On Friday, November 23, which just happens to be the day after Thanksgiving, former “One Life to Live” star Nic Robuck takes on his dark side as the star of Lifetime Movie Network’s world premiere movie “Dark Desire.”
The film, which we first reported on back in August while under the title “A Dark Plan,” follows Robuck in the role of Shane, who comforts the unhappily married mother of his recently deceased roommate while she mourns the loss of her son. Kelly Lynch (“Magic City”) portrays the mother, who soon realizes that Shane may have been the one responsible for the death of her son.
Nic Robuck (ex-James Ford, “One Life to Live”) has landed his first feature film role, reports ABC Soaps In Depth. The actor has signed on to play the lead in the film “A Dark Plan.”
“I play the lead character, Shane Dempsey, a sociopath who had a horrible upbringing. He will do anything for the love of others… even kill if he’s desperate enough!” said Robuck to Soaps In Depth. “He’s a bit like James in that they both had rough upbringings,” Robuck revealed, “but Shane has much deeper, darker-rooted issues and isn’t quite stable.”
(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — As we previously reported, “One Life to Live” was forced to replace Brandon Buddy with Van Hughes in the role of Cole Thornhart just one day after Buddy reprised the role for an upcoming storyline with ex-girlfriend Starr Manning (Kristen Alderson). Now the actor has taken to Twitter to apologize to fans for the sudden turn of events.
In a series of tweets dated Thursday, November 10, Buddy explains, “Hi everyone! I wanted to say that I am so sorry that I was unable to make a return to ‘OLTL’ as I intended due to personal family issues. I cherish the time that I had on the show and always will. The fans mean more to me then words can express. I’m devastated about this! Again I am so sorry! Thank you all for your love and support! It really helps me in times like this. Thank you and God bless!”
Buddy’s journey back to the set of “One Life” began in early August when he posted another series of tweets begging fans to help him get back on the show. “I want/need everyone to send in your love for cole! I’m tired of sitting around. Get me back on the the show so I can finish what I started. I love my fans/friends let’s go!!! No more f**ging around!!!!!!!!! Ok!!! Let me think! I hope I don’t get in trouble for this! …..standby! : ),” said the actor at the time.
Although both Buddy and the show are keeping mum on the specific reason as to the need for an emergency recast, Texas public court records from Travis County indicate that an individual with the full name Brandon Robert Buddy, which is the actors full name, along with matching birthday (verified by Soap Opera Network via district clerk), is scheduled to appear before a judge next month on charges of “INJURY CHILD/ELDERLY/DISABLE W/INT SBI/MENTAL,” or allegedly causing harm to a Child/Elderly/Disabled person with the intention to cause serious bodily injury or mental injury.
Buddy was reportedly involved in a traffic accident early last month. On October 8, he tweeted “So check this out! I was headed to Dallas for the Texas OU game yesterday and someone rear ended me going over 60 mph totaling my car. I had to climb out of the window to get out of the car! Craziness!”
While there is no reason to presume that Buddy’s personal family matter is in anyway tied to these reported legal issues, Soap Opera Network wishes Buddy nothing but the best as he works to get things back on track.
Meanwhile, “OLTL” is moving forward with Van Hughes in the role. The Broadway vet, who reshot all of Buddy’s scenes, taped for the first time with Alderson last Tuesday. In fact, she tweeted on Friday (November 11) that “Nic [Robuck],Van, & I have been working extremely hard for the #Jarr & #Sole fans! Having a lot of fun, can’t wait until you guys see what happens!”
(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Looks like another ghostly return for “One Life to Live.” John Wesley Shipp, who played the abusive father of the Ford brothers and ex-husband of their mom Inez Salinger (Jessica Leccia) appears to be headed back to Llanview for the show’s final days on the air. But just what brings the murdered deadbeat dad back to the canvas?
In a lengthy note posted on his Facebook page, Shipp wrote in part that “The ideas for this last week of ‘OLTL’ on ABC truly approach brilliance; when I was told, roughly, what I would be asked to do, it was not what I had thought, and man was I psyched. I tripped on the idea for a week before I ever got the script lol. Kudos to Ron Calivati and his staff, to Exec Producer Frank Valentini whose praises I continue to sing (some show is going to grab him up if they’re not careful) and a technical crew that not only functions with the proficiency that comes from doing this alot of years, but every time you give, they give back, and you feel it.”
