Monday, May 27 is memorial day and while CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful” will air original episodes (which aren’t expected to count in the weekly Nielsen ratings), NBC’s “Days of our Lives” will be preempted for coverage of the French Open, while ABC’s “General Hospital” will air the real 50th Anniversary episode, which actually aired on Tuesday, April 2 after a March preemption pushed scheduling back a day (“GH” premiered on April 1, 1963). “All My Children” will air an original episode as the series is available exclusively on the internet and doesn’t abide by holiday preemptions.

With a first airdate set for Monday, July 8, a CBS spokesperson has confirmed to Soap Opera Network that Camryn Grimes is returning to “The Young and the Restless.” The actress began filming her first scenes earlier today, details of which are being kept quiet. It is unclear at this time as to whether Grimes will be reprising her role of Cassie Newman on the show, either alive or as a ghost, or if she’ll be portraying a brand new character.

When it comes to titles, “The Young and the Restless’” Kristoff St. John (Neil Winters) is no stranger. He’s been called a heartthrob, an Emmy nominee, an Emmy winner, and even the “Denzel of Daytime.” The latter of which actually makes the New York native kind of blush! “That’s just a moniker for having staying power and lasting power in this medium,” he says with modesty of the Denzel Washington comparison. “I’m one of the longest running African American males on daytime, so I think that statement is more in honor of that.”

As previously reported, CBS will air “The Young and the Restless: Tribute to Jeanne Cooper,” in place of an original episode of “Y&R,” on Tuesday, May 28. In a newly released clip, Daniel Goddard (Cane Ashby) says, “My favorite thing that Jeanne would do is on cue, cuss at Jess Walton [Jill Foster Abbott],” He added, “…I would get Jeanne to say things to Jess that would make a truck driver just freak out.”
“Every single time, without a doubt, Jess would react, and Jeanne would just laugh and laugh and laugh — and that’s one of the things about Jeanne that I loved the most.”

CBS Daytime’s “The Price is Right” and “The Bold and the Beautiful” are joining forces with “The Young and the Restless” to pay tribute to the life of the late Jeanne Cooper, who for more than 39 years portrayed Katherine Chancellor on daytime’s most watched drama series.
CBS
“The Young and the Restless” will air a special tribute episode to the late Jeanne Cooper on Tuesday, May 28 (12:30-1:30 PM, ET; 11:00 AM-12:00 Noon, PT) on the CBS Television Network. Cast members and friends of the beloved actress, including Melody Thomas Scott, Christian Le Blanc, Tracey E. Bregman, Eric Braeden and “The Bold and the Beautiful’s” John McCook and Heather Tom, as well as family members such as her son, Corbin Bernsen, recently gathered on set to shoot a celebration of the life of their late friend, who passed away earlier this month at the age of 84. Cooper, the Emmy Award-winning actress who portrayed Katherine Chancellor for more than 39 years, is the show’s longest-running cast member.

Allison Janney has acted in a slew of projects since leaving the role of “Guiding Light’s” Ginger in 1995, including “The West Wing,” “Mr. Sunshine,” and “American Beauty,” and she just filmed a new spot as a guest on “Bitter Party of 5,” which “The Young and the Restless’” Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers) wants you to see!
“Tweeps! [Please] watch my friends hilarious show!” writes the actress of the web comedy that was created by Jason Antoon (“Minority Report”), Mary Birdsong (“The Descendants”), Greg Cromer, Romy Resemont (“Glee“) and Tricia O’Kelley — all actors who were slated to star alongside “Roseanne’s” Roseanne Barr and John Goodman in NBC’s pilot “Downwardly Mobile,” which was ultimately not picked up by the network.
Lifetime
With just one month left before the premiere of Lifetime’s “Devious Maids,” the cable network has released key art material highlighting Ana Ortiz (“Ugly Betty”), Dania Ramirez (“Entourage”), Roselyn Sanchez (“Without a Trace”), Edy Ganem (“Livin’ Loud”) and Judy Reyes(“Scrubs”) as five ambitious maids who, while working for the rich and famous in Beverly Hills, dream of wealthy lives of their own. Sadly, murder is at the center of their world as one of their fellow maids is murdered and the quintet makes it their mission to find out who committed the heinous crime.
“Maids” also stars Susan Lucci (ex-Erica Kane, “All My Children“), Matt Cedeno (ex-Brandon Walker, “Days of our Lives”) and Brianna Brown (ex-Lisa Niles, “General Hospital”). Look for the series to premiere Sunday, June 23 at 10:00 PM ET on Lifetime.
