Let’s Make a Deal

During first quarter 2014, CBS' full daytime lineup was up 13% compared to first quarter 2013, per Nielsen Media Research data. Additionally, "The Talk" and "Let's Make a Deal" delivered their largest-ever first quarter in total viewers and key women. Meanwhile, "The Young and the Restless" and "The Bold and the Beautiful" delivered their largest audiences since first quarter 2008, with "Y&R" averaging 5.51 million viewers, up 11% from last year, and "B&B" averaging 4.02 million viewers, up 10% from last year. "The Price is Right" was also attracted its best numbers since 2004 and 2005, respectively.

Last week’s ratings for soaps may have been a little low (as Soap Opera Network reported here), but as for February Sweeps? “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “The Young and the Restless” kicked some major you-know-what!
Huge congratulations are in order for CBS Daytime, as the network’s entire lineup managed to attract its largest weekly audience in more than eight years!

The recent behind-the-scenes drama over at “The Young and the Restless” has created quite a storm, but a little bit of sunshine broke through the clouds today when CBS announced it has renewed the 40-year-old soap opera through 2017. Fans of the show have taken to Twitter to congratulate the cast and crew, and they’re not alone in the celebration: The actors are also thrilled that the sudser they call home received the official extension.
During the CBS portion of the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour this morning, Nina Tassler, President, CBS Entertainment, announced the early renewals of the network's full daytime lineup consisting of soap operas "The Bold and the Beautiful" and "The Young and the Restless," game shows "Let's Make a Deal" and "The Price is Right," and talk show "The Talk." The renewal for next season (2014-2015) follows a season full of growth for the network in viewers and the all important key women sales demos for all of its daytime programs. "Y&R" was renewed through the 2016-2017 season, the network said.
With its lineup consisting of soaps "The Young and the Restless" and "The Bold and the Beautiful," game shows "The Price is Right" and "Let's Make a Deal," and talker "The Talk," CBS Daytime posted double-digit growth during the fourth quarter in viewers compared to the year-ago period, while each series was up or even in Women 25-54 and Women 18-49. In fact, "Y&R" was first in both key women demos.
With its combination of soaps, game shows and a talk show, the CBS Daytime lineup consisting of "The Young and the Restless," "The Bold and the Beautiful," "Let's Make a Deal," "The Price is Right" and "The Talk" posted growth during the November 2013 sweeps period, according to Nielsen Live Plus Sam Day ratings data.
Daytime’s number one rated show, “The Young and the Restless,” can’t be stopped! Not only has the sudser maintained the top spot in soap opera ratings for a consecutive 1,294 weeks, the latest Nielsen ratings reveal that the show notched nearly five million viewers for the week ending Sunday, October 27 — its largest audience in nearly two years! It’s not hard to laugh, but across the board, daytime stars agree that it’s not easy to be funny! That being said, some of the industry’s most popular talent — “The Price Is Right’s” Drew Carey, “Let’s Make a Deal’s” Wayne Brady, and “The Talk’s” Aisha Tyler and Sheryl Underwood — certainly make it look easy to be hilarious day in and day out. Noticing the top-notch humor present in their daytime lineup, CBS decided to gather those said stars together at Hollywood’s legendary venue, The Comedy Store, to perform an evening of standup comedy benefitting a cancer charity. The result: CBS Daytime After Dark, Stand Up to Cancer — a fun event definitely worth smiling about!
America's most watched network (CBS) and the second largest cable operator in the country (Time Warner Cable) are battling it out over retransmission fees and come Wednesday, July 24, fans of CBS' programming including "The Young and the Restless," "The Bold and the Beautiful," "The Talk," "The Big Bang Theory," "2 Broke Girls," and more could find their screens blackened if they live in:
Aisha Tyler ("The Talk") and Wayne Brady ("Let's Make a Deal") are not only appearing daily in their successful CBS Daytime shows, but the two have also joined together to successfully re-launch "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" the former ABC series "where everything is made up and the points do not matter." Now airing on The CW for a summer run, "Whose Line" averaged 2.9 million viewers and 1.1/4 in Adults 18-49 for its two-episode premiere last night according to TVbytheNumbers. Per the website, show helped give The CW its best performance in Adults 18-49 rating in its given time period since February 1, 2011.
