(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — For the second time this year, comedienne Chelsea Handler singles out the recently canceled ABC soap saying that “‘One Life to Live’ is one of the soaps that is headed to an early grave and, unlike many of its characters, it won’t be able to come back as its separated at birth evil, retarded twin.” And while the joke was an obvious reference to the “Tale of Two Todd’s” storyline, it wasn’t the only current plot on the soap targeted by Handler on her E! show “Chelsea Lately.”
Handler also took a jab at the fan favorite stuffed porcupine Morris, whom she affectionately refers to as that “stuffed little buck-toothed nugget.” In a clip from the soap featuring Cutter (Josh Kelly) and Aubrey (Terri Conn) talking about the furry little guy, which he bought at a flea market from Roxy (Ilene Kristen), the comic jokes that due to budget cutbacks [Morris] had to replace the third actor that was supposed to be in the scene. She even manages to take a jab at actor James Franco, who has recurring guest role on “General Hospital,” at the end of clip.
In April of this Handler poked fun at “One Life’s” “cougar” storyline involving Robin Strasser (ex-Dorian) and Tuc Watkins (ex-David), claiming the show had “gone to far” with the story.
You can watch the Youtube clip of her latest jab at “One Life to Live” below:

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — You’ve likely heard of the big September returns like Erin Torpey, Andrea Evans and John Loprieno, but they aren’t the only familiar faces coming back to “One Life to Live” in the coming weeks. A few other minor, but noteworthy characters will also be making appearances as summer turns into fall.
Radio personality Carolina Bermudez turns up again as Llanview’s investigative reporter Blanca Morales on Thursday, September 1, when she looks for a scoop from a Llanview resident regarding a crime.
With the “Tale of Two Todd’s” storyline reaching a thrilling climax soon, you might have thought you saw the the last of Irene Manning (Barbara Rhoades), but you’d be wrong. Look for the mother with a warped sense of reality to try to make a deal with one of her sons on Monday, August 29. Rhoades made her “One Life” debut in the role on Tuesday, August 9.
The Buchanan/Evans drama continues into the month of September as Phylicia Evans (Tonye Patano) and Nora Buchanan (Hillary B. Smith) remain at odds.
Patrick Allen Cole taped scenes for his next appearance as Jeff (also know known as Adam), the Rodi’s bartender and manager on August 2, which will air sometime in September.
Brittany Angley will play a waitress on Thursday and Friday, September 1 and 2.
“One Life to Live” has released a new audition script for the role of “Reny,” which appears to be a minor part.
Alicia Henry played Colleen, the stripper who hit on Rex (John-Paul Lavoisier) on Friday, August 19.
Did the woman in scenes with David (Tuc Watkins) playing his agent Bev Altman look familiar? That was actress Brooke Dillman (sporting a blonde wig), who is a childhood friend of Watkins and has appeared with him on HBO’s “Six Feet Under” and the 2009 online “Funny or Die” video “The Sentimentalist.” Dillman’s other credits include “Nip/Tuck, “The Office,” “Blue Collar TV,” “The Bill Engvall Show,” and “Good Luck Charlie,” as well as the film “Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector.”
Robin Strasser (Dorian) had a little medical crisis earlier this week. On August 15, the actress tweeted that she had been “Hospitalized Monday-blood infection-I can’t spell e coli, how’d I get it? I’m home, gonna rest and be grateful. Sorry for disappearing.”
She may have already left the show, but Nafessa Williams (ex-Deanna) posted this picture of herself and how excited she was the day she landed her “OLTL” role.
It has been rumored that an update to the opening is in the works and that a few actors, including Andrew Trischitta (Jack) and Ted King (Tomas) have taped new shots for it.
In case you missed it, get ready for some more Starr (Kristen Alderson) in the coming weeks. On August 1, Alderson tweeted that “Why does Starr have to be a medical wiz all of a sudden? lol I’ve had so many tough lines to say lately!!” She later added that “I have a late call into work tomorrow.. Can you say SLEEPING IN!? I can. Haha,” and “Seriously Starr…quit saying words like this,” along with this close-up of a big medical term from her script. Later she said “Successful day at work! yay! I had lots of lines but it all went very well. Lots of Starr stuff coming up for ya ; ). Lovely day in Llanview.” She also thanked fans for liking her scenes with Roger Howarth (Todd), tweeting “Thanks for all of the positive feedback on my scenes with Roger that aired today. They were surreal to film.”
“OLTL” Music Director Paul S. Glass tweeted this picture of Alderson in the studio recently recording a single with co-star Barret Helms (Baz). And check out this funny one of her dog Pooka at the recording session.
And Kassie DePaiva (Blair) commented earlier this month that “I’m glad so many of you caught today’s show!!! Awesome huh? I loved it too… It’s great to have Roger back. We watched in the makeup room.”
(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Yesterday, we reported that Barret Helms was out as Baz on ABC’s “One Life to Live,” now we can also confirm that Nafessa Williams is also out as Deanne Forbes on the drama series.
According to sources, the actress already wrapped filming and was last seen on the Tuesday, July 19 episode when Deanna received the information she needed on her mother’s whereabouts from porn producer Rick (Austin Peck), who used the information to get her to appear in a porn film with Nate Ford (Lenny Platt), who was being blackmailed by Rick after learning Rick knew about what he did to Matthew Buchanan (Eddie Alderson). After receiving the information, Deanna headed to Los Angeles and made a promise between her and Nate not to ever discuss the details of the matter to anyone else. Unfortunately for her and Nate, their film was shown during the premiere of David Vickers’ (Tuc Watkins) movie, “Vicker Man,” instead of the film he intended to show Llanview.
