As previously reported, Anthony Geary appeared on today’s edition of ABC’s “The View.” Geary was there to help celebrate and honor the 50th anniversary of “General Hospital,” whose cast he’s been part of for the last 35 years (off and on).

“He’s full of surprises,” says Geary on how his character Luke Spencer has survived on “GH” after all these years. “I think he’s full of surprises, I don’t think you could say he was a hero or a villain  He’s always shades of grey. I always look for humor in the most dramatic situations and drama in the humor. He’s just not very cliche.”

After what must have been a very successful marathon of classic episodes of ABC’s “General Hospital” this past weekend, SOAPnet has announced that it plans to re-run the marathon again this weekend beginning Friday, April 5 at 10:00 PM ET/PT and running through Monday, April 8 at 12:00 AM ET/PT (Sunday night/Monday morning).

Tweet with cast members of ABC’s “General Hospital” today, April 1, using hashtag #GH50 during the East Coast broadcast of the daytime soap (2:00 – 3:00 PM ET/11:00 AM – 12:00 PM PT). Fans of ABC’s “General Hospital” will not only be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the iconic daytime soap today, but will also be able to own a piece of the soaps history.

Beginning today, April 1, ABC is offering fans of the show the chance to purchase limited edition prints spanning the decades of the series. In a press release issued just a short time ago, the network noted that they are releasing new prints from the series that captures the most jaw-dropping moments from “GH’s” five storied decades. “An iconic 50th Anniversary Cast Photo is part of the limited edition offering (pictured), which includes fan-favorite characters from past and present commemorating the occasion. Only 1,963 reproductions of the print are available — the year the show premiered,” the network said.

While the previously planned celebratory episode will now air on Tuesday, April 2, due to a national network preemption on Wednesday, March 13, fans will not be disappointed with the returns of such “GH” legends as Rachel Ames (Audrey Hardy), Stuart Damon (Alan Quartermaine) and Chris Robinson (Rick Webber), who were all originally scheduled to appear on the Friday, March 29 episode of the soap prior to the aforementioned preemption.

50 Years, 51 Episodes, 50 Hours

As previously reported, beginning Friday, March 29 at 10:00 PM ET/PT and running through Monday, April 1 at 12:00 AM ET/PT (Sunday night/Monday morning), SOAPnet will be airing a 50-hour marathon of 51 classic episodes from the 50 years of ABC’s “General Hospital.”

The marathon is kicked off with the very first episode of the drama series, which aired on April 1, 1963. Episodes from every decade the show has been on the air will be featured.

On Saturday, April 6, fans of ABC’s “General Hospital” will be able to learn more about the 50 year history of one of television’s longest running programs. On that day, ABC News will feature the soap during that night’s airing of “20/20,” Soap Opera Network has learned.

“GH’s” Kelly Monaco (Sam McCall) tweeted on Monday, “Just finished a sit down interview with 20/20 for #gh 50 year anniversary. #blessed #proud #honored.” Lisa LoCicero (Olivia Falconeri) also tweeted about being part of the episode. “But the lovely man doing the story for ’20/20′ did tell me i am a ‘sound bite machine’…” More star appearances are expected to be announced next week along with the timeslot in which fans can expect to tune in.
