THIS WEEK ON: ALL MY CHILDREN

Ricky Paull Goldin

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Dr. Jake Martin returns to Pine Valley with scars.

THE GREEN MOVEMENT

Annie simmers when she spots Ryan comforting Greenlee. Jake describes the harsh realities of his life in Darfur to Greenlee but explains that he needs to finish his work there. Greenlee’s refusal to help does little to deter Jake’s will to make an unauthorized exit out of the hospital. Greenlee finds a collapsed Jake. Aidan explains to Greenlee that no one survives a war completely unscathed. Greenlee is clearly unsettled as Aidan brings up the topic of them starting a family. Kendall advices Greenlee to share her true feelings about parenthood with Aidan. Greenlee informs Aidan that she never wants to be a mother. Aidan questions why Greenlee was once so desperate to have Ryan’s child but refuses to even consider having his.

Erica is greatly relieved to learn that everything is fine between Zach and Kendall when they come to pay her a visit. Jack and Kendall’s phones get mixed up as they’re leaving the prison. Thinking she’s calling Kendall, Erica inadvertently lets Jack know about Kendall and Aidan tryst. Erica has no choice but to confirm her slip but urges Jack not to reveal anything to Greenlee.

BITTER AWAKENINGS

Amanda encourages a dejected Annie to fight for Ryan. Ryan surprises Annie with a picnic in the stables and apologizes for forgetting their anniversary. Annie’s emotions get the best of her as she confronts Ryan about seeing him with Greenlee the night before. Ryan’s memories of Annie begin to flood back as she turns to walk away from him. Annie is finally convinced that Ryan is telling her the truth. Ryan and Annie make love but Ryan is clearly conflicted about his feelings. Ryan confesses to Kendall that although he now remembers Annie, he doesn’t remember loving her. Upon overhearing that tidbit, a hurt Annie decides not to reveal to Ryan that his vasectomy never took.

THE WHEEL OF KARMA

Dixie continues to taunt Adam. Dixie’s admission about her own mistakes does little to convince Adam to change his mind about keeping Tad in the dark. Krystal questions what Tad would do if he found Kate living with a family that she loves and that loves her. Dixie realizes she can still feel love as she experiences anguish over not being able to reach out to JR. JR works to have his father committed after he admits that Dixie is haunting him. Tad hits a roadblock in his search for Kate. Stuart believes Adam may really be seeing Dixie but JR won’t hear of it. Sydney Penny

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Just as the Hubbard clan reemerges on “All My Children,” the Santos clan fades away.

Several weeks from today’s date, “All My Children” will be Santos free for the first time in over fifteen years. Sydney Penny, who plays Julia Santos, has been let go from the ABC serial.

Penny, now 36 years old, began her daytime career on NBC’s Santa Barbara where she portrayed incest-survivor B.J. Walker from 1992-1993. The actress then landed the role of Dr. Maria Santos (Eva LaRue) younger and troubled sister, Julia, on “AMC” and began airing in September 1993. Paired with Keith Hamilton Cobb, in the popular interracial pairing of Noah and Julia, Penny rose to the pinnacle of her daytime fame. The actress exited the soap in December 1996. Penny’s next contract role was on CBS’s “The Bold and the Beautiful” where she played Samantha Kelly from 2003 to April 2005. Penny returned to “AMC” full-time in August of 2005.

The Emmy-nominated actress has also enjoyed shorter soap stints on NBC’s “Sunset Beach,” FOX’s “Beverly Hills 90210″ and the WB’s “Hyperion Bay.” At 12 years old, Penny appeared in the popular ABC miniseries “The Thorn Birds” as a young Meggie. Penny also appeared on “The New Gidget” and “TJ Hooker,” as well as a slew of made-for-television movies.

Sydney Penny married Robert Powers in 1995 and they welcomed their first child, Chasen August Powers, on May 31, 2007.

Watch for Penny’s exit to coincide with a tragic set of events that occurs after Jesse and Angie’s (Darnell Williams and Debbi Morgan) May 21 wedding.

“All My Children” airs weekdays on ABC and weeknights on SOAPnet. Check local listings.

Dixie corrects Adam when he rationalizes that his medication is causing him to hallucinate. Dixie informs Adam that she won’t be leaving his side until he reveals the truth about Kate to Tad. JR and Krystal worry about Adam’s mental health. Adam turns to Opal for help. Dixie taunts Adam as Opal tries to oust the unknown spirit Adam claims is haunting him. Opal soon becomes fed up with Adam’s attitude and leaves him to fend off his ghost for himself. Dixie continues to play tricks on Adam. Adam realizes that Dixie still loves Tad. Adam asks a concerned Stuart to talk to Dixie and get her to leave him alone.

