Now that Tyler Christopher‘s joining “Days of our Lives” has been confirmed, the actor shared fond words for his new Salem family while reminiscing over his early days as Nikolas Cassadine on “General Hospital,” and hope for the possibilities that lie ahead.

“I want to thank ‘Days of our Lives’ for welcoming me into their home. Although I can’t comment on the character, Ron Carlivati [‘DAYS’ head writer] has handed me a gem of a story I am eager for you to see,” said Christopher on Twitter yesterday.

In a lengthier message posted on his Facebook page, Christopher told his fans, “It has been a true blessing to be able to do what I love for the past 22 years. It feels like just yesterday that I pulled over to a pay phone on Sunset Blvd to answer a page (yes a page) from my agent telling me I had gotten the roll of Nikolas Cassadine on ‘General Hospital.’ I dropped to me knees, still barely clutching the phone in what can only be described as child-like disbelief at getting a Christmas present I thought Santa had forgotten about but didn’t deserve. I often wonder what my life would of been like if Mark Teschner [‘GH’ casting director] hadn’t seen beyond the fragile inexperience clearly on display during our first meeting in late 1995. Fortunately for me…he did. Thank you Nikolas Cassadine for championing my career. In so many ways – I think I needed you more than you needed me. And thank you (insert DOOL character) for reminding me what a privilege it is to be an actor.”

“Thrilled to have @Tyler2929 join our #days family! Welcome aboard!” wrote earlier “DAYS” co-executive producer Greg Meng earlier today on Twitter.

Also wishing the actor well with his new endeavor was former “GH” co-star Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos). “Knock him dead buddy,” wrote the Daytime Emmy Award winner.

As previously reported, Christopher’s new role on “DAYS” is being kept under wraps. He first airs sometime later this year, or early 2018, due to the show’s advanced taping schedule.
