Movies and TV shows have stemmed from books (“Twilight,” and “True Blood,” anybody?), but it’s a rare day when TV shows and books are created simultaneously to create an integrated storytelling experience. But that’s about to change! As ABC preps for the premiere of the new reality series, “Whodunnit?” (an interactive program that puts amateur sleuths’ investigative skills to the test in a mystery murder reality competition), executive producer, Anthony E. Zuiker (creator of “CSI”), has teamed up with Hyperion Books to release a series of novels that will be released along with the series to enhance the viewing experience.

On Tuesday, March 12, during the east coast broadcast of ABC’s “General Hospital“” (2:00 – 3:00 PM ET/11:00 AM – 12:00 PM PT), fans of Kelly Sullivan (Kate Howard/Connie Falconeri) will be able to tweet live with the soap star as she discusses her characters. Yes, her characters!
In the episode, Connie Falconeri is releasing her first novel titled “Love in Maine,” which is in actuality a corporate tie-in with Disney/ABC Television Group’s Hyperpion Books, and the site of the launch event turns into a scandal when Molly Lansing-Davis (Haley Pullos) and TJ (Tequan Richmond) show up with Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and Shawn (Sean Blakemore) to assert their claim that Connie didn’t write the book – Molly did. Will Kate back them up? Meanwhile, Sonny has a hunch that Connie has reemerged and goes in search of her. Who will he find when he finally tracks her down? It is a book launch party that cannot be missed!

Victoria Rowell, author of “The Women Who Raised Me: A Memoir” and “Secrets of a Soap Opera Diva,” is back for an all-new release entitled “The Young and the Ruthless,” which is scheduled for release on Tuesday, March 5. The last time People Magazine offerred a collector’s edition of a soap opera was in September 2011, when the mag celebrated the life and history of the then canceled “All My Children.” This time the magazine is celebrating the continued life and history of “General Hospital” with a special 50th Anniversary collector’s edition that finds Luke and Laura Spencer (Anthony Geary and Genie Francis), Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms), Sonny Corinthos and Brenda Barrett (Maurice Benard and Vanessa Marcil), Duke Lavery and Anna Devane (Ian Buchanan and Finola Highes), and Jagger Cates (Antonio Sabato Jr.) gracing the cover.
While millions of fans may love the tantalizing tales of the Forrester’s and the Logan’s on CBS’ ”The Bold and the Beautiful,” many of them may not think twice about what it takes to make the world’s most watched daytime soap opera come alive each and every weekday. In a new book released earlier this month by Sourcebooks, entitled “Becoming Bold & Beautiful: 25 Years of Making the World’s Most Popular Daytime Soap Opera” with foreword by the soaps “core four” Susan Flannery, John McCook, Ronn Moss and Katherine Kelly Lang, the hardcover release provides detailed insight from the 1987 debut year of the soap to present day. Included throughout are over 200 photographs featuring cast and crew members on Stage 31 of CBS Television City in Los Angeles, and on location in Malibu, Cabo San Lucas, and Aspen.

While it is unknown when the message was first posted on her official copy written website, Brenda Dickson (ex-Jill Foster, “The Young and the Restless“) is apparently promising to release a “Tell All Book” in the next couple of months that will begin with highlights of her experience at the “canceled” CBS daytime drama series (say what?) and ends with her time in Hawaii. The site says that if you want to know what happened in the tropical state with Dickson and other assorted matters, “read the book, my friends. You will learn a lot about what you think goes on, and what really goes on. Who really runs the country!”
The message in its entirety can be viewed at http://www.brendadickson.com.
Note: Dickson alleges some serious matters including sexual harassment from the deceased William J. Bell (creator of “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful“), something about the “Mafia,” and claims that she’s telling all now that “Y&R” has been canceled (the show has not been canceled).
