It is with great sadness to report that Jeanne Cooper (Katherine Chancellor, “The Young and the Restless“) has died. The 84-year old actress, who has been in and out of the hospital in recent weeks, died this morning in her hospital bed with her daughter by her side.

“Mom passed this morning. She was in peace and without fear. U all have been incredible in your love. In her name share it 2 day with others,” said Cooper’s son, Corbin Bernsen, in a message posted on his Twitter page just a short time ago. He later added a longer message to his followers on Facebook (see below).

“Days of our Lives’” Arianne Zucker may have received a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in this year’s Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards race, but she’s not taking all of the credit. “I’m so proud of all of us,” she says of her nomination as well as the show’s 17 other Emmy nods. “We’re an ensemble cast and crew. There’s no “I” in this team. I had Shawn Christian [Daniel Jonas] and Missy [Reeves, Jennifer Horton], almost everybody in my scenes, so I didn’t do it alone. So that’s what’s pretty cool. Everybody helped lift me up.”

Before “One Life to Live” returned on Monday, April 29 via Hulu, Hulu Plus and iTunes, we last saw Cutter Wentworth on a phone call while in prison on the ABC incarnation back in January 2012. So how did he get out and get some Shelter at Blair Cramer’s (Kassie DePaiva) new nightclub? “You mean in a TV show people can’t come back from things worse than jail?” jokingly said Cutter’s portrayer, Josh Kelly, during a recent interview with Soap Opera Network. “A lot of people get out of prison, and on a TV show it can happen even easier. People come back from the dead!” the actor noted.

The OnLine Network has confirmed the casting of Brooke Newton as Colby Chandler on “All My Children.” SON Insider watchers will have noted in our ON THE RED CARPET feature covering the premiere of “AMC” at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts two weeks ago that Newton had been cast in the contract role of Adam Chandler (David Canary) and Liza Colby’s (last played by Jamie Luner) “spoiled entitled daughter,” per a description released by TOLN. Newton takes over the role previously played by Natalie Hall on the ABC incarnation and first airs on Thursday, May 16.

“RIP Jeanne Cooper (1911-2013) Dead,” read an inappropriate tweet by tweeter @BravoMaxine, which was tweeted to twitter accounts @ebraeden @melodythomassco @victoriarowell. The tweet received a response from Victoria Rowell (ex-Drucilla Winters, “The Young and the Restless“) who said, “A special lady & great Native American actress.” Thankfully, we can report that Jeanne Cooper (Katherine Chancellor, “The Young and the Restless”), who was actually born in 1928, is very much alive as stated by Eric Braeden (Victor Newman, “Y&R”), “Contrary to some statement, Jeanne Cooper is doing better and sitting with her daughter Caren by her bedside!!”

When “One Life to Live” went off the air just over a year ago it was my favorite daily drama and it had been for quite some time. So, while the show’s ratings were rising, it was quite a shock to learn it had been canceled in 2011. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous with the series coming back, but this time without executive producer Frank Valentini and head writer Ron Carlivati.
