(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — I am pretty sure if you are on the internet it pretty much guarantees that you have either Facebook’ed or Tweeted. If you are anything like me then you have probably already done both! Well, if you are like Alison Sweeney, then you are ahead of the rest of us. Sweeney, who portrays Samantha ‘Sami’ Brady on “Days of Our Lives” and also hosts “The Biggest Loser,” has jumped on board with a brand new social network media website called “Tout.”
Tout is a new video social media platform whose mobile app enables iPhone and iPad users to shoot 15-second real-time video messages (or “touts”), which they can simply and instantly share on Twitter, Facebook, via email and/or SMS in one click. The users’ Touts are also automatically posted on Tout.com.
Sweeney, whose profile is now the second most viewed right behind Shaquille O’Neal, is touting on daily and has provided her fans with a behind-the-scenes look into her everyday life. So far she has shared behind-the-scene clips at her shows, daily work-outs and much more.
After learning he was joining the cast of “One Life to Live” in the contract role of Baz on the same day the show was canceled back on April 14, Soap Opera Network can confirm that actor Barret Helms is no longer with the show.
While a last airdate is unknown at this time, sources have confirmed that Helms has already completed filming and his character will be sent to Paris in the coming weeks. Coincidentally, Helms tweeted on July 21 that he had “just finished one of the craziest 13 week periods of my life!!”
For those wondering, 13 weeks is the length of time since beginning a contract that a soap can drop an actor no matter the initial length of said contract. The actor is not given the same courtesy (they must stay for the full duration).
(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Back in June at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, “One Life to Live” executive producer Frank Valentini alluded to Soap Opera Network that we hadn’t seen the last of Farah Fath despite her character, Gigi Morasco, being killed off. In our Twitter posting that night, we stated “according to Frank Valentini, more surprises in store for #OLTL. Have we seen the last of Gigi? Don’t believe what you see!” Come August, that’s never been more certain!
During the “One Life to Live” Fan Club Weekend, Fath herself shed a little light on her storyline when she shared with a fan that “the storyline’s not over.” So how can that be considering Gigi died in June thanks to carbon monoxide poisoning after being locked in a basement by Jack Manning (Andrew Trischitta), his buddy Brad (Frank Dolce), and Llanview High School cheerleader Hayley (Gaby Leyner)? Well Gigi’s heart may have gone to Clint Buchanan (Jerry verDorn), which conveniently occurred off-screen, but Stacy’s (played by Crystal Hunt) body was never recovered.
Interestingly enough, Stacy’s best friend Kim (Amanda Setton), Clint’s most recent ex-wife, returns on Friday, August 19. In the episode, the character will learn some interesting information from Rex (John-Paul Lavoisier) about the goings on in Llanview and shares these tidbits with a certain someone next week.
We wonder what that means? Hmmm…
(SoapOperaNetwork.com) – Brandon Buddy, who left “One Life to Live” in November 2010 shortly after a hacking controversy on Twitter, is now using the social network service again by seeking assistance from fans of Starr (Kristen Alderson) and Cole (Buddy) to get him back on the show.
You’ll recall it was last summer when the actor claimed his twitter account was hacked (revealing that fact nearly a week after the reported hacking took place) and he wasn’t leaving “One Life to Live” (even though he did anyway). Although this time no claims of a hacking have been reported, the actor is asking fans to help him return to the soap as it winds down so that he can “finish what I started.”
According to Buddy’s postings, which began on August 8, he states “I want/need everyone to send in your love for cole! I’m tired of sitting around. Get me back on the the show so I can finish what I started. I love my fans/friends let’s go!!! No more f**ging around!!!!!!!!! Ok!!! Let me think! I hope I don’t get in trouble for this! …..standby! : )”
The postings continued on August 9, when he said “I want starr and my hope back! My peeps are the best so let’s make it happen!!! Idk! Ill find out but it has to happen. Abc!!! Let’s go! I’m ready! So are the fans! Now I’m not sure what’s going to happen with the whole oltl thing because I guess its a lot more complicated then we think so…. But I still feel really strong about finishing what I started and get my girls back : ) I guess we just wait and see…”
Buddy previously stated back in April mere hours before the soap was canceled by ABC that he’d “love to come back.”
