Y&R CONTRACTS: Who Signed, Who’s Staying, Whose Future Is In Doubt

Friday, November 15 was a busy day for CBS' "The Young and the Restless" and its cast members. On that day it was announced that Amelia Heinle (Victoria Newman) had signed a new deal with the daytime drama series and Sean Carrigan (Stitch Rayburn) had been upped to contract status. The news wasn't so great for fans of Billy Miller (Billy Abbott), who is currently in a stalemate with producers of the soap opera. Miller, whose contract is set to expire next month, has yet to sign a new deal and it's being reported that recent casting calls for caucasian males are smoke screens for the show to instead cast a replacement for the actor.

Meanwhile, Heinle said on Twitter on staying and on the status of Miller, “Thank you for your continued support. I’m really happy to be staying for my tenth year on Y and R! Now we need Billy to sign on again too!” She added, “He’s one of a kind and will be missed terribly if he goes. I’ll do my best to convince him to stay, that’s the truth, working with Billy is one of my favorite parts of this show.”

As for Carrigan, the actor’s star has continued to rise since joining the soap back in late June. Just two days before signing a contract with “Y&R,” the actor appeared on ABC’s “Modern Family.” Previously, Carrigan appeared in episodes of “Criminal Minds,” “The Closer,” “Hart of Dixie,” “Touch” and “Up All Night.” He also starred on NBC’s “The Event.” In 2012, the actor could be seen in Walt Disney Pictures’ “John Carter.” Said Carrigan on announcing his signing a contract on Twitter, “Thrilled to be on contract at #YR and excited for what is ahead for ‘Stitch.'” In response to the outpouring by fans he added, “Thank you to all the #YR fans for all the kind words!!… Can’t tell how much that means!. Love you all!!”
