UPDATE, 7:31 PM ET: Schmidt’s rep tells Soap Opera Network that the actor completed filming a few weeks ago, but was unable to confirm whether his final scenes have already aired. Soap Opera Network has reached out to a “Y&R” representative, but we’ve been informed that the individual is on vacation until next Monday.
PREVIOUS, 5:41 PM ET: Kevin Schmidt announced via Twitter early this evening that he’s been let go as Noah Newman on CBS’ “The Young and the Restless.”
“Hey @Official_YandR! How many times you gonna try and bring in a “New Noah”? There’s only one! Sorry to those who watch for me. #Peace @CBS,” read Schmidt’s tweet.
A representative for the actor confirmed his exit to Soap Opera Network.
Deadline is reporting Olympic gold medalist Ryan Lochte is scheduled to make his series television debut when he makes a cameo appearance on the CW’s “90210.”
Last week Lochte made it known that he’d like to take a stab at television by either competing in an upcoming season of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” or possibly finding love on the networks “The Bachelor.”
Lochte’s “90210″ episode is scheduled to air on Monday, October 29.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock lately, you’re likely already aware that Greg Vaughan (ex-Lucky Spencer, “General Hospital”) is joining “Days of our Lives” as a recast Eric Brady. What you didn’t know was his first airdate, or his characters new holy profession. Say what?
On Friday, August 10, via Entertainment Weekly, a representative of “DAYS” confirmed that Vaughan had been hired to portray the twin brother of Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney), who was last seen in Salem in July 2000 and was the first love interest of Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker), which was the basis of Sami’s long standing feud with Nicole. The role was previously portrayed by “Supernatural” star Jensen Ackles.
In an exclusive interview with TV Guide‘s Michael Logan, Bradley Bell, Executive Producer and Head Writer of “The Bold and the Beautiful,” has revealed that he plans on recasting the role of Ridge Forrester now that Ronn Moss is departing the series after filming his final scenes later today.
Bell, who only found out that Moss opted not to renew his contract on Thursday, August 9, tells Logan that losing Moss is a “huge” deal. Ultimately he’s “very sad but also very grateful for the 25 years we did have with him. Ronn is a wonderful man and a great actor and he’ll be sorely missed.”
For those wondering how Bell plans to write the character off the canvas, albeit temporarily, Bell says, “I went ahead and wrote a wedding for Ridge and Brooke [Katherine Kelly Lang] — a real retrospective sort of wedding that honors the characters’ 25-year relationship — and then I have them take off on a honeymoon. I’ve been in this business long enough to know I have to protect my show. The worst thing happened but at least I was prepared.” Images of what looked to be a supposed wedding popped up on Facebook on Saturday, August 11, just moments before news broke of Moss’s departure from “B&B.”
“Ridge will not be dead or presumed dead. He will just not be in the picture. I don’t want to do a presumed death because I don’t want the story that follows to be all about Ridge. This will be a Brooke story,” says Bell. “Ridge is a pivotal part of the show and he will be back in a matter of time…and probably not all that much time. I will continue writing for the character. I’m looking at this in two phases, really. There will be a period of time without Ridge, which is where some new, interesting avenues for Brooke will come into play. But at some point it will be necessary for Ridge to return to the show. Who will be playing the role at that point remains to be seen.”
According to Bell, Moss’ last airdate is scheduled for Friday, September 14.

While Soap Opera Digest in its newest issue lists their last airdate being Wednesday, August 15, both Matthew Ashford (Jack Deveraux) and Sarah Brown (Madison James) will actually find their characters departing the world of the living much sooner.
On the Monday, August 13 episode, fans saw Madison speak for the last time as she called out for her fiancé, Brady Black (Eric Martsolf). On Tuesday, August 14, Jack departs Salem for the umpteenth time as the elevator cables snap while daughter Abigail (Kate Mansi) and the love of his life Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) look on in horror. Sadly, it looks like Jack is really dead this time! Also according to Digest, Caleb Hunt (Andrew) last airs on Friday, August 17 despite the character escaping unnoticed on the Monday, August 13 episode while Chad (Casey Deidrick) was tending to Gabi (Camila Bannus). Father Matt (Ralph Waite) is also back on the 17th as he shares words with Nicole (Arianne Zucker).
Soap Opera Network has learned Brendan Michael Coughlin will return on Monday, August 20, when his character Tad (aka: T) has a confrontation with Will (Chandler Massey) that eventually leads to a dangerous one with Sonny (Freddie Smith) later that week. On Tuesday, August 21, Brant Daughtery is back as Brian, and Will is none too pleased when he sees him getting intimate with Sonny.
Blake Berris returns as Melanie’s (Molly Burnett) stalker Nick Fallon, who is up for parole, on Monday, August 27. As previously reported, Nick’s mother Jessica Blake Fallon (Jean Bruce Scott) returns to Salem after a 30 year absence on Friday, August 31.
PREVIOUS, THURSDAY, AUGUST 9 5:59 PM ET: According to Soap Opera Digest, CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” has issued a casting call for a “new, hot guy.” According to the casting breakdown the show is seeking a “Male. Caucasian. 25-28 years old. Heart throb. Very Masculine. Edgy. Not afraid to get the job done. Bit of a cad.” It is a contract role.
