ABC Daytime Sets its 'Revolution' in Motion

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — And so it begins. With only seven months until the long-running ABC serial “One Life to Live” gives way to “The Revolution,” a weight-loss show co-hosted by “Project Runway” emcee Tim Gunn, the network launches a series of auditions across the nation in search of women in need of shedding more than a few extra pounds and having their trials and tribulations play out on national television.

Producers for the show are “looking for inspirational and relatable women who are ready to lose 50-100 pounds and regain control of their lives.” According to an audition flyer released by ABC, the show will provide each woman chosen to appear on the show with a “trainer and nutrition plan to help you lose the weight within your own environment.”

Auditions will begin this Saturday, June 18 in Troy, Michigan, and will continue on Friday, June 24 in New York City and Saturday, June 25, in Los Angeles. Click here for more information, including times and locations in each city.

And, as if this wasn’t enough to curb your enthusiasm, 3 Ball Productions, the agency in charge of handling the audition for “The Revolution,” took out an ad earlier this month on Craigslist, targeting plus-sized women in America, who are suffering from low self-esteem.

The ad reads in part:

“Are you engaged and want to lose weight before your wedding? Do you want to lose weight before your husband returns from a deployment? Are you a mom with weight to lose who also happens to be a cook, chef or works in the school kitchen or restaurant, or own a restaurant of your own? Are you someone whose made a difference in your community and needs help losing weight? Are you a mother of twin, triplets, quadruplets or multiple kids and have your hands full…need someone to help you lose the weight and make time for you? Are you a nurse who group of nurses who want to lose weight? Are you a teacher or principal or school counselor with weight to lose? Are you a stay at home mom with weight to lose? If you answered yes to any of these, then this is your chance to turn it all around! Since you’ve been focusing on others, finally, here’s a show that is focusing on you!”

“The Revolution” debuts on January 23, 2012. “One Life to Live” airs its final episode the preceding Friday.