What do you think? Should Buddy return before “One Life to Live” signs off? What about Starr’s newfound relationship with James Ford (Nic Robuck)?

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — When rumors began swirling back in June over the possible returns of Deidre Hall, Drake Hogestyn, Christie Clark and even Patrick Muldoon to NBC’s “Days of our Lives,” there was one other name on the list that unfortunately didn’t make it from rumorville to the confirmation stage weeks later. That name was Bryan Dattilo.
Two months after the rumors first surfaced, fans have taken to Twitter to question “DAYS” cast members, writers and even soap opera publications, including Soap Opera Network, about their favorite actor and whether or not there are plans to return Dattilo’s character, Lucas Horton, to Salem now that some of Salem’s other popular characters and actors have returned.
A “DAYS” representative has finally set the record straight by stating that although the show is aware of fan interest in the actor and character and that “everyone wants him back”, there are “as of now no plans” to return the character or actor to the canvas.
(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — It appears that not even death can keep Gigi Morasco (Farah Fath) away from Llanview and her beloved Rex (John-Paul Lavoisier). Fath revealed recently that, even after her character’s demise, “I can’t say that I’m 100% done with the show.” True to her word, the actress brings Gigi back to “Life” in the coming weeks when Rex needs her the most. But is it really her spirit that is seeing, or simply a product of his grieving, overactive imagination?
When viewers last saw Gigi she was brain dead and lying in a coma after suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning as a result of Jack Manning (Andrew Trischitta) and his friends Brad (Frank Dolce) and Hayley’s (Gaby Leyner) actions. Later Rex made a bargain with Clint (Jerry verDorn) to give the Buchanan family patriarch Gigi’s heart. Now with Clint on the mend, Rex is focusing his full attention on seeking revenge on Jack and his millionaire publisher father Todd Manning (Trevor St. John).
The week of August 1, Rex makes an important decision and later receives a visit from beyond the grave. However, things aren’t always what they seem, which leads Echo (Kim Zimmer) to become concerned about her son’s state of mind. But just how far will Rex go to try and prove that what he thinks he is seeing is real? And what will it mean for his family? Tune in to find out!

Patrick Allen Cole says on website that he will be returning to “One Life to Live” in September as Rodi’s Manager/Bartender Jeff, and notes on Facebook that he will be taping the episode in August. Fans may recall that in his last two appearances on the show earlier this year, Jeff contacted Viki after finding a passed out Charlie, and shared scenes with Tomas and Téa.
Barret Helms (Baz) tweets that Monday (July 18) was a long day for him on the set, telling a fan that “I wrapped at 7:00 (pm). Long day for me. I saw u out the window but then u were gone when I went out..”
And for those speculating that Austin Peck (Rick), Terri Conn (Aubrey), and Josh Kelly (Cutter) will be leaving “One Life” in the near future, think again. The trio were still taping scenes as of July 12, when Peck tweeted that “On set ‘OLTL.’ Finished my set, now watching Aubrey and Cutter, minuteman hotel.”
(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — “One Life to Live” releases a new audition script for the contract role of “Lily” and other casting odd and ends and behind-the-scenes summer tidbits.
The scene opens with “Lily” and “Josh” at odds. He asks for an answer to the deal he proposed to her earlier. Angry, she reminds him that all he did was leave her with a lot of settlement ideas which favored his client, and tells him to go to hell. Josh responds that he would really like for them to work together on this. When she asks him why, he claims it is because they both like to win and make money. Turned off by his answer, he reminds him that he is already rich, so he doesn’t need more money. Josh fires back that he spends most of his time thinking about winning and her. Lily informs him that she is not settling the case or siding with him. As the scene ends, Lily tells Josh she has never noticed him flirting with her, and that she doesn’t even really care for him. However, Josh refuses to give up easily and tells her that she, like him, is an acquired test, and takes some time to warm up to. Remember that with these audition scripts, the show frequently changes character names to try and throw off viewers.
Look for a couple of seldom used recurring characters and actors to appear again soon:
Saundra Santiago (Carlotta) noted on Facebook on July 14 that she “Ran into Whoopi @ the ABC Studios today while shooting some scenes on ‘One Life.’ Like, I literally almost ran into her, and she was so cool. I love people from the Bronx!”
