As we previously reported, The Online Network (TOLN) has tapped “The Price is Right” male model Robert Scott Wilson to join the production company’s online revival of “All My Children” as a recast Pete Cortlandt.
The news, which was first broke by “AMC” co-star Jill Larson (Opal Cortlandt), who recently tweeted, “Are you following my ‘son’ “Petey?” @MrRobertScott #AMC.”
Earlier this afternoon, Prospect Park confirmed the casting announcement by issuing an official press release regarding Wilson’s joining the cast of “All My Children.”

Although his character name has yet to be confirmed by Prospect Park, it is believed that Wilson will be playing a recast Pete Cortlandt (last played by Daniel Kennedy). Actress Jill Larson recently confirmed Wilson’s joining “AMC” when she tweeted, “Are you following my ‘son’ “Petey?” @MrRobertScott #AMC.” Soap Opera Network had previously been hearing that Wilson was joining the “One Life to Live” cast.
Millions of viewers were shocked when the power went out during tonights Super Bowl XLVII (or Super Bowl 47 for those not up-to-date with their Roman numerals) game between the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. CBS issued a statement on the matter, but has sadly remained mum on its decision to ignore viewers of CBS Daytime programming, which remains #1 in its daypart via “The Young and the Restless,” “The Price is Right,” “Let’s Make a Deal,” “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “The Talk.”
As expected, CBS has renewed its entire daytime lineup that consists of “Let’s Make a Deal,” “The Price is Right,” “The Young and the Restless,” “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “The Talk” for the 2013-2014 television season.
While “Y&R” had previously been renewed for the 2013-2014 season, “B&B” was awaiting a pickup that would keep the series in production and on the network. Previously, “B&B” was only renewed through the end of the current 2012-2013 television season.
With a lineup consisting of soaps “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful,” game shows “The Price is Right” and “Let’s Make a Deal,” and talk show “The Talk,” the home of daytime television’s most watched soap opera and broadcast game show, announced just before the Thanksgiving holiday that its daytime division is now available on Facebook.
The CBS Daytime Facebook page launches months after the network first brought the daypart into the social media age with its very active Twitter page, which now has over 7,000 followers. Both social media sites promise to bring fans of the lineup up close and personal with behind the scenes coverage of current events. Earlier today the Facebook page posted a picture of Lee Phillip Bell, co-creator of “Y&R” and “B&B,” playing the role of DJ last month as the younger soap celebrated Susan Flannery‘s final day taping at Stage 31 in the CBS Television City Studios in the role of Stephanie Forrester.
For more than 10 years fans of daytime soap operas have been coming to Soap Opera Network to find out how their favorite soap was faring in the weekly ratings report. From time to time we would also provide analysis of how they stacked up when compared to their broadcast counterparts in the talk show and game show genres, but we’ve never looked at how the broadcast soaps (and to a lesser extent the broadcast talk and game shows) compared to syndicated television. Not that it wasn’t easy to provide a comparison, it was just never something we found necessary. In recent months, with the introduction of several syndicated talk shows including “Katie” and “The Steve Harvey Show,” which together took over the 3:00 PM slot from “General Hospital” in much of the country this past September after “GH” moved to 2:00 PM, and the second season without “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” things have changed. Recently, Broadcasting & Cable came out with a report that showed how syndicated programs might be a solid alternative to our soaps in the key demographics when it comes to Madison Avenue buying advertising time. While we wouldn’t want advertisers to give up on our favorite shows, B&C does provide a solid rationalization and even highlights the value of soap operas when it comes to the all important key women demos (Women 18-49, Women 25-54, etc).
Just over a week before she airs for the final time after 25 years portraying Stephanie Forrester on “The Bold and the Beautiful,” CBS has released a video montage of Susan Flannery as she got the ultimate send-off from cast and crew of the popular daytime soap opera with some help from other CBS Television City employees, including those from “The Young and the Restless,” “The Price is Right” and “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.”

On Monday, November 19, the winner of “The Price is Right’s” first ever Male Model search, Rob Wilson, will be Live Tweeting during the east coast broadcast (11:00 AM ET/8:00 AM PT) of the venerable daytime game show.
Wilson won the nearly two month long contest which found hundreds of hopefuls seeking the coveted position. The contest began with a casting call in Los Angeles on August 30 and concluded on October 8, when Wilson defeated Clint Brink and Nick Denbeigh to be named “TPIR’s” first male model.
ABC’s “General Hospital” posted its largest overall audience in nearly 21 months (since week of February 21-25, 2011) as the daytime drama series averaged 2.82 million viewers during the week of November 5-9, 2012. This was the programs largest overall audience under executive producer Frank Valentini and head writer Ron Carlivati.
The series was up 21% compared to the same week last year (week of November 7-11, 2011) in Total Viewers (2.82 million vs. 2.27 million), 54% in Women 18-34 (266,000 vs. 161,000) and 23% in Women 18-49 (679,000 vs 571,000). “General Hospital” edged “The Young and the Restless” in Women 18-34 with its largest competitive advantage in nearly 4 1/2 years (since week of June 23, 2008).
