The Chew: FOOD. LIFE. FUN to Be Released Tuesday, September 25 by Hyperion
ABC’s “The Chew” returns for its second season MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 10 (1:00-2:00 p.m. ET), bringing with it a smorgasbord of exciting guests, culinary creations and tips and tricks to make life healthier, easier and, frankly, a whole lot more fabulous. Season Two will also continue to showcase the hosts’ signature series, including “Five in Five,” “Mario’s Simple Italian,” “The Power of Oz,” as well as “Clinton’s Craft Corner” and “C&C Food Factory.”
Katie Couric is the featured guest, stopping by to preview the first day of her new syndicated talk show, “Katie,” with hosts Mario Batali, Michael Symon, Carla Hall, Clinton Kelly and Daphne Oz.
On TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, Hyperion will publish The Chew: FOOD. LIFE. FUN, a companion book that gives viewers more to “chew on,” featuring seasonal recipes and commentary from the co-hosts.
For the first time since the show launched back in the 1980′s, the female co-host’s name in “LIVE!” will lead the shows permanent title when “LIVE! with Kelly” becomes “LIVE! with Kelly and …” That’s right folks, “LIVE!” has found its permanent co-host after nearly a year-long search.
The new season of “LIVE!” kicks off on Monday, September 3, when Kelly Ripa sits down as solo host for the first time. She had previously been joined by 59 different men and women with experience in all areas of broadcasting and entertainment since former co-host Regis Philbin left the co-hosting chair back in November 2011. That changes, however, when the show debuts that special someone (one of the 59 individuals already seen) on the Tuesday, September 4 broadcast of the popular daytime talk show.
Joining the new team on the special day will be actress Claire Danes (“Homeland”) and “American Idol” winner Phillip Phillips, who performs for the first time on “LIVE!”
UPDATE, THURSDAY, AUGUST 16 5:30 PM ET: A previous version of this article incorrectly included the line “Big Trouble at ‘Live! with Kelly?’” in its heading.
We apologize for the sensationalized heading, and have corrected it to include the core information. While “Live! with Kelly” did hit 20 year lows, which made that tidbit of information more noteworthy, it is one of the few daytime shows (talk or otherwise) to have been on the air as long.
Additionally, despite its lows, “Live!” was the third most watched talk show for the week. This in spite of the show losing 39 affiliated stations, representing 10% of the U.S.
In an interview with John Nogawski, president, CBS Television Distribution, Broadcasting & Cable revealed that Disney/ABC Domestic Television is spending roughly $80 million just to get its Katie Couric hosted talker, aptly named “Katie,” off the ground in the next couple of weeks.
“I think [Disney/ABC] cut a bad deal,” said Nogawski. “They did get very large license fees, but the majority of those license fees are attributed to ABC’s owned-and-operated stations. ['Katie'] is going to have to do a very large number for them to make money.” By comparison, CTD is spending roughly $30 million to launch “The Jeff Probst Show” ($24 million on production, $6 million on promotion).
(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — As previously reported, soap star and recent dancing fiend Jack Wagner was a scheduled guest on the daily syndicated talk show “Anderson Cooper.” The actor filmed his appearance earlier today at the New York studio of the talk show, which is scheduled to air on Tuesday, April 10 in national syndication, and was joined by his newly discovered 23-year-old daughter, Kerry.

When asked what meeting his daughter was like, Jack took a deep breath and fought back tears, saying, “Um, we hugged again, and I just knew this was her.”
Jack explained that Kerry had come to his concert in Florida hoping to meet him and brought an old photo of her birth mother and Wagner. Kerry managed to get backstage to her dad before the concert started. Jack said, “So I go to the backstage door and in rushes this crying girl, hugging me… I stepped away and she says, ‘You don’t know who I am?’ I said, ‘No,’ and she said, ‘I’m your daughter.’”
For the full interview, watch “Anderson Cooper” on Tuesday, April 10. Check local listings for time and station.
