From crime lord to crime drama. “General Hospital’s” Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) is guest-starring on ABC’s “Castle.” The actor will appear in the 19th episode of Season 8 of the ABC drama, which looks to be airing in April, with Jonathan Silverman.
TVLine broke the news, noting that Silverman will play Alan Masters in what appears to be a murder-less case. The character is a survivor of an attempted murder, who goes on to help Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) solve the case.
Benard shared word of his primetime gig on Twitter, along with a photo himself with Fillion and Silverman, on Twitter.

There’s no word as to exactly who Benard will be playing on the primetime series. Will it be another mob-type character, a la his “GH” alter ego? Or will he go the opposite route and perhaps play a bona fide good guy? In an earlier Twitter post, Bernard did note that the gig was “something different.”
