000). “Days” also averaged 634,000 women 18-49 during the week of January 14-19, 2013. In total viewers, “Days’” 2.513 million persons for the week was the show’s biggest overall audience since the week of March 4-8 (2.563 million).

For the week versus the same week last year, “Days of our Lives” was up 14 percent in the women 18-34 race (200,000 vs. 175,000), up 32 percent in the women 18-49 demographic (634,000 vs. 480,000), up 34 percent in the women 25-54 race (788,000 vs. 590,000) and up 10 percent in total viewers (2.513 million vs. 2.294 million).

For the second quarter to date, “Days of our Lives” is up 3 percent in the women 18-49 category (632,000 vs. 611,000), up 8 percent in the women 25-54 demo (807,000 vs. 748,000) and up 3 percent in total viewers (2.6 million vs. 2.5 million).

Season to date, “Days of our Lives” is tied for #4 in the women 18-49 category and tied for #3 in the women 18-34 demo. Season to date, “Days” is up 2 percent in total viewers (2.7 million vs. 2.6 million).

Ratings reflect “live plus same day” data from Nielsen Media Research unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date figures are averages of “live plus seven day” data except for the two most recent weeks, which are “live plus same day.”
