According to sources, the “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” head writing team changes occurred with Prospect Park deciding to release Marlene McPherson and Elizabeth Snyder (“AMC”) and Thom Racina (“OLTL”) from their contracts. This is in direct contrast to Susie Bedsow Horgan, who opted to exit her position as co-head writer of “OLTL” (with Racina) in early April, where we’re told she cited personal reasons behind her decision.
“All My Children” and “One Life To Live” are back which means more jobs for soap writers!

As previously reported, “All My Children” has named Marlene McPherson and Elizabeth Snyder as co-head writers. What’s so significant about their hiring is that this marks the first time since 2003 that a daytime soap opera has had two females leading its writing team. The last time was with Ellen Weston and Carolyn Culliton co-head writing CBS’ “Guiding Light.” Prior to that was in 2002, when Millee Taggert and Culliton also co-head wrote for “GL.”

When we reported that Marlene McPherson (pictured right, with former “DAYS” co-head writer Darrell Ray Thomas) had been hired on as head writer of Prospect Park‘s version of “All My children” back on January 23, it was unclear at the time as to whether she would be joined by a co-head writer. Soap Opera Network has since learned that it’ll be a “Days of our Lives” reunion of sorts for “AMC” as McPherson will be joined by Elizabeth Snyder, who was an Associate Head Writer at “DAYS” from 2011-2012.
The Writers Guild of America have announced the nominations for the 2013 Writers Guild Awards. In the Daytime Drama category, “Days Of Our Lives,” “One Life To Live,” and “The Young and The Restless” were nominated. Winners will be determined on February 17, 2013.
(SoapOperaNetwork.com) – The new writing regime of Gary Tomlin and Chris Whitesell make their first changes to the “Days of our Lives” writing staff.
As expected, Tomlin’s long time friend, Fran Myers, returns as script editor. This will be Myers’ 4th stint as the “DAYS” script editor: 1999-2003, August-September 2004, and October 13, 2008 – August 25, 2011. Jeanne Marie Ford moves from script editor to script writer.
Breakdown writers Lisa Connor and Elizabeth Snyder have exited the show.
