( — Georgie Jones may be dead, but that won’t stop ABC’s “General Hospital” from bringing the character back for a little nostalgia with an appearance by Lindze Letherman, who last played the role in December 2007.

According to show sources, Letherman will return as ghost Georgie, who will try and help big-sis Maxie (Kirsten Storms) during a “special moment” for a number of episodes starting Friday,  March 26. With Maxie and Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) soon to make a full commitment to each other, it’s anyone’s guess as to what this “moment” could possibly be about.

Since departing “General Hospital,” Letherman has appeared in the film “Stamped!” and the online series “Life in General” created by “GH” writer Karen Harris.

( — On today’s episode of “General Hospital” look for the returns of Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) and Anthony Zacchara (Bruce Weitz), the two most powerful and evil members of their respective family empires.

First up, Johnny (Brandon Barash) pays his father a visit with the intention of taking back the reins of the Zacchara family. What makes that confusing, at least to me, is that once Claudia (Sarah Joy Brown) married Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), Sonny was placed in charge of the Zacchara family business. Without that, what does Johnny think he’ll get out of daddy?

Meanwhile, Helena returns to Port Charles to see her grandson Nikolas (Tyler Christopher), who just might be the father of Elizabeth’s (Rebecca Herbst) baby care of their affair. As previously reported, Elizabeth will learn the identity of “Who’s the Daddy?” during the week of February 22.

Helena is expected to remain on the show for a number of episodes, while Anthony is not.

( — ABC offers fans a special treat next week with a special online version of the February 15th episode of “One Life to Live.”

With a blizzard blowing through Llantano Mountain and several characters on thin ice (both literally and figuratively), Monday’s episode of the popular ABC sudser will offer up much drama for several Llanview residents, including Rex, Stacy, and Gigi.

In conjunction with the special episode, will provide interested viewers with two options on the website’s Full Episode Player. Starting on the morning of Tuesday, February 16th, you can watch the episode as it aired the day before on ABC. However, you can also view the same episode, but with special added commentary throughout the show from John-Paul Lavoisier (Rex) and Farah Fath (Gigi), who will share their thoughts and insights into the writing and filming of that particular episode. Lavoisier and Fath will also provide a sneak peek into some of the special effects used to turn Llantano Mountain into a dangerous winter wonderland.

For those who cannot wait until next week, here is a little preview into Monday’s episode…

With Stacy’s baby in her arms, Gigi falls through the ice. As she manages to keep the baby out of the freezing water, Rex and Schuyler work to save the aunt and niece. After being pulled to safety, Schuyler breathes life back into the woman he loves, as Rex looks on. At the cabin, Kim locates Stacy, who promptly vanishes. Dorian is worried when Mitch offers up a new threat against her family. Kelly and Adriana accept champagne from a stranger named Emile in Paris, and later Adriana leaves with the guy. Kelly gets a call from Cassie informing her that Dorian’s claims could actually be true. Charlie confesses to Viki that he was the one who shot Jessica, but explains that he was aiming for Mitch. Meanwhile, Mitch delights in telling Viki that Charlie and Dorian were in cahoots together. Viki later has a run-in with Dorian. And Marty isn’t able to keep her emotions in check after seeing John and Natalie kissing one another.

This is not the first time ABC has offered special episode commentary with regards to their daytime dramas. On January 29th, “General Hospital” stars Lisa LoCicero (Olivia) and Dominic Zamprogna (Dante) talked viewers through the episode where Sonny shot Dante after learning he was an undercover cop, and then discovering that he was his son.

      In other news…

Nicholas E. Calhoun will appear as an FBI Agent on Feb. 11th, 12th, 16th, and 17th.

Danny Aiello III is listed as the Stunt Coordinator for the February 12th, 16th, 17th, and 18th episodes.

Bree Williamson (Jessica) tweets that “Queen Bea performance is tomorrow night [February 10th]! If you wanta come call the Laurie Beechman and make your reservation.”

And “OLTL” Music Director Paul Glass tweets that “Back to work…mixing today in new studio!  Everything seems to be going well and the vibe is good! Things will really start picking up next week. “

( — Bradley Cole, best known for his role as Jeffrey O’Neill on the CBS daytime drama series “Guiding Light” is joining the cast of ABC’s “General Hospital” in the role of Carlton Bauer, Kiefer’s (Christian Alexander) father. UPDATE: The soap has renamed Cole’s character to Warren Bauer according to ABC sources.

According to ABC, the actor will make his debut sometime in March. His character is expected to go toe to toe with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) whose daughter Kristina (Lexi Ainsworth) is dating his son. Kristina and Kiefer are currently involved in a teen abuse storyline in which Kiefer has been abusing Kristina on numerous occasions.

Cole’s appearance on “General Hospital” marks a reunion of sorts for Laura Wright (Carly Corinthos Jacks), who portrayed the other half of “Guiding Light” super-couple Cassie Winslow and Richard Winslow (also played by Cole). The duo dominated soap magazines and polls during the height of the couple-dom from 2000-2002. The character of Richard was killed off following serious injuries sustained from a car accident and the hands of Cassie’s sister Reva Shayne (Kim Zimmer), who pulled the plug on his life support after he had asked her to.

It would appear that Cole’s appearance on “General Hospital” is scheduled for a couple of episodes, but it is possible it may lead to something more down the road.

The Los Angeles, California native appeared in a couple of episodes of “All My Children” in 2003 as Jordan Roberts.

( — As first reported on Soap Opera Network‘s Twitter page on Monday afternoon, ABC’s “General Hospital” will debut its all-new opening sequence on Tuesday, February 23, the same day the soap celebrates its 12,000th episode.

Initially, ABC insiders were unclear as to when the new opening would debut and could only tell us that it would be “soon,” however, we have since learned that with the upcoming celebration, production on the opening was fast-tracked in order to meet the special deadline.

Look for the show to finally remove old (and mostly dead) characters from the opening sequence including the appearances of Justus Ward (M’fundo Morrison), Alan Quartermaine (Stuart Damon), Ned Ashton (Wallace Kurth), Dillon Quartermaine (Scott Clifton), Lorenzo Alcazar (Ted King) and actor Greg Vaughan, who portrayed the role of Lucky Spencer until his dismissal upon the return of originator Jonathan Jackson in October 2009, in the universally panned all-male final shot.

It is unclear at this time if the soap will debut a new theme song when the opening debuts or if it will keep its current theme, which is a variation of the classic 1990′s “Faces of the Heart” theme by musician Dave Koz.
