UPDATE, MONDAY, AUGUST 27, 2012 5:20 PM ET: Rumor no more, Ian Buchan has returned to ABC’s “General Hospital.”
PREVIOUS, THURSDAY, AUGUST 23, 2012 7:20 PM ET: Rumor has it that Ian Buchanan, who just completed his run on NBC’s “Days of our Lives” yesterday as Ian McAllister, is heading back to ABC’s “General Hospital” after a 23-year absence. Buchanan was last seen in 1989 as Duke Lavery on the soap, but the character was killed off in 1990 while portrayed by actor Greg Beecroft.
When asked by a fan on twitter if he was returning, Buchanan said, “My tweets are sealed.”
A “General Hospital” spokesperson was unavailable for comment at press time.
Just a short time ago, the official CBS Daytime twitter account posted a picture of cast members from the networks “The Young and the Restless” as they gathered in celebration of the shows 10,000th episode, which is currently in production.
Eileen Davidson is returning to NBC’s “Days of our Lives” after Sony Pictures Television opted to transition her off of their soap “The Young and the Restless” and onto “DAYS” to re-create the magic of her character Kristen DiMera. Sony Pictures Television distributes “DAYS,” which is owned by Corday Productions, Inc.
According to a tweet by the actress posted yesterday, Davidson’s first airdate as Kristen is set for Thursday, October 11. “I start airing on Oct. 11. AND I CAN’T WAIT!!!!!” the actress said.
Davidson, who originated the role of Ashley Abbott on “Y&R” in 1982 and left in 1988, joined “DAYS” in 1993 and portrayed five characters (sometimes simultaneously) over the course of her five year Emmy nominated run. In addition to Kristen DiMera, Davidson portrayed famously Susan Banks, Sister Mary Moira Banks, Thomas Banks, and Penelope Kent. She returned to “Y&R” in 1999 only to find herself let go from the show in 2007 with her character moving to Los Angeles, which is where we found her for a brief time on CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful.” Davidson returned to “Y&R” in 2008 until her departure this year.
Alicia Minshew (ex-Kendall Hart Slater, “All My Children”) is currently off filming her new movie, “Desires of the Heart” in Savannah, GA and now Soap Opera Network is happy to report the film has unveiled its Facebook page for fans to take a look at the journey to making the film.
In “Heart,” Minshew portrays Madeline, a young artist who catches the attention of a psychiatrist (Val Lauren) visiting from India. While their romance blossoms, her new love is forced to return to India in order to marry the woman chosen as his bride by his parents.
“Happy Back to Work Day!!!! YAY!!” said Kirsten Storms (Maxie Jones) in a tweet earlier today as she prepared for her first day back on the set of ABC’s “General Hospital.” The actress also tweeted a photo of her script that was tucked away in her purse, saying “Bag packed. Off to work.
Storms re-tweeted a tweet by co-star Jason Thompson (Patrick Drake), who said, “I’m excited about getting back to work today. A healthy chunk is because
@teenystweeting is back!! (but shh, we know how her head can swell).” Read More >>
Just days after announcing that she had signed a new two-year contract with CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful,” Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke Forrester) finds herself in an unusual position for the first time in over 25 years.
Lang, like co-stars Ronn Moss (Ridge Forrester) and Susan Flannery (Stephanie Forrester), has been on the daytime drama series since its debut in 1987. With word that both Moss and Flannery have opted to leave the series, Lang finds herself as part of what’s left of the “core four,” along with John McCook (Eric Forrester), whose fate on the series has yet to be determined.
A rep for “B&B” has not responded to a request for comment on Flannery’s reported exit to Soap Opera Network.
As we have been reporting for the past week, “Days of our Lives” actress Melissa Reeves (Jennifer Horton) has been embroiled in a controversy over a recent tweet she made to her followers about free speech. “Chick-fil-a today!!!! Loved every bite of it;)!! Land of the free and home of the brave. Love that we all appreciate free speech, right?” said Reeves on Tuesday, August 1. Since that day several people, including fans of Reeves, and of her show, have bombarded the actress with responses that either agree with her comment, call for her to apologize and/or clarify her statement, or used unmentionable language against her. Some of her daytime brethren have also spoken out on the issue, but not as harshly. On Thursday, August 16, Reeves finally responded by deleting her Twitter account…but not before making a bold statement.
On Tuesday, August 14, Jon Hensley (ex-Holden Snyder, “As The World Turns”) tweeted, “Hi All, B&B has invited me back for a few more episodes, i shoot them next week! No details yet!”
Fans can expect to see his character, Dr. Meade, on screen again sometime in September.
UPDATE, 7:31 PM ET: Schmidt’s rep tells Soap Opera Network that the actor completed filming a few weeks ago, but was unable to confirm whether his final scenes have already aired. Soap Opera Network has reached out to a “Y&R” representative, but we’ve been informed that the individual is on vacation until next Monday.
PREVIOUS, 5:41 PM ET: Kevin Schmidt announced via Twitter early this evening that he’s been let go as Noah Newman on CBS’ “The Young and the Restless.”
“Hey @Official_YandR! How many times you gonna try and bring in a “New Noah”? There’s only one! Sorry to those who watch for me. #Peace @CBS,” read Schmidt’s tweet.
A representative for the actor confirmed his exit to Soap Opera Network.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock lately, you’re likely already aware that Greg Vaughan (ex-Lucky Spencer, “General Hospital”) is joining “Days of our Lives” as a recast Eric Brady. What you didn’t know was his first airdate, or his characters new holy profession. Say what?
On Friday, August 10, via Entertainment Weekly, a representative of “DAYS” confirmed that Vaughan had been hired to portray the twin brother of Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney), who was last seen in Salem in July 2000 and was the first love interest of Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker), which was the basis of Sami’s long standing feud with Nicole. The role was previously portrayed by “Supernatural” star Jensen Ackles.
