(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Robert S. Woods signs a new deal with “One Life to Live” to keep Bo Buchanan in Llanview through 2014.

The 61-year-old Woods has portrayed the middle son of oil tycoon Asa Buchanan since 1979 (minus a two year stint from 1986-88). He also briefly took on the role or Patrick London on the show in 1988. In addition, he appeared as Bo on “Rosanne,” alongside his then-“One Life” co-stars Clint Ritchie (ex-Clint Buchanan) and John Loprieno (ex-Cord Roberts) in the 1994 episode titled “Isn’t it Romantic?.” And the actor took the character to Pine Valley for a handful of episodes of “All My Children” in 2005, as part of a completed baby switch storyline involving both soaps.

Outside of “One Life to Live,” Woods portrayed Paul Stewart on “Days of Our Lives” from 1986-87. Other television credits include guest appearances on “Newhart,” “The Waltons,” “War & Remembrance,” and the “CBS Summer Playhouse.”

A veteran of the Vietnam War, he was instrumental in convincing the soap to make Bo a veteran as well. Woods has received six Daytime Emmy nominations in the leading actor category, winning in 1983. He has also garnered numerous Soap Opera Digest Award nominations, and picked up four MVP trophies from Soap Opera Update.

Woods’ wife Loyita Chapel has appeared on “OLTL” in several roles, the most recent of which was Dallas Jones in 2008. And his son Tanner Woods appeared as a young Bo in 1968 flashbacks scenes, also in 2008.

With the news of Woods’ inking a new four-year deal with “One Life to Live,” it would appear as if rumors of the show’s impending cancellation may have been greatly exaggerated.
