(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Although fans shouldn’t expect the ABC sudser to transition to HD anytime soon, they will notice a slightly different appearance to the show in the coming months.

With NBC’s “Days of Our Lives” expected to make the switch in November, “OLTL” remains one of only two daytime dramas (“The Bold and the Beautiful” being the other) that wiill not be broadcast in High Definition as of this fall.  However, Broadcasting & Cable is reporting that ABC “will start shooting episodes [of ‘OLTL’] in the 16 X 9 [widescreen] format for December airing.”  A first airdate has not been announced.

Last year the network announced that “One Life to Live” would convert to HD upon its move into sister soap “All My Children’s” old studio’s following that show’s relocation to near Los Angeles, however those plans were soon scrapped due to a sagging economy.  Plans for the “AMC” conversion went on as scheduled, due to the fact that the equipment at the show’s new West Coast studios had already been upgraded.  “General Hospital” began broadcasting in HD in April of 2009 after ABC reportedly spent upwards of $3,000,000 to make the move a reality.  And ABC’s morning gabfest “The View” made the transition in 2006.

“One Life to Live” airs Weekdays on ABC. Weeknights on SOAPnet. Anytime on ABC.com and SOAPnet.com. Check local listings.