Based on the description many on our SON Community Message Boards have been debating if this could actually be a recast of a current character on the soap opera or if it is truly a new character.
What Do You Think?
A “Days of our Lives” representative has confirmed to Soap Opera Network that when Blake Berris returns to the drama series beginning with the Monday, August 27 episode, his character, Nick Fallon, will not only be up for parole, but viewers will also be able to see his on-screen mother for the first time in 30 years!
Jean Bruce Scott, who originated the role of Jessica Blake Fallon in 1980 and last aired in 1982, will be returning to the NBC drama series on Friday, August 31.
Since leaving “DAYS,” Scott has appeared in episodes of “St. Elsewhere” and “Magnum, P.I,” and had a starring role in the series “Airwolf.” The actress also appeared in a number of episodes of “Port Charles” in the early 2000′s.
Ronn Moss was back on Twitter early this morning tweeting away to his nearly 40,000 followers.
“I want to make sure, without any doubt, that you guys all know how much I love you. Your support during this time and hopefully beyond is…Everything. I can’t say anything yet, but soon will explain. Hang in there with me, we have a wonderful new journey ahead of us. Try and not be sad, angry, disappointed,” Moss said over the course of several tweets. “It’s been a great run and all good things end eventually. As this door closes, others are opening I want u all to come with me through these new doors of opportunities and experience how cool it’s going to be. Have faith, b strong, I’m yours.”
In response to a fan, who tweeted him the below tribute video, Moss said, “Great clip. Thank you. Made me cry… New beginnings are happening all around us.” The video is a nearly 10 minute compilation of Moss’ work alongside Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke Forrester) and the other “core four” (aka: original cast members) of “B&B,” which includes Moss, Lang, and Susan Flannery (Stephanie Forrester) and John McCook (Eric Forrester).
As previously reported, Moss is expected to tape his final scenes on Tuesday, August 14 after 25 years of portraying Ridge Forrester on CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful.” Although a final airdate has not been announced, viewers can last expect to see the actor on the soap sometime in September.
After word broke on Saturday, August 11, that Ronn Moss would be departing CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” after 25 short years portraying Ridge Forrester, the actor has broken his silence on Twitter.
When @MarciaHarris7 tweeted Moss and said, “u will regret your decision to leave the show..u can’t just throw away 25 years like that. .and what about us? We don’t matter?” the actor responded to the tweet with much appreciation, but also added a cryptic message. Moss’ tweet read, “You matter so much. More than you know. Will explain soon. Please be with us. We need you more than ever. All of you. Love.” The actor gave almost the exact same response to twitter follower @katka1979, who tweeted Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke Forrester) and asked her to “please ask
@Ronn_Moss or @devindevasquez [Moss' wife] if Ronn really leaves B&B. I dont want him to leave. I cry, am sad.” Moss replied to the tweet and said, “Try not to be sad. Will explain in a couple days. Hang in there with us. We love you guys.”
What Moss (@Ronn_Moss) may be alluding to by saying he’ll explain in a couple of days is that on Tuesday, August 14, he will tape his final episodes as a contracted cast member of the drama series. He may not be able to speak openly about his reasons for leaving until his contract cycle has expired. Additionally, when CBS renewed “The Bold and the Beautiful” in November 2010, it was only a two-year deal that carried the series on the network through the upcoming 2012-2013 television season. With budget cuts expected in order to ensure the show continues beyond this coming season, it’s only logical that some drastic measures have to be made – including the loss of a major star like Moss, who reportedly refused a cut in his salary, which is the primary reason for his departure according to Entertainment Weekly.
I can’t even tell you all how much I LOVE YOU all so frickin’ much. You’re the best. The Best!!
— Ronn Moss (@Ronn_Moss) August 12, 2012
In a bit of irony, “The Bold and the Beautiful” is the only soap to increase its audience season to date (September 19, 2011 through August 5, 2012) in both households (2.4 vs 2.2) and Women 18-49 rating (1.1 vs 0.9) compared to the 2010-2011 television season (September 20, 2010 through September 18, 2011). Additionally, “B&B” went from a tie for fifth place (out of six soaps) in the key sales demo from the 2010-2011 season to a tie for second (out of four soaps) in the demo this season.
Hours after word broke that Ronn Moss would be departing “The Bold and the Beautiful,” fans of the CBS daytime drama series took to Twitter in order to share in their disappointment and they weren’t the only one’s. Moss’ on-screen partners Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke Forrester) and Hunter Tylo (Taylor Forrester) also shared with fans their feelings over the sad news of Ridge Forrester’s (Moss) upcoming departure.
In a conversation with @itsjustdouglas, who hoped she was doing okay after learning Moss would be leaving, Tylo (@TaylorMade4U) stated she was “cool with whatever Ronn feels he wants to do. He definitely has his own mind and knows where he wants his life to take him!” Meanwhile, in response to @TriciaJones10, who informed her fellow Brooke and Ridge (aka: Bridge) fans of what happened and revealed “we are all crying together!” Kelly Lang (@KatherineKellyL) agreed and said, “I am crying too! I hate this!”
