Is a New Intro in the Works for ‘One Life?’

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Could “One Life to Live” be on the verge of getting a new opening? Erika Slezak (Viki) discusses the possibility in her latest online fan club newsletter.

In the November edition of her newsletter Slezak was asked by her fan club president Walter Miller if she had shot any new pictures for “OLTL’s” opening sequence, which hasn’t been overhauled since 2004. Although the longtime vet stated that she hadn’t, she did hint at the fact that a new or updated opening may be in the offing for the ABC soap.

According to Slezak, “I think Frank [Valentini] is doing a new opening, but I’m not sure whether he is going to replace pictures. You know what? It all costs money.”

So perhaps “OLTL” will go the “General Hospital” route and get a somewhat revamped opening sequence (updated graphics and pictures with the same music). Or at the very least it appears that, if nothing else, we can expect an updated opening with new contract cast members added and the removal of those no longer on the show.

On a related note, the six-time Daytime Emmy winner reveals that Valentini is apparently finally making good on his promise to film new bumpers for every contract cast member, stating that, while she hasn’t taped one yet, “we’re going to be shooting those.”

In addition, Slezak also notes that her co-star Brian Kerwin (Charlie) will be taking a hiatus from “One Life to Live” from mid-December through the end of January to perform in a play in San Diego. However, Charlie fans shouldn’t fear because Slezak notes that he will pre-tape additional scenes before he leaves for the West Coast, as well as post-tape scenes when he returns to the set.

Lastly, she confirms that she recently had a pre-cancerous lesion removed from her forehead, hence Viki’s explanation to Dorian in a recent scene on the show about why she had a band-aid over her eye.
