After nearly 14 years on the air, SOAPnet ended its broadcast run at the stroke of midnight with the final 2013 episode of ABC’s “General Hospital” (originally aired on Monday, December 30) taking it out in style.
During its final hour of broadcasting, viewers were treated to endless commercials promoting ABC and ABC Family programming, including “General Hospital,” “Revenge,” “The Chew,” “The Fosters,” “Switched at Birth,” “Pretty Little Liars,” and “Ravenswood.” For those veiwers looking to tune into the midnight broadcast of “Days of our Lives,” they were treated to a message from their cable and/or satellite provider that read, “Disney discontinued their SOAPnet broadcast. The SOAPnet channel is no longer available from any television provider.”
Justin Bruening fans may want to prepare themselves for a few extra heartbeats in the months ahead, because the seriously sexy actor is headed to ABC Family’s “Pretty Little Liars” spinoff, “Ravenswood.”
Jesse Lee Soffer (ex-Will Munson, “As The World Turns”) has joined the cast of NBC’s “Chicago PD,” the spinoff of their hit drama series “Chicago Fire,” reports Deadline Hollywood. According to the website, Soffer will portray “a young police detective who grew up on the wrong side of the tracks.” It is understood that Soffer’s character will be first introduced this fall on “Fire” before appearing fulltime on “PD,” which debuts in midseason on the network.
The harrowing real-life case of Jodi Arias has gripped the nation for months, and hot off the heels of the 28-year-old woman’s conviction last week for murdering her former lover, Travis Alexander, comes a Lifetime original movie detailing Arias’ life and the details behind the killing that shocked America.
“Jodi Aria: Dirty Little Secret” stars Tania Raymonde (“Texas Chainsaw 3D,” “Switched at Birth,” “Lost”) as Arias, an aspiring photographer found guilty of murdering Alexander (Jesse Lee Soffer; Will Munson, “As The World Turns”), who was found nude in his shower with a slit throat, 27 additional stab wounds and a bullet to the head. Look for the horrifying movie, which also stars David Zayas (“Dexter”) and Tony Plana (“Ugly Betty”), to air on Lifetime on Saturday, June 22 at 8pm ET/PT.
