How WATCH ABC Changes Will Affect Viewing of ‘GH,’ ‘The View’ and ‘The Chew’; Shows Also on Hulu Plus

HLN, the cable network that has broadcast the Daytime Emmy Awards for the previous two years, has decided not to make a commitment for the 41st annual Daytime Emmy Awards this year.

As first reported by Soaps In Depth, the decision was made this early so the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences could explore other options for the broadcast. “Having the show on HLN was a wonderful experience for us,” explained David Michaels, senior executive director of the Daytime Emmy Awards, to the publication. “We are currently exploring other avenues so that the Daytime Emmys will have a broadcast home.

But on what network should the Daytime Emmys air, or in what format? In a Soap Opera Network exclusive, we reached out to two Daytime Emmy winners to get their thoughts.

“Tainted Dreams,” the new web series from the creative mind of “All My Children” supervising producer Sonia Blangiardo, which looks to provide a rare, realistic view behind the scenes of producing a daily scripted drama (show within a show – “Painted Dreams”), has added Bobbie Eakes (“All My Children,” “The Bold and the Beautiful”) to its cast. NYC BRAND PRODUCTIONS, which is producing the online series, has announced Ilene Kristen (ex-Roxy Balsom), James DePaiva (ex-Max Holden) and Tonja Walker (ex-Alex Alinov) have all signed on to the soap within a soap.

In an interview with Daytime Confidential, Terri Ivens (ex-Simone Torres, “All My Children”) revealed that she has joined the cast of the Sonia Blangiardo created online drama series “Tainted Dreams.”

“I play two characters. I play the soap character, Brittany, and then I play the actress playing Brittany, who is Cassandra. It should make for some very comedic moments, some deep or tangled webs. I don’t want to give storyline away, but I will say that from what I’ve been reading, the guy that plays my brother is my lover in real life,” Ivens previews. The online soap begins filming later this summer.
