It’s been a whopping seven years since larger-than-life personality Rosie O’Donnell has been a part of “The View,” but executive producers Barbara Walters and Bill Geddie announced today that the actress/comedian is returning to the popular talk show!
Scheduled guests for the week of DECEMBER 9-13 are as follows (subject to change):
On Monday, September 26, 2011, ABC premiered a new daytime talk show that brought food back to the table and into our everyday lives. Now in its third season, “The Chew” is currently enjoying one of its highest rated on record in both total viewers and key women sales demos. As the talk show celebrated its 500th episode yesterday, fans of the ABC version of “All My Children” continued to mourn the loss of their favorite daytime soap opera, which made Susan Lucci and her character Erica Kane a household name to mainstream viewers.
Yesterday marked the first day that “All My Children’s” Rebecca Budig (ex-Greenlee Smythe) served as the co-host of “The Better Show,” a syndicated talk show that just begun its seventh season. And while her debut was certainly exciting, things are just on the verge of heating up!
There’s a “The Young and the Restless” bonanza happening over at Hallmark’s ‘Marie,’ which not only featured the sudser’s Beth Maitland (Traci Abbott) on today’s episode, but will also feature Catherine Bach (Anita Lawson) tomorrow!
As we previously reported, daytime personality Meredith Vieira has a new talk show debuting next fall, and NBC just announced that it’s been sold to 10 of its owned television stations. Is your market included?
On the Friday, June 14 edition of “The Talk,” Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards co-host and Showbiz Tonight host, A.J. Hammer, stopped by CBS’ “The Talk” to chat with the ladies (Sharon Osbourne, Aisha Tyler, Sheryl Underwood, Julie Chen and Sara Gilbert) about daytime biggest event!
According to a report by FOX News, Disney/ABC Domestic Television might be looking to replace Katie Couric and her talker “Katie” just as the show gets ready to wrap its first season in July.
“While all television is going through a difficult time and programming is having a hard time finding its niche, Katie’s new talk show does not live up its expectations,” a source closely connected to the ABC show told FOX411’s Pop Tarts column. “Whatever constraints Katie experienced anchoring ‘Evening News’ [it is] certainly taking its toll, and her return to daytime has backfired.”
Has VH1 declared war on daytime? That’s what it seems, as the music network has added the talk show “Gossip Table” to its lineup, an addition that could give existing talk shows a run for their money!
Daytime legend Susan Lucci, who portrayed Erica Kane on all 41 years of “All My Children,” will be appearing on the Monday, February 25 edition of ABC’s “The View.” The actress is expected to sit down with the ladies to discuss her new Lifetime series “Devious Maids,” and the second season of her Investigation Discovery series “Deadly Affairs.”
According to a report by NBC New York and Gothamist.com, a staff member of ABC’s “The Chew” was murdered on Thursday, January 10 after being shot in the stomach near Macon Street and Throop Avenue in the Bed Stuy section of Brooklyn. Identified as Ivan Giovanettina, 41, the prop supervisor for the daytime talk show was taken to Kings County Hospital and pronounced dead. A recording of the suspected shooters was posted on YouTube in hopes of someone being able to help identify the perpetrators. The recording took place a few blocks away at Tompkins Avenue and Halsey Street. An arrest has yet to be made.
During its premiere week in the National ratings (w/o 09/03/12), the newly-rechristened “LIVE! with Kelly and Michael” finished as TV’s No. 1 syndicated talk show in Households (2.8 rating), Total Viewers (3.6 million) and Women 25-54 (1.5 rating).
During its second week up against season premieres of nearly every other syndicated talker, newly-rechristened “LIVE! with Kelly and Michael” finished as the No. 1 talk show overall in Households (leading the premiere week of “Ellen” by 2 shares and tied in rating – 2.8/10 vs. 2.8/8). Its top-ranked position becomes even more impressive considering “LIVE! with Kelly and Michael” airs earlier in the day with lower overall HUT levels.
Debuting amidst one of the most competitive landscapes in years for syndicated talkers, “Katie” opened as the clear No. 1 freshman daytime talk show, winning all 5 days of its opening week in Homes. On average during the week, “Katie” held wide advantages over its freshman competitors in both Households (2.3/7) and Women 25-54 (1.2/7), including “Steve Harvey” (+64%/+33%), “Jeff Probst” (+188%/140%) and “Ricki Lake” (+229%/+200%).
THE TALK Will Feature Appearances By Upcoming “Survivor: Philippines” Castaways, Medical Evacuees Michael Skupin, Jonathan Penner and Russell Swan, and Lisa Whelchel (Blair from “The Facts of Life”)
ABC’s “The Chew” returns for its second season MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 10 (1:00-2:00 p.m. ET), bringing with it a smorgasbord of exciting guests, culinary creations and tips and tricks to make life healthier, easier and, frankly, a whole lot more fabulous. Season Two will also continue to showcase the hosts’ signature series, including “Five in Five,” “Mario’s Simple Italian,” “The Power of Oz,” as well as “Clinton’s Craft Corner” and “C&C Food Factory.”
