For the week of December 9-13, 2013, ABC's "General Hospital" continued to pace for its best season in seven years in total viewers (since 2006/2007 television season), and is turning in its best performance in the key women sales demos in 2 1/2 to 4 years. The soap was number 1 in Women 18-49 for the second consecutive week (779,000/1.2 rating), which is the first back to back win the soap has had in the demo in six-and-a-half years (since week of 5/21/07). "GH" turned in its 2nd-most-watched week in over two years in Women 18-49 and in over two and a half years in Women 25-54 (1.06 million/1.7 rating), behind only last week and since weeks of 8/15/11 and 3/21/11, respectively. Moreover, the past three weeks have been the show’s Top 3 most-watched weeks in nearly three years in Total Viewers – since week of 12/27/10. For the 1st Time in 6-and-a-Half Years “General Hospital” Is the #1 Program in Daytime in Women 18-49 for Two-Straight Weeks; Returning Legacy Characters and Compelling Story Lines Driving 7-Year Season High

For the week of December 9, 2013, ABC delivered a clean sweep across target women demos, setting a near 2-year high in Women 18-49 (645,000/1.0 rating) and Women 25-54 (865,000/1.4 rating) – since weeks of 1/9/12 and 9/19/11, respectively.

• Year to year, ABC posted the biggest gains of any broadcast network in Women 18-49 (+20% – 645,000 vs. 538,000) and Women 25-54 (+27% – 865,000 vs. 679,000), and was up by solid double digits in Total Viewers (+12% – 3.03 million vs. 2.72 million).

“The Chew”:
For the 2nd-straight week, “The Chew” delivered its #1 week on record in Women 25-54 (774,000/1.3 rating), its #2 week of all time in Total Viewers (2.94 million) and #3 week ever in Women 18-49 (576,000/0.9 rating).

Impressively, the past three weeks have ranked as the series’ Top 3 most-watched weeks in Total Viewers, with the previous seven placing among its Top 8 weeks to date. In Women 25-54, the past three weeks place among its Top 4 weeks on record.

• Wednesday’s telecast, ‘Cookin’ Around the Christmas Tree,’ – featuring rockin’ recipes, with the help of friend Guy Fieri (“Guy’s Grocery Games”), and fun and innovative ways to decorate holiday gingerbread cookies – ranked as the show’s #2 telecast ever in Total Viewers (3.11 million), Women 18-49 (652,000/1.0 rating) and Women 25-54 (830,000/1.4 rating).

• Year to year, “The Chew” generated the largest increases of any broadcast program in daytime in Total Viewers (+24% – 2.94 million vs. 2.37 million), Women 18-49 (+40% – 576,000 vs. 410,000) and Women 25-54 (+40% – 774,000 vs. 553,000).

“General Hospital”:
With the citizens of Port Charles lives in upheaval due to Robin’s return from the dead and the looming verdict for AJ’s murder trial, “General Hospital” ranked as the #1 program in Daytime for the 2nd consecutive week in Women 18-49 (779,000/1.2 rating), marking the series’ first back to back wins in the core demo in six-and-a-half years – since week of 5/21/07.

Notably, this week stood as the show’s 2nd-most-watched week in over two years in Women 18-49 and in over two and a half years in Women 25-54 (1.06 million/1.7 rating), behind only last week and since weeks of 8/15/11 and 3/21/11, respectively. Moreover, the past three weeks have been the show’s Top 3 most-watched weeks in nearly three years in Total Viewers – since week of 12/27/10.

Further, “General Hospital” is pacing for its best season in 7 years in Total Viewers – since the 2006/07 season – driven by compelling storylines, bolstered by the return of legacy characters.
