UPDATE, TUESDAY, AUGUST 21 1:10 PM ET: A previous version of this articles title indicated that “Desires of the Heart” was an Indian film. Soap Opera Network has since been told that while the film will be made by an Indian producer/executive producer and co-director, and despite the film taking place partially in India itself, “Heart” is “not an Indian film.”
PREVIOUS, MONDAY, AUGUST 13 11:55 PM ET: According to The Hollywood Reporter, former “All My Children” starlet Alicia Minshew (ex-Kendall Hart) has landed a major role in the new film “Desires of the Heart,” which began production in Savannah, GA on Monday, August 13.
In the film, Minshew will portray the role of Madeline, a young artist who catches the attention of a psychiatrist visiting from India. While their romance blossoms, her new love is forced to return to India in order to marry the woman chosen as his bride by his parents.
Executive produced by Solila Parida and directed by James Kicklighter, with co-direction in India provided by Rajesh Rathi, “Heart” will move production to India after completing work in Georgia.
Val Lauren, who starred in the James Franco (“General Hospital”) directed 2011 film “Sal,” will portray the psychiatrist in the film. Lauren has previously appeared in episodes of “Felicity,” “CSI: New York,” and “Hawaii Five-0.”
No release date for the film has been announced.
UPDATE, MONDAY, AUGUST 13 7:32 PM ET: Via a posting on his Facebook page, Moss has confirmed he will be attending the book signing this Saturday at Barnes & Noble.
PREVIOUS, SATURDAY, AUGUST 11 8:17 PM ET: On Saturday, August 18, Lee Phillip Bell (pictured right, with William J. Bell) and Michael Maloney (Soaps in Depth), co-authors of “The Young and Restless Life of William J. Bell” will be signing copies of their book at Barnes & Noble Ventura from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM PT.
Joining the two will be “The Young and the Restless” stars Doug Davidson (Paul Williams) and Tracey E. Bregman (Lauren Fenmore). “The Bold and the Beautiful’s” Ronn Moss (Ridge Forrester) is also scheduled to attend, although it is unclear at this time if he will still take part after it was recently announced he would be leaving the drama series after a reported salary dispute resulted in his contract not being renewed.
Please Note: This is a wristband event.
The New York Times Best Sellers list is out and Jeanne Cooper (Katherine Chancellor, “The Young and the Restless”), who released her memoir “Not Young, Still Restless” on Tuesday, July 31, can rest easy knowing her life’s work is a raving success.
“Still Restless” debuted at #25 in the Hardcover Nonfiction category of the August 19, 2012 edition of the Times list. The book was written by Cooper with Lindsay Harrison. It was released by It Books, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers.
Best known for his portrayal of Lucky Spencer on ABC’s “General Hospital,” actor Greg Vaughan has joined the cast of NBC’s “Days of our Lives” in the contract role of Eric Brady. Vaughan tweeted a picture of his first day arriving at the shows Burbank Studio lot on Wednesday, August 8, where he said to his followers, “Here’s to to new beginnings’s!!”
For those new to “Days of our Lives,” or if you have forgotten, Eric Brady is the twin brother of Samantha “Sami” Brady (Alison Sweeney). He was last seen in town in July 2000 and was the first love interest of Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker), which was the basis of Sami’s long standing feud with Nicole. The role was previously portrayed by “Supernatural” star Jensen Ackles.
Ironically, despite Vaughan signing on to play Sweeney’s on-screen twin brother, the two actors began filming the Hallmark Channel original movie “Two In” in late June. The film finds Sweeney portraying a single mother working at a 911 call center who answers an emergency call from a firefighter (Vaughan) in desperate need of help after he broke his leg while fighting a fire. As the two find themselves drawn together due to circumstances beyond their control, they begin to wonder where their mutual attraction will take them. The film is set to have its world premiere on the Hallmark Channel sometime in 2013.
Based on the current filming schedule for “Days of our Lives,” fans of the series can expect to see Vaughan on-screen as early as November.
In addition to his stint on “GH,” Vaughan also appeared as Diego Guttierez on “The Young and the Restless” and most recently appeared in ABC’s primetime soap “GCB.”
Based on the Vertigo comic book series “Y: The Last Man,” which produced only 60 issues in the span of nearly five years (September 2002 to March 2008), “Y: The Last Man Rising” is a fan film that tells the story of Yorick (Travis Quentin Young), an artist who must be protected at all costs in order to ensure the continued survival of the human race. Special Agent 355 is the one tasked in protecting him by any means necessary. In July, IGN Entertainment debuted the film online that stars former “General Hospital” and “General Hospital: Night Shift” actress Kent King (ex-Dr. Lainey Winters) in the role of Agent 355. King co-produced the film alongside her husband Christian Cardona, who also served as writer, producer and director of the 21 minute long film.
In addition to King, the film features “an ensemble cast, including my good friend and fellow ‘GH’r’ Bergen Williams,” said the actress to Soap Opera Network. “A few of the other cast members have soap history as well. And if you look/listen really really closely, you can spot my bestie Minae Noji [ex-Dr. Kelly Lee, "GH" and "GH: NS"]. It also stars Travis Quentin Young, Rebecca Marshall, Vida Guerra, and Traci Dinwiddie.”

Based on one of the most critically acclaimed comics of all time. A mysterious plague has wiped out all men on the planet, and women are left to pick up the pieces of society. The only surviving man is Yorick, an amateur escape artist who is the key to the continual survival of the human race. Special Agent 355 is tasked to protect his life at all costs. Luckily, she’s really good at her job…
IGN and Drake 1129 Productions are proud to present this new short film, made by super fans of the comic. Jack explained that Kerry had come to his concert in Florida hoping to meet him and brought an old photo of her birth mother and Wagner. Kerry managed to get backstage to her dad before the concert started.
