Chapter 2 of ‘Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem’ Will Require Peacock Premium Plan – No Free Option

Yes, we can confirm that "Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem" (Chapter 2) will require a premium subscription to Peacock when the series returns in July.

Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem” will require a premium subscription to Peacock when the series returns for its second chapter in July, Soap Opera Network can confirm. This follows a decision in December 2021 by the streaming platform to require a premium subscription plan in order to view “Days of our Lives: A Very Salem Christmas,” the first-ever original Christmas movie featuring cast members from “Days of our Lives.” At launch, the first chapter of “Beyond Salem” was available for free. Currently, only the first episode can be viewed without a paid subscription while the remaining four episodes require an upgrade.

With both Kristian Alfonso and Peter Reckell reprising their roles as Hope Williams Brady and Bo Brady, respectively, the second chapter hits Peacock with five all-new episodes releasing daily from Monday, July 11 through Friday, July 15. The next chapter is being billed as an epic, action-packed tale that spans the entire globe, from Monte Carlo to Hong Kong with beloved characters from “Days of our Lives” once again going “Beyond Salem” as they trade the comforts of home for an adventure of a lifetime! Over the course of five thrilling episodes, heartwarming family reunions take a dangerous turn as a mysterious adversary wreaks havoc on their lives. As they trade the comforts of home for an adventure of a lifetime, heartwarming family reunions take a dangerous turn as a mysterious adversary wreaks havoc on their lives. It all leads up to larger-than-life romances, jaw-dropping twists, and high-stakes drama – and it all connects back to a memorable plot that originated on “Days of our Lives” long ago.

During Q1, the service gained an additional four million paid subscribers thanks to the availability of both the Super Bowl and the Olympics for an overall paid subscriber base of 13 million. In total, the service has 28 million active monthly subscribers.

In discussing the streaming service’s success, NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Shell said, “The noise in the rest of the streaming business just validates where we’re going,” referring to recent woes plaguing Netflix, among other streamers. “We’ve said from the beginning when we launched Peacock that we’re taking a different approach from other people in the streaming business. We don’t view Peacock as a separate and distinct business. We think of it as an extension of our existing TV business. And we manage it that way, that’s how we set up our business. That’s how we program it, that’s how we sell advertising across both linear and Peacock. I think that that strategy is working.”

A premium subscription for Peacock costs $4.99 a month (with ads) or $9.99 a month (without ads*). The higher tier requires some advertising for select programming and the ability to watch select titles offline with download capability.
