(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — “One Life to Live” has just released a casting call for the role of ‘Dr. Wright.’

As is common policy for the sudser concerning auditon scripts, character names and other easily identifiable information have been changed in an attempt to confuse viewers.  In addition, ‘Dr. Wright’ could potentially only be a codename for the another role being cast.

That being said, the script begins with Dr. Wright (no specific mention is made of gender, although the character appears to lean toward being female) being introduced to ‘Sam’ by ‘Greg.’  Sam quips that the doctor has a suitable last name, considering the job profession. Next Greg introduces ‘Eve,’ who is the neurologist that will be consulting on ‘Albert’s’ case.

Dr. Wright tells Sam that he has a good kid and should be very proud of him.  Greg states that Sam is the very reason why all these health care professionals are assisting him, and that Sam managed to talk Dr. Wright into taking a look at Albert’s prognosis.  After taking an important phone call, Greg soon returns to the others. Dr. Wright suggests that they pick their discussion up again tomorrow, and tells Greg about a place that has some really good music.  Everyone thanks the doctor for agreeing to come to Llanview. Dr. Wright then informs Greg that he/she has poured over all his articles and found them to be rather impressive. As the scene ends Dr. Wright tells Greg what an honor is to be working together, to which he responds that perhaps they can be more then co-workers.

From the tone of the script, it appears that that ‘Sam’ may be Bo, ‘Albert’ Matthew, and ‘Greg’ the new doctor (Greg Evans) that was recently cast with Terrell Tilford, who first airs on June 23rd.  And with Réal Andrews reportedly on hold for a role on the soap and Ada Maris recently joining the cast (could she be portraying ‘Eve’?), perhaps one or both actors may factor into this script.  Too many questions.  Too few answers.  Only time will tell as this particular scene will not appear onscreen for several months.

‘OLTL’ May Casting News

Monday, May 4, 2009 9:57 PM ET | Scotty Gore

SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Jessica Brennan’s state of mind is about to become even more fragile when the news concerning baby Chloe sees the light of day.  This and other casting news concerning “One Life to Live” for the month of May.

First gatekeeper Bess, the overprotective gatekeeper of Jess’ mind reappears first in flashback form on May 19th, when details are recalled about the night of Chloe’s birth.  A few days later Bess returns ‘in the flesh’ to take control of the situation.

As she struggles to maintain order, Bess soon faces another challenge on May 26th as Bree Williamson does triple duty when Tess, Jessica’s free spirit alter, demands to know how Bess plans to pull off her complicated plan.

In other news…

Jackie Hoffman returns to Llanview on May 11th as Eunice Burns, who was last seen in February as the irritable ticket taker at the Go Red Ball.  Eunice is likely to have some scenes involving the Llanview High School prom, which is set to begin on that day.  Hoffman is a stand-up comedian best known for her one woman stage shows.  She has also appeared in the  Broadway productions “Hairspray” and “Xanadu,” as well films such as “Kissing Jessica Stein,” “Garden State,” and “Legally Blond 2: Red, White, and Blonde.”

Rumor mill, for what it’s worth…

Sean Monynihan is said to be back at the “OLTL” studios recently, despite the fact that the KAD serial killer storyline will be resolved later this month.

Saoirse Scott may be out as Jamie Vega, given that her onscreen father Kamar de los Reyes has left the soap, and his character Antonio recently mentioned that Llanview was no longer safe for his daughter, and that she was coming with him.

And apparently Jerry verDorn is not a favorite of the higher-ups at ABC Daytime.  At least one site is reporting that, while the actor remains on contract with “OLTL,” his episode guarantee has been reduced and that ABC Daytime head Brian Frons is said to have commented that he does not want to see verDorn receiving too much airtime on the show.

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — One woman; three possible fathers…

THIS WEEK ON: THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS

Jill’s behavior gets her tossed into a closet during Kay and Murphy’s wedding, Monday May 4. Paul begins to ponder the familiarity of Mary Jane. On Tuesday, May 5, Victor give Nick an offer that could put him in further odds with Phyllis. That same day, Jill finds herself back at the Chancellor Mansion.

