Cast members and friends of the beloved actress, including Melody Thomas Scott, Christian Le Blanc, Tracey E. Bregman, Eric Braeden and “The Bold and the Beautiful’s” John McCook and Heather Tom, as well as family members such as her son, Corbin Bernsen, recently gathered on set to shoot a celebration of the life of their late friend, who passed away earlier this month at the age of 84. “The Young and the Restless’” Eric Braeden has played Victor Newman for an outstanding 33 years, and one thing he has noticed in those three decades of hard work is that there actually is a magic formula to thank for his success and the success of the long-running sudser: Simply staying real.

When Jeanne Cooper first stepped into “The Young and the Restless’” Genoa City as Katherine Chancellor back in 1973, soap opera history was made. Written by show creator William J. Bell specifically to convey controversial storylines that would boost weak ratings, Katherine was everything the wealthy wife of Phillip Chancellor II shouldn’t be: a drunk, a heavy smoker and a bit of a slut who had illicit affairs with stable boys. Despite the character’s many problems, fans fell in love with Katherine — as well as the actress who so effortlessly brought her to life.

“She was one of a kind and she held my hand for 35 years. She helped me be a better actor, husband, parent, and friend. My life was so enriched having known her. She was such a loving, kind soul. With Jeanne, there was no judgment, no rules. She loved you for you. She always had time for you and was so gracious with her love. For me, she was a personal giant, an sublime example of how to behave on planet Earth. I will miss her more than I can describe. I will say with certainty, that Heaven just got a hell of a lot more interesting! ….God’s speed, my dear friend. I love you,” said Doug Davidson (Paul Willliams, “The Young and the Restless”) in a statement released to Soap Opera Network.

“She was an absolute joy to work with. We never did a scene without having laughs. After a painful struggle she has finally found peace. I will miss working with her a lot,” said Eric Braeden (Victor Newman, “Y&R”)

“RIP Jeanne Cooper (1911-2013) Dead,” read an inappropriate tweet by tweeter @BravoMaxine, which was tweeted to twitter accounts @ebraeden @melodythomassco @victoriarowell. The tweet received a response from Victoria Rowell (ex-Drucilla Winters, “The Young and the Restless”) who said, “A special lady & great Native American actress.” Thankfully, we can report that Jeanne Cooper (Katherine Chancellor, “The Young and the Restless”), who was actually born in 1928, is very much alive as stated by Eric Braeden (Victor Newman, “Y&R”), “Contrary to some statement, Jeanne Cooper is doing better and sitting with her daughter Caren by her bedside!!”

When you’re front and center on a soap opera day in and day out, life can be a little hectic. Just ask “The Young and the Restless’” Michael Muhney (Adam Newman), who verges on spending more time as his alter ego than he does himself! “With a character like Adam that’s always in the mix, the sheer content alone — the amount of pages that I memorize daily, with a front and center kind of character — it’s madness!” he says with a laugh. “But you adapt and you kind of get in your groove, and now I can’t believe how much this place feels like home.”

It’s only been a few weeks since Melissa Ordway took over for Emme Rylan as “The Young and the Restless’” Abby, and the actress already feels right at home. That’s partly because the cast has been together a lot celebrating the show’s 40th Anniversary, but it’s also because, as the actress puts it, the entire cast is just like a real family.

“The experience has been amazing,” the former “Hollywood Heights” star reveals. “The first scene I had was with Eric [Braeden, Victor Newman] and Joshua [Morrow, Nicholas Newman] — basically my whole family.  I was so intimated, because I had watched the show forever, so I was like, ‘Oh my gosh! I have a scene with all of these people that I’ve grown up watching?!” But they were all so lovely and kind, and they made me feel right at home immediately.”

If you think you know everything there is to know about “The Young and the Restless’” sexy star, Daniel Goddard (Cane Ashby), you’d better think again! Soap Opera Network caught up with the actor during the sudser’s 40th Anniversary Celebration, and he let us in on a few secrets — including the fact that he’s a sucker for all things wedding!

While many guys would much prefer guns, bombs and business to the generally more feminine love, romance and courtship, Goddard isn’t one of them. “I’ve had a lot of action sequences; I was on a show before that was an action-based show [“Beast Master”], and for me now, it’s all about just connecting with the audience and with what I think the audience is responding to,” he says. “This is daytime, and it’s about love and romance.”
