UPDATE 4/7/13: While it is the same duration in length, TOLN has released a revised version of the “One Life to Live” recap video. The revised video removes usage of Little Richard singing and playing the piano during Bo and Nora’s 1995 wedding. To accomodate, fans are able to see an additional second or two of the wedding as the duo walks up the aisle.
PREVIOUS 4/4/13: For more than 43 years ABC’s “One Life to Live” entertained millions of viewers each and every weekday, week after week, year after year. Sadly, the network canceled the soap in 2011 and the series aired its then final episode in January 2012. Now, in anticipation of its return on Hulu, Hulu Plus and iTunes on Monday, April 29, The OnLine Network has released a recap of the series as hosted by Erika Slezak (Victoria Lord Buchanan).
Nearly 8 minutes in length, Slezak covers the trials and tribulations faced by the youth of Llanview, including the birth of Destiny Evans and Matthew Buchanan’s (previously played by Shenell Edmonds and Eddie Alderson) child, The Tale of Todd, Blair and Tea (Roger Howarth, Kassie DePaiva and Florencia Lozano) and the whole Manning clan – including Victor Lord, Jr. (Trevor St. John)!
On Wednesday, Soap Opera Network reported that actress Laura Harrier had been cast in the contract role of Destiny Evans on the reboot of “One Life to Live.” Now the characters originator, Shenell Edmonds, has taken to Facebook to make clear that she had been in talks with Prospect Park about a possibility of returning to the soap, but the company was unable to come to an agreement with her that would have accommodated her school schedule.
Soap Opera Network has learned exclusively that Laura Harrier has been cast in the contract role of Destiny Evans on “One Life to Live.” She replaces Shenell Edmonds, who portrayed the character on the ABC version of the series from 2009-2012. No word yet on who will be portraying the recast version of Matthew Buchanan, last played by Eddie Alderson.
“OLTL” marks Harrier’s first role as a series regular on television.
Reporting by Errol Lewis and Scotty Gore
As recently noted, Prospect Park’s “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” are currently in the casting phase of their reboots as we get closer to their expected first film date, which Soap Opera Network has learned will be in Mid February for both series in Stamford, CT.
Sadly, some of the roles being cast appear to be recasts of characters from the ABC eras of the shows. In addition to the expected recasting of “One Life to Live’s” Matthew Buchanan and Destiny Evans (last played by Eddie Alderson and Shenell Edmonds), “All My Children” is also said to be recasting the roles of JR Chandler (last played by Jacob Young) and Cassandra Foster (last portrayed by Yaya DaCosta). For those that may not recall, Cassandra is the adopted daughter of Angela Hubbard (Debbi Morgan), who the good doctor found abandoned in a dumpster during her run on ABC’s “The City” back in the mid-1990′s. The character returned as an 18 year-old seeking comfort from mommy dearest in 2008.
Prospect Park first announced plans to move “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” to the web back in July 2011 after striking a license holding deal with Disney/ABC Domestic Television. Sadly, plans fell through by November 2011 after apparent financing and union discussions fell through. Since that dreadful time period, Prospect Park has resumed work on returning the soaps to your [computer] screens, only this time with financing said to be in place and union deals already signed with the DGA (directors), SAG-AFTRA (actors) and the WGA (writers). With more than a year gone by since “One Life to Live” last aired, we thought it would be a great opportunity to see which stars have (so far) signed on to return to “AMC” and “OLTL” compared to the list circling back in 2011.
As you may, or may not know, Prospect Park’s reboot of “One Life to Live” is currently recasting the roles of Matthew Buchanan and Destiny Evans, last played by actors Eddie Alderson and Shenell Edmonds on the ABC version of the soap. According to a character breakdown Soap Opera Network readers had been discussing ad nauseam over the weekend, it looks as though Prospect Park may be taking the title of the soap a little more seriously as it gets ready to transition into its new online format. According to a summarized breakdown, the soap appears to be including profane words and apparently is portraying Matthew as a deadbeat father.
Note: While this is a summarized breakdown of roles currently being cast, this does not in any way mean that a finalized script for the characters will utilize such details nor can any character traits described be expected to appear in the final on air/online version of the series.
(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Last summer I was lucky enough to be included as an interviewee in the new soap opera themed documentary appropriately titled “Soap Life,” which follows the life, and possible death, of daytime soap operas. I can’t believe I forgot all about it and didn’t realize it until this morning!
Several past and present actors, producers, journalists and writers were interviewed for the documentary including Lisa LoCicero, Rick Hearst, Kristen Renton, Jill Larson, Bradford Anderson, Carolyn Hennesy, Mimi Torchin, Shenell Edmonds, Ronnie Marmo, Cady McClain, Derk Cheetwood, Jordi Vilasuso, Max Tapper, Lexi Ainsworth, Crystal Hunt, Bobbie Eakes, Gary Tomlin, Sean Ringgold, Francesca James, Julia Barr, Eileen Fulton, and many more.
The crew behind the documentary recently surpassed their goal of raising $12,000 in funding for the project, but if you’d like to help out you are more than welcome to do so.
“Soap Life” is a new documentary about the changes taking place in the world of daytime drama. As more and more classic soap operas are cancelled or forced to move to exclusively new media distribution, the landscape of American television is going through unprecedented changes. We’ve spoken with executives, fans and a number of current and former daytime stars to get their perspective on what it all means and what lies ahead.
We are trying to raise the last amount of funds needed to finish our documentary. We still have a few weeks left to film in NYC and then post production where we need to edit, color correct, and clean up the audio.
We hope to finish the film within the next few months and the money we raise will help this become a reality.
Our gifts include a pre-order of the DVD, a collectible poster, an invite to the film’s premier, a special thanks in the credits, and the chance to make an appearance in the documentary.

Even though I was tossed out after all that time, I too, would like to say what a great way to spend most of my adult life and I wouldn’t change it for the world. There are only some people that I wish nothing but the best in the future and for the others….well I don’t want to sound bitter but ….. As Bob Hope said, ‘Thanks for the memories.’”
(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — ‘One Life to Live’ updated comings and goings for November and other odds and ends.
Jonathan Earl Peck returns later this month as Agent Malcolm Baker, the hired hand of Todd’s (Roger Howarth) late mother Irene Manning (Barbara Rhoades). Look for Baker to team up with someone unexpected.
Remember the recent audition script for the role of Dr. Fascinella? While the name of the actor cast in the recurring role is unknown, except the plastic surgeon and his receptionist to first appear in mid-November when several Llanview residents head to the doctor’s office in Brazil, where one of them makes a surprising discovery.
Frankie Faison is back again as Richard Evans. On October 13, Sean Ringgold (Shaun) posted a picture of himself with his on-screen father and sister Destiny (Shenell Edmonds), along with the comment “Hey guys about to shoot some scenes with my Family . Heads are going to Roll LoL.”
Did one of those Kentucky cops look a little familiar last month? Isaac Hirotsu Woofter, who played a member of Rick Powers’ (Austin Peck) porn film crew back in April and June, portrayed Cop #1 on October 17. Cop #2 was played by Paul Hickert.
Starr is about to make some more music. Kristen Alderson tweeted Thursday that she “recorded a song with @oltlmusic ['OLTL' Music Director Paul S. Glass],” who tweeted “Great work today Kristen!! Hard to believe all we’ve done over the years! You’ve been a superstar since day 1!!”