Williams joined the cast of “One Life to Live” beginning with the Wednesday, March 23 episode, and like Helms, despite signing a lengthy contract with the soap, was informed her cycle wouldn’t be picked up.
Keep your eyes peeled for an upcoming Soap Opera Network interview with Williams along with Helms, where the two discuss their experience on the soap and its cancellation and how the series going online may not be such a bad thing for fans.
(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — “One Life to Live” fans hoping to catch another glimpse of some of their favorite recurring characters before the show wraps production on its TV run in November, can now breath a collective sigh of relief. In the coming weeks, several of Llanview’s “seen, but not heard” characters will be appearing in upcoming episodes.
Ilene Kristen returns as everyone’s favorite drunken hairdresser, Roxy Balsom, on Wednesday, August 17, when she asks Madame Delphina (Lea DeLaria) to help her make contact with Gigi’s (Farah Fath) spirit. But will the ladies succeed in their efforts, or will their actions do more harm than good?
The following week, on Tuesday, August 23, Peter Bartlett is back as Nigel, despite the fact that he was recently relieved of his duties as the Buchanan’s longtime manservant by the family patriarch’s illegitimate son Rex Balsom (John-Paul Lavoisier). This time around, he is tending to a recovering Clint (Jerry verDorn) at Llanfair. Look for Clint to ask a huge favor of his trusty confident on the anniversary of Asa’s death.
Speaking of Asa, look for Clint’s little brother Bo (Robert S. Woods) to pay his respects at his Pa’s grave site that same day, where he runs into Asa’s grieving widow Renee (Patricia Elliott). Check out pictures of Asa and Gigi’s tombstones, along with a few other spoiler images here (the pictures are from two lucky fans’ studio tour with verDorn).
Also next week, Dorian (Robin Strasser) prepares to leave town to launch her Senate campaign, and the Cramers throw a huge farewell party for her. Among those in attendance will be Dorian’s oft mentioned, now mentally stable sister Addie (Pamela Payton-Wright). Look for Addie to also interact with her ex-husband and brother-in-law David Vickers-Buchanan (Tuc Watkins).
And Saundra Santigo will be returning soon as Buenos Dias Café owner Carlotta Vega. The actress posted on Facebook on July 14 that she “Ran into Whoopi @ the ABC Studios today while shooting some scenes on ‘One Life.’ Like, I literally almost ran into her, and she was so cool. I love people from the Bronx!”
On “One Life to Live” Shenell Edmonds plays Destiny Evans, a teenager who is seventeen and pregnant. That alone would be enough to scare the average teenager. But it is even worse for Destiny, considering she is estranged from her grandparents, her father is in jail, and her boyfriend recovering from severe brain injuries in a special treatment center hours away. Next month, the frightened young mother-to-be weighs her options, and has her world turned upside down yet again, thanks to forces (and people) beyond her control.
On Monday, August 8, Tonye Patano reprises her role as Destiny’s grandmother Phylicia Evans when the troubled teen confides in her and asks for her help with the matter after receiving some important information from Dr. Vivian Wright (Kearran Giovanni). Meanwhile, Matthew (Eddie Alderson) receives a special visit from his big brother David (Tuc Watkins), and the two share a little bonding time. (In June, both Patano and her onscreen husband Frankie Faison, who plays Richard Evans, were spotted leaving the studio after taping scenes).
For a time all seems well, however, what will happen when Bo (Robert S. Woods) and Nora (Hillary B. Smith) learn about their their son’s girlfriend’s little bundle of joy and how will their reaction to the news affect the relationship between their two families? And just how will big brother (er, uncle) Shaun (Sean Ringgold) handle the news of little Destiny’s pregnancy? Be sure to tune in next month to find out! It’s an event you won’t want to miss…
In other news…
Check out these photos of Andrew Trischitta (Jack) with some of his co-stars from Trevor St. John‘s (Todd) last day on the set last Friday. The shots include one of Trischitta and St. John, as well as this one of his onscreen sister Kelley Missal (Dani), and another one of them in a different pose.
(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — As we previously reported, Robin Strasser (Dorian) is leaving “One Life to Live” before the show wraps up on its television run on ABC due to reports that she was contemplating having back surgery. Having taped her last scenes on Friday, June 24, we now know when Llanview’s grand dame will make her final appearance on the show.
According to TV Guide, Strasser (and presumably co-star Tuc Watkins [David], although that has not been confirmed), will last appear on screen on Thursday, August 25. Barring an unforeseen return to “One Life” once production moves to the Internet early next year, Strasser’s exit marks the end of era for the show and its fans, since Strasser has played Dorian on and off for nearly twenty-five years (1979-1987; 1993-2000; and 2003-2011).
There is some good news, however. Look for Strasser’s airtime to increase somewhat in the weeks leading up to her exit as Dorian gets caught up in quite a bit of drama. Later this month, she will be saved from Echo’s clutches by a pint-sized superhero and walk the red carpet at the premiere of David’s movie “Vicker Man.” And in August, she will share some emotional farewell scenes with her Cramer girls and her long-time frienemy Viki (Erika Slezak).
