‘All My Children’ Celebrates Another Birthday with A Bright Future Ahead

Had “” remained on the air beyond its final September 23, 2011 episode, cast/crew and fans all around the world would have been celebrating the daytime soaps 43rd anniversary today, January 5, as the drama series debuted on this day in 1970.

Although “” debuted nearly two years before it, “” was actually the first soap opera created by that was geared towards the ABC Television Network‘s daytime audience. Initially, ABC thought the idea of “AMC” was too much for daytime television, especially with an untested series creator (Nixon), so the network asked the scribe to conceive a totally different soap opera (“OLTL”). With the success of “One Life,” Nixon was given the go ahead to move forward with “All My Children,” which took place in the fictional town of Pine Valley, Pennsylvania. The series debuted as a half-hour program and was owned by Nixon’s Creative Horizons, Inc. before being sold to ABC outright in 1975. “AMC” was expanded to an hour long serial beginning in 1977.

Happy Birthday to ‘Y&R’s’ Christian LeBlanc

Soap Opera Network wishes “” star Christian Jules LeBlanc (Michael Baldwin) a very happy birthday as the three time Daytime Emmy Award winner for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series (2005, 2007, 2009) turns 54 years-old today.

Joining the cast of “Y&R” all the way back in 1991, LeBlanc has enjoyed nearly two decades in Genoa City. Although he departed the role in 1993, LeBlanc returned to the CBS soap in 1997 and has remained there ever since. He brought his character from “Y&R” to “” for a couple of episodes in 2005.

LeBlanc appeared in episodes of “,” “,” and “.” Along with co-star (Katherine Chancellor), the actor appeared in a 2009 episode of “” just as the series was coming to a close.

‘Y&R’s’ Bryton James Turns 26 Today

Soap Opera Network wishes “” star a very happy birthday as the 2007 Daytime Emmy Award winner for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series turns 26 years-old today.

Joining the cast of “Y&R” in April 2004, James portrays the role of Devon Hamilton on daytime’s number one drama series.

The actor got his start on television when he portrayed “Little Richie” on the phenomenally popular primetime comedy series “.” The program premiered on ABC in 1989 as part of the networks TGIF lineup. The series moved to CBS for its ninth and final season in 1997.
