(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Actresses Mackenzie Mauzy and Jaime Ray Newman land guest starring roles on Lifetime's "Drop Dead Diva" starring Brooke Elliott.

Mauzy and Newman are both scheduled to appear in the July 18 episode of "Diva," while Newman is expected to continue to appear in multiple episodes as season two of the series progresses. According to sources, Newman's character will be entangled in the life of Grayson Kent (Jackson Hurst), who was the love of Deb Dobkins' (Brooke D'Orsay) life, until her life was turned upside down when she suddenly died in a car accident only to return in the form of plus-sized lawyer Jane Bingum (Elliott).

Ironically enough, on a show about life after death, both actresses found their characters on each of their respective soaps killed off in some manner involving a car. For Mauzy, her character Phoebe Forrester on CBS' "The Bold and the Beautiful" died in a car accident on the day of her father's wedding to her ex-boyfriend's mother; while Newman's character, Kristina Cassadine on ABC's "General Hospital," died in a car bomb intended for the town's mafioso.

"Drop Dead Diva" airs Sundays on Lifetime. Check local listings.

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — “As the World Turns” star Evan Alex Cole reveals that he has auditioned for a role on “One Life to Live.”

Cole, who has portrayed Lyon Hunter on “ATWT” since April 30, 2009, announced last Friday on his Facebook page that he was “going in for a contract role on ‘ONE LIFE TO LIVE’ today. What we think?”  The actor will soon have more free time on his hands when “World Turns” wraps production in the coming weeks, and is scheduled to air its final episode in September.

While the 25-year-old Atlanta native hasn’t revealed the role he tested for, one possibly is for the new character of “TJ,” who is described as “a man with a real James Dean quality about him, and is sexy, handsome and edgy.  He is silent, mysterious and brooding. He’s the kind of boy that all the girls want to ‘save’ and their parents want to keep away.”  According to the casting call, “OLTL” is looking for a white male between the ages of 18 & 24 for the role. You can read a summary of the audition script here

SON will continue to follow this story and bring you further details as they develop.

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Contract negotiations could take Cristian Vega out of Llanview.

Soap Opera Digest reports that they are hearing from a source close to the soap that Fumero, who has portrayed the son of diner owner Carlotta Vega on and off for more than a decade, is leaving “One Life to Live” at the end of his current contract. However, Digest is also stating that a spokesperson for the show is telling that talks are still ongoing between Fumero and “One Life.” That sentiment was echoed by ABC Soaps in Depth, who tweeted that “As of now, David Fumero is in negotiations. So we’ll have to see how it all plays out… that’s what our sources are telling us.”

Fumero took over the role of the younger Vega brother from Yorlin Madera in June of 1998. He left the show in October 2003, only to return briefly from late 2004-early 2005. In September of that year he returned to the show full-time. Fumero is married to his his former co-star Mellisa Gallo (ex-Adriana Cramer).
