THE NUMBERS

Just two weeks into the new year “General Hospital” is already outperforming its 2021 numbers in Women 18-49 rating, Women 25-54 rating and Total Viewers, hitting its best performance in all three demographics since at least the second week of the 2021-2022 television season (week of September 27-October 1, 2021).

During the week of January 10-14, 2022, “GHjumped week to week from seventh place to fifth with its 0.59 rating in the Women 25-54 demo, beating sixth place “The Bold and the Beautiful” (0.57 rating) and slightly behind fourth place “TODAY 3rd Hour” (0.62 rating). The soap was also up slightly week to week in Women 18-49 rating (0.36 vs. 0.35). Compared to the same week last year, “GH” was flat in Women 18-49 and up +0.01 in Women 25-54 (0.59 vs. 0.58). With 2.309 million viewers watching the happenings in Port Charles, “GH” was up +145,000 viewers compared to its performance one year earlier and was up +161,000 viewers compared to the show’s performance in 2020. Week to week the show gained 88,000 viewers to mark the show’s second best performance of the season in Total Viewers.

The Price is Right” continued leading the pack in both key sales demos and overall viewers. In fact, the show’s second half-hour and its first half-hour outperformed their 2021 and 2020 numbers among viewers with the second half-hour (5.061 million) up +308,000 viewers over 2021 figures and up +31,000 viewers over 2020. The first half-hour (4.433 million) was up +200,000 viewers and up +37,000 viewers, respectively.

For the seventh week in a row, “Days of our Lives” attracted more than 1.7 million viewers. For the week, “DAYS” averaged 1.790 million viewers, gaining +7,000 viewers compared to one week earlier. Overall, the soap lost the least amount of viewers across daytime broadcast year to year (-22,000 viewers) and compared to its performance in 2020 (-13,000 viewers). With that said, with a resurging “GMA3: What You Need to Know” (1.8 million viewers), “DAYS” fell to 12th place in Women 18-49 and Women 25-54. The soap tied “GMA3” for 11th place among Households.

Note: Total Viewers for “TODAY 3rd Hour” and “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna” were not available at press time which currently skews the rankings in those categories. Comparable 2020 numbers for “GMA3: What Need to Know” figures are based on the performance of “GMA3: Strahan, Sara & Keke.”
