( — Kathy Brier announces on her website that she is “in talks to return to ‘One Life to Live’ for a few episodes” as Marcie McBain, only two months after her character packed up and moved with husband Michael from Llanview to Seattle.

Viewers last saw Marcie on June 17th as she was helping Michael box up their personal belongings in their less-than-luxurious Angel Square apartment in preparation of the couple’s move to Seattle, where Michael had been offered a job at a prestigious hospital. Just before leaving town Marcie also got her storybook ending by learning that, after two aborted adoption attempts, she was finally pregnant with a baby of her own.

Portraying Marcie McBain (née Walsh) since 2002 Brier, along with her onscreen hubby Michael (Chris Stack) were informed by “One Life to Live” earlier this year that the soap had no plans to keep them in Llanview once their contracts reached their expiration dates in June, citing lack of storyline possibilities as the reason for the popular couple’s termination.

While Stack briefly reprised the role of Dr. Michael McBain for three episodes last month to help wrap up the Shane Morasco stem cells storyline, Brier and Marcie were nowhere to be seen.

While the exact nature of Brier’s upcoming “OLTL” return have yet to be announced, her latest stint is expected to be short-term. It also remains to be seen exactly which characters Marcie will share scenes with, and if her husband Michael will be returning as well. No first airdate has been revealed, however given the fact that both parties are still hammering out the details and that “OLTL” routinely tapes approximately 4-6 weeks in advance, it would likely be sometime this fall before fans can expect to see Marcie back in Llanview.

SON will keep you informed as this story continues to develop.

In other news…

Soap Opera Weekly is reporting that Eloise Mumford has been cast as Loretta Hogan, a witness called to the stand by Téa to testify in Matthew’s defense on Thursday, September 3rd. The character’s name is a play on that of “OLTL’s” publicist, Lauri Hogan.

An ABC spokesperson tells Carolyn Hinsey of the New York Daily News that “The rumor that ‘One Life to Live’ and ‘All My Children’ will become two half-hour shows is incorrect.” Hmmm…wonder if that is the same spokesperson that told SON about a month ago that “All My Children” was NOT shifting production from New York City to Los Angeles.

Hinsey also reports that, with regards to Thorsten Kaye (Zach “AMC,” ex-Patrick “OLTL”), a network rep. comments that “Our primary focus right now is ‘AMC.’ We hope Thorsten comes to L.A. to continue as Zach. We can’t think of other options until we know Thorsten’s decision.” Meanwhile, rumors continue to swirl that Kaye may opt out of following “AMC” to the West Coast and instead remain in New York City and return to “OLTL,” where his wife Susan Haskell portrays Marty Saybrooke.

From the Twitter files…

Kristen Alderson (Starr Manning) reveals that her younger brother Eddie Alderson (Matthew Buchanan) broke his wrist two weeks ago. Poor Matthew….paralyzed from the waist down and suffering from a broken wrist…can’t the kid ever catch a break?

Alderson also provides some behind-the-scenes insight by answering a fan question about who exactly writes the notes that Starr leaves for Cole. “They [the show] wrote the note that was on the last show [Wednesday].. I usually write the notes…but they did this one for some reason. lol”

And, when asked by a fan if he would consider reprising the role of Antonio Vega, Kamar de los Reyes tweets that “I never like to say never but in this case it’s highly unlikely that I will ever go back to ‘OLTL.'” The actor left the sudser earlier this year when he contract was up, stating that he believed “Antonio is longer the central figure I believe he deserves to be,” and that “over the years, he has become less and less valued.” Yeah…right. No offense to the guy, but when one thinks of the great “OLTL” characters from the past 41 years (Carla Gray, Ed Hall, Victor Lord, Karen Wolek, Asa Buchanan, Victoria Lord, Todd Manning, Dorian Cramer Lord, etc…), Antonio Vega just does not come to mind.
