Freeform Gives Series Order to ‘The Perfectionists,’ A ‘Pretty Little Liars’ Spinoff

"General Hospital's" Hayley Erin (Kiki Jerome) hopes to pull double duty now that her Freeform pilot, "The Perfectionists," has been ordered to series.

As it gets ready to unleash its programming slate for the 2018-19 television season tomorrow, alongside ABC, Freeform this evening announced that it has given a 10-episode series order to “The Perfectionists,” a new spinoff of “Pretty Little Liars,” based on the book of the same name by author Sara Shepard. The series is slated to premiere sometime in 2019.

Nearly four years since commissioning the project, and before attaching it to the “Liars” universe, Freeform has finally put the finishing touches on what could be the ultimate successor to the popular franchise that drove the network for seven seasons until its conclusion last summer.

Taking place in the town of Beacon Heights, “Perfectionists” follows a group of overachieving college friends who deal with the aftermath of the town’s first murder. As such, each Perfectionist hides behind a secret, a lie and an alibi.

Produced by Alloy Entertainment and Long Lake Media in association with Warner Horizon Scritped Television, “Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists” stars “Liars” alums Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish, reprising their roles as Alison DiLaurentis and Mona Vanderwaal, respectively. They will be joined by Sofia Carson (“Descendants”) as Ava, Sydney Park (“The Walking Dead”) as Caitlin, Eli Brown as Dylan, Graeme Thomas King (“The Widow”) as Jeremy, Kelly Rutherford (“Gossip Girl,” “Melrose Place”) as Claire and Hayley Erin (Kiki Jerome, “General Hospital”) in a mysterious, yet unnamed role.

When speaking with Soap Opera Digest recently about pulling double duty, Erin told the magazine, “Contractually, legally, I can do both shows. It’s up to the powers of ‘General Hospital’ and ABC to figure out if it’s possible. I’m holding out hope the stars will align and I’ll be able to do both.” She added, “I have no intention of leaving ‘General Hospital.’ I’ll be on it forever if I can!”
