( -- Don't worry soap fans, ABC isn't creating another "The" least none that we've heard of. However, there was a major clue right under our noses that the network was going to be canceling your favorite daytime soaps "All My Children" and "One Life to Live" just one day before the announcement was made. Beginning at 7:00 AM (unclear if it was eastern or pacific time) on Wednesday, April 13, the network posted the first images of "The Chew" crew on their website,, along with a description of the series and a biography of the hosts.According to the posting, "The Chew," is described as "an innovative and groundbreaking daytime program co-hosted by a dynamic group of engaging, fun, relatable experts in food, style, and entertaining." The one-hour daily Talk show co-hosted by Mario Batali, Clinton Kelly, Carla Hall, Michael Symon and Daphne Oz, debuts on Monday,...
( -- After beginning her press tour in promotion of her new memoir "All My Life," Susan Lucci vehemently denied rumors of "All My Children's" demise as anything but and that said rumors were not coming from ABC. While ABC didn't publicly create the rumor, they sure didn't deny it either...except to Lucci and the cast members and crews at "AMC" and "One Life to Live" after the idea of the two being canceled escalated beyond the networks control in the press. So why did the network leave Lucci to look like a fool on national television for weeks, including on their own networks "Good Morning America," while secretly finalizing plans to launch "The Chew" and "The Revolution?" We may never know the answer to that question, but we can take a look back at the timeline of events leading up to the demise of a genre on the...
( — "One Life to Live" fans have yet to learn if Roger Howarth is indeed playing his old alter ego Todd Manning, or if he is playing someone else entirely. However, one thing is for certain. On the same day that Howarth made his much anticipated return to Llanview after a decade's long absence, his character has already been credited with a less-than-subtle name. Upon close inspection of Friday's on-air closing credits of "One Life to Live," Howarth's on-screen persona was referred to only as "Man with Scar." And if you think that has all the subtly as Jessica's (Bree Williamson) new horny, macho, skullcap wearing alter Wes, or viewers figuring out Shane (Austin Williams) was being bullied by Jack Manning (Andrew Trischitta) several weeks before it was revealed onscreen, thanks to his use of the screen name "Who Da Mann" on Shane's MyFace page, then you'd be right. But...
As we all know, four weeks ago Brian Frons, President, Daytime, Disney/ABC Television Group, visited the set of ABC's "All My Children" to announce the cancellation of the 41-year-old soap live and in person to cast members while also canceling "AMC's" sister soap "One Life to Live," whose cast members learned via video feed of the 42-year-old daytime dramas fate. According to Frons, with "The Chew" and "The Revolution" the network will be saving between 30-40% a week on programming costs. It's easy to see why as Soap Opera Network has your exclusive first look at the new programming that falls under the networks "It's a Brand New Day" promotional campaign. Materials for the campaign will be sent out to advertisers and press outlets beginning next week as the network presents its 2011-2012 daytime and primetime schedule to Madison Avenue's elite buyers at the Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center in New York City on Tuesday, May 17. Soap fans are scheduled to protest outside the event from 2:00 - 6:00 PM.

( -- In its latest issue on newsstands now, Soap Opera Digest is reporting that there are rumors that "All My Children's" Chrishell Stause (Amanda Martin) will be leaving the recently canceled soap opera prior to its January 2012 finale, even though the soap last airs on Friday, September 23, 2011 and yes, they wrote that in their magazine, not I. Either which way, Soap Opera Network spoke with Stause herself right after the Twitter controversy that sparked Digest's report. The story, first reported by Soap Opera Network on Monday, April 25, goes that Stause had tweeted Ryan Basford, a talent production assistant at E!'s "Chelsea Lately" and friend of the actress, with the comment "I wish I could say-but there are serious talks going on I found out for sure. I'm leaving anyway-but I want the show to go on!" when asked if recently canceled "AMC" would be picked...
