‘The 100’ Expands to a Sixth Season on The CW

"The 100" is getting a sixth season on The CW after performing on par with its fourth season average.

Last month, The CW was quick to renew all of its returning veterans from this season with the exception of “The 100” and “iZombie.” In the case of the former, that has since been rectified. The network has asked for a sixth season of the popular sci-fi series which will launch sometime during the 2018-2019 television season.

Since premiering its fifth season in April, “The 100” has so far performed on par with its fourth season average. According to TVbytheNumbers, the show is averaging 1.23 million total viewers the same night it airs before jumping to 1.89 million viewers after three days of delayed viewing. The series is averaging a 0.6/5 in L+3 in the Adults 18-49 demographic.

Based on the book series of the same name by author Kass Morgan, “The 100” is produced by from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Alloy Entertainment, Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios with executive producers Jason Rothenberg and Leslie Morgenstein (“The Vampire Diaries”). Eliza Taylor, Paige Turco (“Guiding Light,” “All My Children”), Bob Morley, Marie Avgeropoulos, Lindsey Morgan (“General Hospital”), Christopher Larkin, Henry Ian Cusick and Tasya Teles lead a multitude of characters dealing with life on Earth.

In addition to “The 100,” The CW has ordered a seventh season for “Arrow” and a fifth season for “The Flash,” its highest-rated series. “Jane the Virgin” will also be back for a fifth season. Meanwhile, “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” and “Supergirl” will each return for their fourth seasons. As the network’s longest  running series, “Supernatural” will mark 14 seasons on the air next season.”Riverdale” will be back for a third season in the fall while freshman dramas “Black Lightning” and “Dynasty” will be back for second seasons. “Valor” and “Life Sentence” have each been canceled.
