(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — As previously reported, “Days of our Lives” has cast daytime newcomer Francisco San Martin in the role of Dario Hernandez, Rafe (Galen Gering) and Gabi’s (Camila Banus) brother. According to sources, San Martin began taping his first scenes on Wednesday, January 5 and his first airate is scheduled for Wednesday, March 9.
“All My Children” Head-Writer Charles Pratt, Jr. has been released from his duties at the ABC soap.
Soap Opera Digest confirmed on Friday afternoon that controversial “All My Children” Head Writer Charles Pratt, Jr. has been released from his position with the ABC soap. Sources close to the matter indicate that the official announcement from ABC will be made this Monday.
(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Mark Hapka marks his steamy debut on Wednesday, June 17 as Nathan Jannings on NBC’s “Days of our Lives.” In this photo released by JPI Studios, Hapka gives actress Molly Burnett and her character Melanie Layton a welcoming surprise after the two meet under unusual circumstances.
In the last couple of years ABC Daytime has had a nack of hiring actors and actresses with Broadway backgrounds, most noteably Renee Elise Goldsberry (“The Color Purple”), as Evangeline Williams and Kathy Brier (“Hairspray”) as Marcie Walsh on ABC’s “One Life To Live.” Now the network has hired Broadway star Christian Hoff for a recurring role on “All My Children.”
Hoff, who can currently be seen as one of the stars of the hit Broadway musical, “Jersey Boys,” playing Tommy DeVito, is joining “Children” in the recurring role of Marty. Marty works for Zach Slater (Thorsten Kaye) at his casino as one of his henchmen. Hoff first airs January 30.
In “Jersey Boys,” a musical about Rock and Roll Hall of Famers The Four Seasons: Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi, we see how a group of blue-collar boys from the wrong side of the tracks became one of the biggest American pop music sensations of all time. Television credits include roles on such dramas as “ER,” “St. Elsewhere,” “Beverly Hills, 90210,” and “The Commish.”
Sources are confirming the exit of actress Marcy Walker from the role of Liza Colby Chandler on “All My Children.” Walker’s departure is on the heals of Amelia Heinle’s exit from the series earlier this month. Heinle had played Walker’s onscreen sister Mia Saunders beginning in 2001.
Walker previously departed “AMC” in 1984 to switch coasts to play Eden Capwell Castillo on NBC’s “Santa Barbara” from 1984-1991. From 1993-1995, Walker played Tangie Hill on the CBS soap “Guiding Light.” Walker returned to ”AMC” later that year to the role of Liza Colby of which she originated.
No last tape date or airdate has been set.
In other ”AMC” news, the soap may be seeking to cast a brother for Aidan Devane played by actor Aiden Turner. Details are still a little sketchy, but we will be following this development as more news becomes available.