Eddie was last seen as a corpse back on April 26 when he was murdered in cold blood by the now comatose Matthew Buchanan (Eddie Alderson). No word on a first airdate for Shipp’s scenes, which were taped late last week, although they are expected to air sometime in early January. It is also unknown if Leccia will be reprising the role of Inez as well.

The young lady was Alyssa Rose, daughter of New York Mets announcer Howie Rose. She also appeared on the show back on July 6 as a “patient representative,” which marked her debut as a television actress.
Although first airdates remain unknown for Kathy Brier (Marcie) and Chris Stack (Michael), Brier tweeted on August 30 that she was “@ OLTL in the Hair & Make-up Room…I will be going back for a bit…and yes I am really preggers!,” along with this picture of herself in the make-up chair. Look for both Brier and Stack to return to Llanview with Marcie and Michael’s little son Gabriel Thomas. Also, ABC SID reports that Brier’s pregnancy will be written into the show.
The magazine also reports that Tina (Andrea Evans) and Cord (John Loprieno) will stick around Llanview for awhile when they return on September 26 and 28, respectively. In fact, Head Writer Ron Carlivati tells the mag. that he has a big fall storyline planned involving the two of them.
Look for some more dayplayer characters in the coming weeks, including a lawyer and a mystery man.
Christopher Stadulis played an Agent on Monday, August 22.
Get ready for a music video to go along with Starr’s (Kristen Alderson) new single. Alderson tweeted earlier this week that “A new song & a music video to go along w/it for the show! Are u dying w/excitement yet?l ol that’s all I can say with out getting in trouble. Such a blast in the recording studio with @oltlmusic today. I can’t wait for you guys to hear the new Starr/Baz [Barret Helms] song!”
On a related note, “OLTL” Music Director Paul S. Glass tweets that “Mixing right now Kristen….sounds incredible! Definitely a blast!! Thanks!” He also said on September 5 that “the Viki/Dorian [Erika Slezak/Robin Strasser] montage was ‘Moments’ by Josh Auer. We had Josh do special version but the original is available on iTunes.” And he responds to fan who asks the name of a song Jessica sang while on the run way back when Erin Torpey was still in the role by tweeting “Wow..that goes way back! That song is ‘I Will Be the Flame’ by a singer/songwriter Sarah Symons.” Check out Glass’ Twitter page for more comments and thoughts on Starr and Baz’s single.
David A. Gregory (Ford) tries to clear up some confusion surrounding “One Life’s” transition to Prospect Park by posting a message on his Facebook page: “Hey everyone. Just wanted to let you know that, as of now, I have no new news about who else is heading to the online show, when the online production begins, where it films etc. Not sure when our last tape date for TV is, although I’m told it’s just before Thanksgiving. Hope this helps. Sorry I cannot answer all questions.”
Is Andrew Trischitta (Jack) making the moving with “OLTL” to online-only distribution? On September 8, the actor responded to a fan who asked if he was interesting in continuing with the show after it leaves ABC by tweeting “I would love to do so.”
And Robin Strasser (ex-Dorian) also chimed in, tweeting on September 5 that “NO, haven’t been asked to participate in prospective Prospect Park ‘OLTL.’ NOR in ‘OLTL’s’ last final months. Diss-appointing? yes-Surprising-no.” And then earlier this evening, after learning that “OLTL” Executive Producer Frank Valentini would be continuing on with the show after it moves to Prospect Park, Strasser added “NO WAY! JUST HEARD: Frank Valentini signed EP Prospect Park ‘OLTL?’ Smart move that, wonder if there’s a chance they’LL call me? prolly SLIM 2 none : (”
(SoapOperaNetwork.com) – Brandon Buddy, who left “One Life to Live” in November 2010 shortly after a hacking controversy on Twitter, is now using the social network service again by seeking assistance from fans of Starr (Kristen Alderson) and Cole (Buddy) to get him back on the show.
You’ll recall it was last summer when the actor claimed his twitter account was hacked (revealing that fact nearly a week after the reported hacking took place) and he wasn’t leaving “One Life to Live” (even though he did anyway). Although this time no claims of a hacking have been reported, the actor is asking fans to help him return to the soap as it winds down so that he can “finish what I started.”
