Out! Cosgrove Rebuffs ‘OLTL’

Monday, August 3, 2009 8:38 PM ET | By Scotty Gore

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Despite numerous reports in recent weeks seeming to indicate that “Guiding Light” star Daniel Cosgrove was likely headed to “One Life to Live” this fall as a recasted Joey Buchanan, it now appears that a move from Springfield to Llanview is not on his itinerary.

In a move eerily similar to “OLTL’s” recent negotations to lure alum Gina Tognoni (Dinah, “GL”) back to Llanview as Kelly Cramer, a source close to the show reveals to Soap Opera Digest that “Despite all the buzz that Daniel Cosgrove (Bill, ‘GL’) will be ‘One Life to Live’s’ next Joey Buchanan, it’s not happening. A setsider says Cosgrove will not be joining the ABC soap.”

This comes only weeks after several media outlets were claiming that a deal between the actor and “OLTL” was thisclose to being finalized. It remains to be seen is the two sides are still discussing the possibility, or if talks have completely broken off.

The youngest son of Viki Davidson and the late Joe Riley (and adopted son of Clint Buchanan), Joey Buchanan has been one of the most recasted characters in “One Life to Live’s” history, with seven different actors tackling the role over the years.

In addition to his time on “Guiding Light,” the 38-year-old Cosgrove portrayed Scott Chandler on “All My Children” from 1996-98. Primetime credits include stints on “Beverly Hills 90210” and “Dirty Sexy Money.”

SON will keep you posted on any further developments.

“One Life to Live” airs Weekdays on ABC. Weeknights on SOAPnet. Check local listings.
