TV Guide Reveals TV’s Highest Paid Stars: The Soap Opera Edition

In its newest issue, TV Guide Magazine has revealed some of televisions highest paid stars. As you can imagine, the list comprises of former daytime soap stars who’ve either gone on to host their own talk show or headline a top ranked primetime series, or in the case of primetime soap stars – gotten richer!

tops the list of stars with a soap opera connection as the host of the daytime talk show “Live with Kelly.” According to TV Guide, the former “All My Children” star rakes in an estimated salary of $20 million per year. Meanwhile, Michael Weatherly went from “Loving” in the 1990′s to “NCIS” agent for a cool $175,000 per episode. , Weatherly’s co-star on “NCIS,” generates an estimated $500,000 per episode and is the highest paid actor (scripted). The magazine, however, does not make note as to whether that amount includes his executive producer credit or if it is based solely on appearance alone. Harmon starred in the short lived 1980′s primetime soap “Flamingo Road,” which preceded his ground breaking role in “.”

“Guiding Light” turned “White Collar” star Matt Bomer makes an estimated $110,000 per episode of his uber popular USA Network series. Also hailing from “Guiding Light” is Hayden Panettierre, who will take in an estimated $75,000 an episode for her starring role in the upcoming new series “Nashville.” The show stars Connie Britton as a fading country star, but Britton will take in $100,000 per episode for her efforts.

The stars of “Grey’s Anatomy” recently renegotiated new deals to continue on the series for another two seasons. With the shows ninth season debuting in September, stars Patrick Dempsey, and Ellen Pompeo will now make an estimated $350,000 an episode.

Although he hasn’t appeared on a soap for some time, Alec Baldwin gained notoriety in the 1980′s after starring in the daytime soap “The Doctors” and the primetime soap opera “Knot’s Landing.” Now starring in “30 Rock,” Baldwin commands an estimated $300,000 per episode. “30 Rock” is expected to complete its seventh and final season with just 13 episodes beginning October 4. Mariska Hargitay, who recurred on primetime soap “Falcon Crest” in 1988, is the highest paid actress (scripted) taking in $385,000 per episode for her work on “Law & Order: Special Victim’s Unit.”

‘Guiding Light’s’ Matt Bomer: Somebody That I Used to Know

The list included such artists as Rihanna, Lady Gaga, , and the . The “Glee” cast ranks eighth with 32 million songs digitally downloaded.

Best known to mainstream viewers for his portrayal of Neal Caffrey on the USA Network hit series “,” Bomer actually caught his big break in 2001 when he joined the cast of “” as Ben Reade. Although he left the CBS soap in 2003, the actor went on to become one of the actors to be in the running for the role of , although he didn’t get the part. He also appeared in episodes of “” and “.” In October 2011, in the role of Henry Hamilton, Bomer helped kickstart the storyline of the film “In Time” starring Justin Timberlake.

FOX has ordered a second season of freshman breakout hit NEW GIRL, a third installment of the irreverent family comedy RAISING HOPE and a fourth season of the genre-defying musical sensation GLEE, it was announced today by Kevin Reilly, President of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company.

“Over the past season, NEW GIRL has become the hottest new appointment series for young adults; RAISING HOPE has established itself as one of the smartest and most unique offbeat comedies on television; and GLEE has continued its success as a genre-defying, global cultural phenomenon,” said Reilly. “All three of these comedies add a fresh and distinctive flavor to our Tuesday nights, and I’m really happy to bring them back to our air next season.”

All-new episodes of GLEE return to Tuesdays (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT), beginning tomorrow, April 10, with NEW GIRL remaining at 9:00-9:31 PM ET/PT, and RAISING HOPE returning to its regular time slot at 9:31-10:00 PM ET/PT.

Currently in its first season, NEW GIRL is the No. 1 new series among Adults 18-34 and the No. 2 new scripted series among Adults 18-49. The show stars as a school teacher who moved in with three single guys, and their new friendships changed their lives in unexpected ways. The Golden Globe-nominated series also stars , , and Hannah Simone. In the all-new “Normal” episode airing tomorrow, Tuesday, April 10 (9:00-9:31 PM ET/PT), Jess (Deschanel) invites Russell (guest star Dermot Mulroney) to spend the weekend at the loft. ABC Sets Carol Burnett’s First Airdate on ‘All My Children’

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — One of the first high-profile returns announced following news of the cancellation of “All My Children” on ABC this past April was that of as Verla Grubbs. Soap Opera Network has learned Burnett will mark her re-entrance into Pine Valley society on Tuesday, September 6. The comedic legend started taping her scenes this past Friday, August 12. Burnett is expected to appear in several episodes of the soap.

The 78-year-old actress originated the role of Langley Wallingford’s ()  long-lost daughter  in 1983. Burnett is a vocal fan and long-time viewer of “All My Children.” Along with her 1983 debut, Burnett reprised the role of Verla on the soap in 1995 to celebrate its 25th Anniversary and again in 2005 to celebrate its 35th Anniversary. In 1995, Burnett also hosted a prime-time special on ABC to honor her favorite daytime drama on it’s silver Anniversary.

Burnett is one of the most famous comedians of any gender of all-time. She starred on the successful CBS comedy variety show “” from 1967 to 1978. Burnett has guest appeared on numerous series including older favorites like “,” “” and “” to newer series like NBC’s “,” ABC’s “” and FOX’s “Glee” She was also the first celebrity to air on a little PBS program called “Sesame Street” in 1969. The television, stage and movie actress who has earned nearly every prestigious honor available for a legend has also earned six Prime-time Emmy Awards as a performer and a producer and no less than five Golden Globe Awards as a performer.

Look for Verla to hit the Pine Valley scene with her unique sense of humor just as Erica (Susan Lucci) finds herself in the unique position of having to help deal with Opal’s (Jill Larson) man trouble.