And, according to a fan who has his picture taken with several “One Life” cast members outside the studios last week, Patricia Elliott (Renee) was on the set taping scenes recently. The fan noted that “Patricia was unfortunately only at the studio to get her haircut. But, she did say that she filmed scenes with Bo last week. So hopefully we’ll see her in the upcoming weeks.” Click here to read more of his comments on meeting the stars of “One Life to Live.”
In other news…
Remember the “Nurse Judy” audition script that was released late last month? Well one of the characters mentioned in it was Dr. Lawless, who was first seen last week in scenes with Bo and Nora when he told the devastated parents that Matthew would need to be relocated to a medical facility better equipped to handle his condition. The character is played by Nathan Hinton.
Expect to see more of Mr. Baker (Jonathan Earl Peck) in the coming weeks as the ‘Tale of Two Todds’ storyline begins to heat up.
Shenaz Treasuryvala (Rama) writes on Facebook that “For all those in New York- Monday, 18th July at the AMC theatre on 42nd street at 7:30; I’m going with a lot of people from ‘OLTL’ to watch ‘DELHI BELLY’ (my latest film) in the theatre and would love to see you there.” Click here to buy your tickets.
Carlos Gonzalez, who recently played Officer Garcia, posted this picture of himself on Facebook on June 8 reading over a script before taping more scenes.
Kristen Alderson (Starr) tweeted last Thursday that “I can’t even tell you how many times we had to film the last two group scenes on today’s episode that aired. We laughed SO HARD..” The scenes to which is referring to were the ones involving Sam’s Spiderman-themed birthday party. On July 10 she tweeted that “We’re taping a little out of order but we’ve already filmed scenes that’ll air at the end of August.”
Lenny Platt (Nate) tells a fan who asks him about his character’s recent porn storyline by tweeting that “There’s (imo) a big comedic payoff. Stay tuned. Nate will keep doing what he does best: getting himself into trouble…” He also gives fans a link to a site to help them come up with their own porn name.
It doesn’t appear as if Barrett Helms (Baz) may be taping a headshot for the show’s opening sequence, despite the fact that he is on contract with “OLTL.” The same looks to be true of Andrew Trischitta (Jack) was well, who admits he hasn’t taped anything for the opening yet either.
Always the comedian, Bree Williamson (Jessica) talks about Jess’ bitch slap of Natalie last week saying that “About Jessica’s punch: A) Lover not a fighter. B) The only punch I’d ever give MA [Melissa Archer] has rum in it and C) I practiced on my hubby for days!”
Nick Choksi (Vimal) continues to give fans a chuckle with his latest Facebook posts (from the past several weeks) regarding his character’s onscreen antics. Click here to check them out.
“OLTL” Music Director Paul S. Glass is asking his fellow soap fans to help out singer Rachael Yamagata‘s (who appeared on the show in 2009) new project. Click here to see how you can help. He also says that “Her song ‘I’ll Find a Way’ which I used for the montage when Jenn died still haunts me! She is amazing!”
Michael Eilbaum will be credited as the director of the August 11 and 12 episodes of “OLTL.”
Gaby Leyner played Head Cheerleader Hayley, the girl with Jack and Brad, when they lured Gigi (mistakenly thinking it was Shane) to an abandoned old house on June 13 (She also appeared on March 31 and April 1). On July 12 she tweeted that “Still can’t believe I was involved in the killing of Gigi Morasco!”
Austin Peck (Rick) posted this cartoon of Kim Zimmer (Echo) from his “OLTL” dressing room wall, on his Twitter page, and this photo of some fans outside the show’s studios in honor of “One Life’s” 43rd anniversary last Friday. Peck also made several other interesting tweets recently including “Stay the f— out of my way. It’s pizza day on set!!” (on July 13), “On set ‘OLTL.’ Finished my set, now watching Aubrey (Terri Conn) and Cutter (Josh Kelly), minuteman hotel.” (on July 12), and “Going to work early tomorrow. Yaahn!!” (on July 11). And on July 8 he tweeted to Kristen Alderson (Starr) that he was “looking forward to next week…moohaha!!!”
And “OLTL” Make up artist Julia Davis tweeted on July that she was “Back to Llanview. Happy Tuesday! Humming Ledisi ‘Alright’ on set. Love this song.”
