“The Young and the Restless” fans have gotten to know quite a bit about Sean Carrigan’s Dr. Ben “Stitch” Rayburn since the actor joined the show nearly a year ago, but when Soap Opera Network recently caught up with the Virginia native, he revealed that there’s much more — and we mean much more — to Stitch than meets the eye. “The Young and the Restless” viewers were recenlty hit with a one-two punch regarding the role of Kelly Andrews: Current portrayer Cynthia Watros was officially announced as stepping out of the role in order to take part in MTV’s new series “Finding Carter,” while Emmy winner Cady McClain (Dixie, “All My Children;” Roseanna, “As the World Turns”) was announced to be stepping into the role of the grieving mother! Soap Opera Network took part in McClain’s very first “Y&R” press conference, and the actress dished on how she landed the exciting role, how she feels about replacing Watros, working with her former Pine Valley co-stars in Genoa City and her experience saying goodbye to “AMC” and Dixie once and for all. On Friday, March 28, "CBS Sunday Morning" correspondent Mo Rocca was on hand to film scenes alongside "The Young and the Restless" actresses Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman) and Amelia Heinle (Victor Newman) for an upcoming appearance on daytime TV's top rated drama series. News of Rocca's appearance came to light when the correspondent tweeted a picture of himself with the ladies while noting he'll be portraying the role of Milton the accountant in scenes scheduled to air on Wednesday, April 30, per a tweet by Scott.
If you’re one of the fans impatiently waiting for Cady McClain (ex-Dixie Cooney, “All My Children”) to make her debut as “The Young and the Restless’” Kelly Andrews on Wednesday, April 16, then you’ll be happy to know that the actress has shared some fun behind-the-scenes info on her new gig!
“The Young and the Restless” viewers weren’t exactly thrilled when popular actor Billy Miller announced that he would be exiting the role of Billy Abbott, but the rough waters were mostly calmed when former portrayer David Tom (brother of “The Bold and the Beautiful’s” Heather Tom [Katie Logan]) swooped in to take back the role. It’s been a fairly smooth transition for most viewers, but jumping into the middle of such an intense storyline — the death of Delia and having been outed for cheating on Victoria (Amelia Heinle) —was a bit of an adjustment for the actor!
Soap siblings Heather Tom (Katie Logan, “The Bold and the Beautiful”) and David Tom (Billy Abbott, “The Young and the Restless”) not only share a family, career paths and a last name, they’re also sharing the stage at CBS’ popular daytime program, “The Talk!”
Now that Billy Miller has played out his final scenes as “The Young and the Restless’” Billy Abbott (in a gripping finale in which both he and Michael Muhney’s Adam Newman careened off an icy road after a dramatic showdown regarding the hit and run death of Delia), former portrayer David Tom has stepped back into the role of Victoria’s (Amelia Heinle) hubby. Meanwhile, viewers were shocked to see Marco Dapper return as the very-much-alive Carmine Basco on Friday, January 31! So how did the returns of both actors rate?
In an exclusive interview with TV Guide's Michael Logan, "The Young and the Restless'" David Tom reveals that he had to audition for the role of Billy Abbott when the series was looking to recast the character when contract talks between current portrayer Billy Miller and Sony Pictures Television proved to be unsuccessful. This was despite the fact that Tom garnered two Daytime Emmy Award nominations in the category of Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series in 2000 and 2001 (he won in 2000) for his portrayal of the character.
Wanna see something guaranteed to make you giggle? Then you won’t want to miss the “The Young and the Restless’” Joshua Morrow (Nicholas Newman) in his new gig as a talk show host! The actor has teamed up with “Y&R” production staffer Greg Edwards to create a humorous show titled “Soaps and Other Stuff,” which features “Y&R” stars answering ridiculous questions, playing silly games and being subjected to a multitude of other antics all dreamed up and acted out by Morrow himself as “host.”