According to Buddy’s postings, which began on August 8, he states “I want/need everyone to send in your love for cole! I’m tired of sitting around. Get me back on the the show so I can finish what I started. I love my fans/friends let’s go!!! No more f**ging around!!!!!!!!! Ok!!! Let me think! I hope I don’t get in trouble for this! …..standby! : )”
The postings continued on August 9, when he said “I want starr and my hope back! My peeps are the best so let’s make it happen!!! Idk! Ill find out but it has to happen. Abc!!! Let’s go! I’m ready! So are the fans! Now I’m not sure what’s going to happen with the whole oltl thing because I guess its a lot more complicated then we think so…. But I still feel really strong about finishing what I started and get my girls back : ) I guess we just wait and see…”
Buddy previously stated back in April mere hours before the soap was canceled by ABC that he’d “love to come back.”
What do you think? Should Buddy return before “One Life to Live” signs off? What about Starr’s newfound relationship with James Ford (Nic Robuck)?
Sound Off! below
(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Llanview loses a Todd, Dorian moves on to a higher calling, Kelly makes her next move, and other casting changes for the month of August.
As we previously reported, Trevor St. John (Todd) revealed on his website in June that he would be leaving “One Life to Live” when his current contract ends this summer. We now know his final tape date, which, according to Soap Opera Digest was last Friday (July 22). SOD also reports that St. John treated his fellow cast and crew mates to a catered breakfast, lunch, and snacks on set, and his onscreen daughter Kristen Alderson (Starr) tweeted that she had received “Gorgeous ‘thank you’ flowers from Trevor St. John… Going to MISS him around the studio. Love, love, love him.” Just a few days earlier she also commented that “Trevor made us laugh, laugh, & laugh today!”
According to reports “OLTL” has ripped a page from the headlines to help give Robin Strasser (Dorian) a proper sendoff. Apparently, Mayor Lord will be receiving an offer too good to pass up in the coming weeks when she is called to serve as a Senator after her predecessor is ousted as a result of a scandal that is eerily similar to that of real-life former Congressman Anthony Weiner of New York. Strasser, who last airs on Thursday, August 25, is reportedly leaving “One Life” as a result of back problems.
August also marks a new chapter in the life of another Cramer girl as Dorian’s niece Kelly (Gina Tognoni), who just recently reunited with her old beau Joey Buchanan (Tom Degnan), makes a decision about her future on Wednesday, August 17.
And, just because James (Nic Robuck) hasn’t been seen lately, don’t look for him to be leaving Llanview anytime soon. In fact, look for he and Starr to grow closer in the coming weeks.
In other news…
Meena Nerurkar and Harsh Nayyar play Vimal’s (Nick Choksi) parents from India.
Helmar Augustus Cooper portrayed Louie, the man who pulled the man with the scar (Roger Howarth) out of the Llantano River last Friday.
Austin Peck is still taping scenes as the sleazy porn producer Rick Powers.
Carlos Gonzalez appeared again as Officer Garcia back on Tuesday, July 19.
Look for some courtroom scenes coming up next month as Clint (Jerry verDorn) prepares to face the music for the crimes he recently confessed to. The scenes will also feature a dayplayer judge and Clint’s attorney, however, it is unclear at this time if the Buchanan patriarch hires Morgan Guthrie (Tom Zeman) to represent him, or if he gets someone else.
Kristen Alderson tweeted this picture of herself in her Starr clothes as she prepared to tape scenes on July 19 along with the tweet “All dressed and ready for Llanview! Have a great day everyone!” Later she commented that it was “Nap Time in Llanview. So Cozy..” So keep a watch out in the coming week’s for Starr’s green dress.
Is Barret Helms (Baz) not long for Llanview? Last Saturday he tweeted a fan that “It’s gonna be a while til I work again.” And on June 21 he tweeted that he had “Just finished one of the craziest 13 week periods of my life!!” It should be noted that Helms was cast on April 14, the day ABC cancelled “One Life to Live” and “All My Children.”
David A. Gregory (Ford) has also been MIA from the studios lately. The actor commented on Facebook on July 17 that “I haven’t been in to the studio this month. Going back in soon.”
Check out these adorable pictures of Andrew Trischitta (Jack) hanging out at the “OLTL” studios last week with his onscreen little brother Patrick Gibbons, Jr. (Sam). And here’s a picture of the plaque outside Trischitta’s dressing room which also lists his “roommates” Eddie Alderson (Matthew) and David A. Gregory.
And “OLTL’s” Music Director Paul S. Glass, responds to a question from a fan asking about the name of the song played in the closing montage of the June 11, 2008 episode (where Adriana left Rex for Paris), by tweeting that it was “CARMEN RIZZO ‘Next Life,’ featuring Thomas Hanreich.”