(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — As we first reported last night, thanks to a tweet from a “One Life to Live” crew member, it was looking as if Amanda Setton, who currently plays Penelope Shafai on “Gossip Girl,” was making her way back to Llanview as the former stripper and Buchanan wife Kimberly Andrews. This afternoon, both Soap Opera Digest and ABC Soaps in Depth confirmed the news, stating that the actress was indeed returning to Llanview.
The tweet in question came from Julia Davis (of Julia Jovone Beauty), who has been a make-up artist on “OLTL” since October 2005. On June 13, she tweeted that she had “Just finished getting @amandasetton into character for ‘One Life to Live.’ Love her features.”
“I am thrilled to be returning to ‘One Life to Live.’ I had such a great time working with everyone at ‘OLTL’ and I am looking forward to the trouble that Kim will get into once she is back in town,” the actress said in a statement.
However, Setton’s first airdate, as well as the length of her stay on “One Life,” are unknown at this time. But with her taping scenes earlier this month, she should first appear on screen sometime in August.
Setton made her “One Life” debut as Kimberly Andrews on August 14, 2009. She left the role on April 2, 2010 after rejecting an offer by the show to place her on contract, in order to return to her primetime roots.
So what brings Kimberly back to Llanview? Revenge on David Vickers after he blackmailed her into leaving town? Looking to reunite with her sugar daddy Clint Buchanan? Or could it be something more? Here’s your chance to sound off!
As daytime gets ready to roll the dice in Las Vegas on Sunday, June 19 for “The 38th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards,” CBS is getting itself ready by hosting CBS Tweet Week with the networks biggest and brightest daytime stars including “The Young and the Restless’” Christian LeBlanc and Christel Khalil and “The Bold and the Beautiful’s” Ronn Moss and Scott Clifton. Also joining in on the fun will be Mike Richards, Executive Producer of “The Price is Right.” Each tweeter will chat live with fans during the East Coast broadcast of their respective shows, the network said.
(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — After fifteen years of working in various positions on the “One Life to Live” writing staff, including serving as the show’s head scribe for the last three years, ABC has announced that Ron Carlivati will be joining “General Hospital” as a script writer. The move will fulfill the remainder of the three-year contract Carlivati signed with the network last September. A similar two-year deal was hammered out at the time with “One Life” Executive Producer Frank Valentini.
Despite the timing of the news, “OLTL” fans breath a sigh of relief, however, since Carlivati is not expected to begin his new duties until after the show wraps production sometime in mid-November. “One Life to Live” will air its final episode on January 20, 2012.
Carlivati echoed the sentiment in a press release, saying that “I remain fully committed to Frank Valentini and ‘One Life to Live’ as the show’s Headwriter until the series concludes in January of 2012. It has been my distinct honor to write for Agnes Nixon’s groundbreaking soap opera for the past fifteen years, and it will be with a heavy heart that I, along with my incredibly talented team, pen its finale. At that time, I am happy to announce that I will then be joining the writing team of ‘General Hospital,’ and am thrilled to be working once again with Executive Producer Jill Phelps as well as new Headwriter Garin Wolf.”
Wolf was just named “GH” headwriter last month by Brian Frons, President, Daytime, Disney/ABC Television Group, upon the firing of the show’s former head scribe Robert Guza, Jr.
The news of Carlivati’s move to the L.A.-based “Hospital,” was broken Thursday by “One Life’s” soon-to-be-departing leading lady Robin Strasser, who tweeted that ” JUST TOLD but NOT told it wuz SECRET: Ron CARLIVATI to #GH as script writer-hopes 2 b co-head writer? Yo,I’m taking heat for leaving early?” Strasser, as we previously reported, is leaving “OLTL” this summer to have back surgery. Her final tape date is Friday, July 1.
Carlivati, along with his writing staff, won a Daytime Emmy in 2008 for their work on “One Life to Live.” He began his daytime career on the soap as a Writer’s Assistant from 1996-1998, before being promoted the the position of Script Writer. In 2001 he was again promoted, this time to the job of Breakdown Writer. In May 2007, he was appointed Co-Head Writer (along with Dena Higley). In September of that year, he was named the show’s sole Head Writer following the network’s dismissal of Higley, where he has continued to serve (minus a brief hiatus during the 2008 Writer’s Strike) in the same capacity.
