(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Just when you thought it was safe for Jason (Steve Burton) and Sam fans, Soap Opera Digest is reporting that ABC’s “General Hospital” has put out a casting call for Sam McCall, a role currently portrayed by popular actress Kelly Monaco. An ABC spokesman issued a “no comment” to both Soap Opera Digest and Soap Opera Network when pressed for answers. This can only mean bad news for Monaco fans.

The casting call is as follows: Early 30s, female, Caucasian, brunette, sexy, dynamic and fiery…SERIES REGULAR. This is a character who has been established on the show.

Prior to joining the cast of “General Hospital” in October 2003, Monaco had a contract role on ABC’s “Port Charles” from 1999-2003.

      Alexa Havins
      Photo: Yolanda Perez/ABC

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Yeah, Babe Chandler may have died after last years devastating tornado hit Pine Valley, but that was Amanda Baker’s Babe. Alexa Havins’ Babe went to California after the actress opted not to renew her contract in 2007 shortly after real-life husband Justin Bruening (ex-Jamie Martin) left the soap with hopes of making it big in Hollywood. He starred in the NBC series “Knight Rider,” which lasted for one season during the 2007-2008 TV season. The series was canceled due to low ratings.

With “All My Children” heading to the West Coast in January, it has been speculated that Havins and a number of former “AMC” stars, who are now L.A. based, are being courted to come back to the drama series when filming begins in Los Angeles. Soap Opera Network has learned, however, that Havins will not be returning to the show as Babe nor as a look-alike or even a recast of Marissa Tasker (played by Brittany Allen), who is Babe’s fraternal twin sister. According to sources, Havins has made it known that she has no desire to work on a soap ever again. “She is happy where she is and what she is doing. She has no intention of returning to ‘All My Children.’”

        Thorsten Kaye
        Photo: ABC

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — ABC Daytime has given the cast and crew of the network’s daytime drama series “All My Children” one week to decide whether they will uproot their lives and families to Los Angeles, CA when the show moves production in January, says Thorsten Kaye (Zach Slater) in an exclusive interview with New York Daily News reporter Carolyn Hinsey.

“I’m not sure what I’m going to do. I’m not the kind of dad who wants to be 3,000 miles away from my kids. And it’s not exactly the best time to sell real estate,” he says. Kaye is married to “One Life to Live’s” Susan Haskell (Marty Saybrooke). They have two daughters, McKenna and Marlowe.

“I think the move shows that ABC has a lot of belief in ‘AMC’ and wants to keep it going,” Kaye says.

Susan Lucci (SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Susan Lucci’s future with “All My Children” is up in the air.

On today’s “Regis & Kelly,” Susan Lucci shocked former “All My Children” co-star Kelly Ripa by announcing that she’s not sure if she’ll make the decision to move to Los Angeles with the production of the soap she helped make. Lucci, who has been with “AMC” since it’s first air-date in January 1970, told Ripa, “I don’t know what I’m going to do” in reference to leaving New York to remain with the show. Still in a state of shock from the news that dropped this past Tuesday, Lucci emphasized that while she appreciates being given a choice unlike some other co-workers and crew that uprooting 3,000 miles is a big decision to make for her and for the entire cast. It’s also a decision they have just one week to make according to co-star Thorsten Kaye who plays Erica Kane’s son-in-law, Zach Slater. The actress who has New York in her heart and blood reports that she’ll likely make her final decision during a vacation she’ll leave for this weekend.

The interview was originally scheduled to discuss Lucci and her character Erica Kane’s enlightening trip to Kenya, Africa; ‘AMC’s’ just announced move to L.A. of course pushed that discussion back a segment.

Like Lucci, co-star Thorsten Kaye points out that while the decision shows ABC has a lot of belief in ‘AMC’ he doesn’t know if he’ll make the move. In today’s New York Daily New, Kaye reports, “I’m not sure what I’m going to do. I’m not the kind of dad who wants to be 3,000 miles away from my kids.” Kaye’s wife, Susan Haskell, currently works on “One Life to Live” which will continue to be produced in New York.
