Considered the Oscars for the young, The CW Television Network announced in early May that it’ll broadcast “The 15th Annual Young Hollywood Awards,” which marks the first time the awards show will be broadcast on television. Earlier today it was announced Michael Levitt (“The Billboard Music Awards”, “TV Land Awards”, “Scream Awards”, “Producers Guild Awards”, “World Music Awards”, “A-List Awards” and “ALMA Awards”) would be the executive producer of the telecast. The awards celebrates the best emerging talent in film, music and television.

With movie star Jake Gyllenhaal unavailable due to a scheduling conflict, Disney is in the process of signing Billy Magnussen (ex-Casey Hughes, “As The World Turns“) to take over the role as Rapunzel’s prince in the studios Rob Marshall directed “Into the Woods,” reports Deadline Hollywood. The film is an adaptation of the 1987 Broadway musical and will be produced by Marc Platt.

Also starring in the film are Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Chris Pine, Anna Kendrick, James Corden and Emily Blunt.

Magnussen was recently nominated for a Tony Award in the category of Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play for his performance as Spike in “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike.”

“Into the Woods” is scheduled for release Christmas Day 2014.

According to Deadline Hollywood, “Magic Mike: The Musical” is heading to Broadway. Per the website, producers are actively working to turn the Channing Tatum blockbuster film about male strippers in Florida into a musical with Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey set to write songs, and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa signed to write the book for the Broadway version. The film, released in 2012, was directed by Steven Soderbergh, who along with Tatum, Reid Carolin, Gregory Jacobs, and Nick Wechsler serve as producers on the musical.

And I was like, ‘What if MJ is a dude?’ Why can’t we discover that Peter is exploring his sexuality? It’s hardly even groundbreaking!…So why can’t he be gay? Why can’t he be into boys?” The actor recently completed filming on “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” which is not expected to introduce Peter Parker’s (Garfield) well known love interest just yet (the character was not included in 2012′s “The Amazing Spider-Man”).

According to Deadline Hollywood, the former soap star has been cast opposite Maria Bello (“Touch”), Lucas Till (“X-Men First Class”) and Tom Everett Scott (“That Thing You Do!,” “An American Werewolf in Paris”) in “Strings,” directed by rookie Daniel Duran.

Pictures and Dark Castle Entertainment has released the first teaser trailer for “Getaway,” starring Ethan Hawke (“Training Day”) and Selena Gomez (“Wizards of Waverly Place”), which finds former race car driver Brent Magna (Hawke) pitted against the clock to save his recently kidnapped wife Leanne (Rebecca Budig, ex-Greenlee Smythe, “All My Children”).
