(SoapOperaNetwork.com) -- Jason Cook ("Days of our Lives") joins the cast of ABC's "General Hospital" as Port Charles' new resident Doctor, who has a run-in with the town's fashionista. Cook, last seen on NBC's "Days of our Lives" where he played the role of Shawn Brady from October 1999 to September 2006, is returning to daytime after nearly a two year absence in the contract role of Dr. Matt Hunter, who finds his life turning upside down once he meets Maxie Jones. Maxie is played by Cook's former on screen partner on "DAYS," Kirsten Storms. Storms left that soap in July 2004 before joining "GH" in May 2005. When Dr. Hunter debuts on June 26, he and Maxie don't get off to a good start, but sparks are sure to fly as his interaction with Damien Spinelli (played by Bradford Anderson) soon after is sure to provide a telling story. What brings Matt to Port Charles? You just gotta tune in to find out! IN RELATED NEWS On July 4, "General Hospital" will air an encore presentation of their May 1 episode in which Claudia takes the stand in her father's insanity trial, Nikolas prepares to spend his last moments with his hallucination of Emily, and Spinelli rescue's Maxie and Lulu. "General Hospital" airs weekdays on ABC. Weeknights on SOAPnet. Check local listings.

This is so exciting to Jirsten Fans, although the twosome were a hot couple on Days of Our Lives now we can enjoy a more adult storyline with these two. Jason and Kirsten have an undeniable chemistry that is sure to make sparks fly. What a loss for Days of Our Lives. I see ratings gallore for July. I certainly can't wait to tune in July 26th.