The Inside Story: One Father Too Many
Sharon, realizing something is amiss with her, finds herself with a pregnancy test in her hand ready to take it to see if she possibly could be pregnant. When the results come in, she is floored to discover that she is in fact pregnant. She soon becomes overwhelmed by everything that is coming at her at once and begins to wonder what is the best thing for her to do. Sharon soon heads to the Genoa City Athletics Club when she sees Jack coming downstairs from the suites area. Realizing that Jack spent the night with someone, Sharon becomes upset and unable to contain the news she’s just received, she blurts everything out to her mother. Doris under the impression that Sharon is talking about Jack or Nick being the possible father, doesn’t realize that she’s slept with Billy too. When Sharon admits that news to her, Doris doesn’t hide her disappointment in her daughter. Sharon later finds herself debating on who to approach about her pregnancy and she instantly heads to Restless Style to find Nick. Unfortunately when she arrives, Phyllis instantly blocks her attempts to talk to him, therefore Sharon leaves to find her next possible ‘father’ to talk things out. When she shows up at his office, Jack can tell that something is troubling her and he immediately tries to console her when she tells him about her pregnancy. Thinking that Jack would immediately question her, Sharon is stunned when he shows sheer happiness at the news. Jack soon offers to be fully involved in the baby’s life, even if the baby could be Nick’s. Sharon is skeptical and asks if he’s sure if he could raise a baby that might not be his. Jack reassures her he can. Shortly after Sharon departs Billy arrives and sees how distracted Jack has become and questions what’s going on. Jack, still in awe, announces to his brother that Sharon is pregnant. Not giving it away, Billy silently begins to panic and later departs. Soon after, he finds Sharon and tells her that if he’s the father, he’s going to step up and let it be known. Meanwhile, Nick, who is at the park with Summer, is surprised to see Sharon there. She’s about to tell him about her pregnancy when she’s interrupted by Summer’s fall off the swing. Nick, followed by Sharon, takes the little girl to the hospital when Phyllis shortly arrives. When Sharon sees the closeness between Nick and Phyllis over Summer, she realizes that she can’t tell Nick and decides to go back to Jack and accept his offer of being there for her and the baby; no questions asked.

A Closer Look: Strange Behavior

Ashley, still acting strangely, approaches Nikki at Katherine and Murphy’s wedding to tell her that she knows that she wasn’t the one that put Sabrina’s dress out for her to put on. Nikki, wondering what’s going on with Ashley, later tells Jack that he should keep an eye on his sister because her state of mind isn’t well, especially if it could be due to her living in Sabrina’s shadow. Meanwhile Jack confronts Victor about his sister and the two of themngs get into it, while Ashley has a confrontation with Estella, accusing her of putting things to remind her of Sabrina. Unfortunately for Ashley tthings aren’t going well for her when she has to be rushed to the hospital.

Discussion: ‘Y&R Wedding of Lifetime Reaches Semi-finals

Sunday, May 3, 2009 1:21 AM ET | Scotty Gore

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — With a recent spike in the teen birth rate across the United States, The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy is sponsoring a forum in the nation’s capitol to discuss ways to reverse the trend.  Among those featured to speak at the forum are Seventeen Magazine Editor-in-Chief Ann Shoket, talk show host Maury Povich, and “One Life to Live’s” Kristen Alderson (Starr Manning).

Llanview teen Starr Manning is no different than a lot of other teenage girls across the United States. Pregnant at the age of 16, and in no way prepared to become a mother.  Last year, after having unprotected sex with her boyfriend Cole Thornhart, Starr learned she was pregnant.  After considering abortion, she ultimately chose to keep the baby, allowing an older friend (Marcie McBain) to adopt it once born. Sadly however, the baby supposedly died at birth.  In the last two years, an increasing number of young ladies in this country are finding that their situations errily mirror that of the fictional soap character.  After 14 years on the decline, the nation’s teen birth rate soared 5% between 2005 and 2007.

In an effort to alert teens of the issues surrounding teen pregnancy, Alderson will team up with Maury Povich and a host of state and local leaders from around the country, experts in digital media, and representatives from the entertainment industry to host a forum in the First Amendment Lounge of the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. (529 14th Street NW) on Tuesday, May 5th from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm et.

Major items on the agenda include theories as to why the teen birth rate is rising and how the trend may be reversed, innovative and creative ways to talk to teen about pregnancy on the state and local level, how best digital media can be used to educate teens, and what popluar media can and should do to help combat teen pregnancy.

The forum takes place on the eve of the 8th annual commeration of the National Day to Prevent Teen Pregnancy. The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy credits the media with highlighting the issue of teen pregnancy, such as “ABC daytime’s ‘One Life to Live’ and ABC Family’s ‘Secret Life of the American Teenager,’ which have both developed compelling story lines about teen pregnancy as well as extensive, thought-provoking online content.”  In addition, Povich plans to focus on prevtending teen pregnancy on his website, as well as upcoming episodes of his nationally syndicated talk show.

“Given the recent increase in the teen birth rate, a renewed focus on preventing teen pregnancy is urgently needed,” said Sarah Brown, CEO of The National Campaign. “We hope our forum will help policymakers, practitioners, and parents realize that complacency is not an option just as we hope the National Day Quiz will help teens think carefully about sex and contraception, the possibility of pregnancy, and the lifelong challenges of being a parent.”