Tad and Jesse track down Dr. Madden’s assistant, Hazel, to a seedy bar she runs just outside of town. Unaware that the two men set the scene up, Hazel is putty in Jesse’s hand after he protects her bar from being robbed. Hazel is clued into what’s really going on when her bouncers drags a snooping Tad into her bar. Hazel can’t help but be affected by Tad’s emotional plea. Facing blackmail of his own, Richie blackmails Annie for money and threatens to expose her lies to Ryan.

    CASUALTIES OF WAR?

Zach explains the situation in Darfur to Ryan. Ryan and Zach work together to come up with a plan to help Aidan rescue Jake. Meanwhile, in Darfur, instead of taking the opportunity to escape, Jake chooses to save the life of the wounded rebel leader. Aidan is successful in his plot to be captured by the same rebels holding Jake hostage. Zach surprises Greenlee when he tells her he’s arranged for a way for them to monitor Aidan’s whereabouts. ‘AMC’ May Sweeps Notebook

    By Angela Rosa

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — “All My Children” keeps the drama moving on-and-off-screen.

    AMC Logo

    CONTRACT ACTOR NEWS

    - The role of Colby Chandler, daughter of Adam Chandler (David Canary) and Liza Colby (Marcy Walker), has been recast. Twenty-five year old Brianne Moncrief will replace nineteen year old Ambyr Childers in May.

Childers began playing the role of Colby Chandler in July of 2006. After a rough start, Childers managed to do an admirable job in turning the young Chandler into a fan favorite and many fans of the ABC soap will be dismayed to see the actress go. Childers will last air on Monday, March 5.

Moncrief will show up as the new face of Colby starting on Wednesday, May 7. Moncrief’s television credits include appearances on CBS’s “Guiding Light” and HBO’s “The Sopranos.”

An “All My Children” spokesperson relates that the actress switch was storyline dictated. The educated guess here is that the soap felt that Childers’ look was to young to fit into the young adult storyline her former character is headed into with Frankie (Cornelius Smith Jr.), Dre (Sterling Sulieman) and Cassandra (Yaya DaCosta).

    - In a letter to his fans, Jeff Branson recently confirmed that his relationship with “AMC” will not continue past his current contract which expires in June 2008. Don’t expect a goodbye scene for the youngest Lavery brother; much to everybody’s surprise, including Branson’s, Jonathan Lavery last aired on December 18, 2007. The Emmy nominated actor will hold an event in June to say a proper farewell to his fans, for more information on that event follow this link: http://www.fourthhourproductions.com/jeffbransonparty08.html

    - Leven Rambin, Branson’s oft-time on-screen leading lady, is wanted at “AMC” but clearly doesn’t seem to want the ABC drama back. As far back as last summer, the actress announced her intention to leave the show at the end of her contract cycle. Her characters, Ava Benton and Lily Montgomery, have not aired on “AMC” since February and will continue to stay off-screen for the foreseeable future. Rambin is having little problem with staying in the spotlight without the soap. The seventeen year old Emmy nominated actress recently guest-starred on NBC’s “Lipstick Jungle” and is keeping the gossip pages busy as she gives out Brooke Shield’s (the star of “Lipstick Jungle”) alleged tanning secrets and is romantically linked to men twice her age. Rambin’s contract with “AMC” will expire in June.

Ricky Paull Goldin premieres in the contract role of Jake Martin this week. Yaya DaCosta premiered as Angie’s (Debbie Morgan) daughter, Cassandra Foster (also a contract role), on April 25.

    – Watch for another rare Palmer Cortlandt (James Mitchell) appearance during the week of May 5, and expect to see a larger dose of Opal (Jill Larson) than normal during the next several weeks.

    RECURRING ACTOR NEWS

    - Speaking of contracts, it has come to Soap Opera Network’s attention that Elizabeth Rodriguez role of Carmen Morales is not a contract role. Upon breaking the news of the hiring, Soap Opera Digest had reported the role as being contract and SON initially ran with that information. The actress is among “AMC’s” top three favorite recurring characters of the moment, the other two of course being Mario Van Peebles (Samuel Woods) and David Rasche (Robert Gardner).

MAY SWEEPS: SPECIAL GUESTS, RETURNS, AND LOCATION SHOOTS

    - R&B band B5 serenaded Erica Kane (Susan Lucci) outside of her prison lock-up on April 25th.

    - Cady McClain will reprise the role of Dixie Cooney Martin starting on May 2nd for a limited run. Expect the bulk of her scenes to be with, but not limited to, Adam Chandler. Though back on a mission of healing and reunion, it seems as if ghost Dixie will also get to exact a nasty case of karma on her ex-husband who aptly got her locked up in the loony bin with his nasty tricks twenty years earlier!

    - Look for Caroline Stephanie Clay to return as Hazel for a couple of episodes. To get information about Tad’s (Michael E. Knight) long missing daughter Kate, Tad and Jesse try to worm their way into the heart of the deceased Greg Madden’s trusted former nurse. Starting on May 6th, look for the best buddies to confront Hazel at her new gig at The Sunshine Bar.

    - Billionaire Warren Buffet will play himself on May 8 and 9. Expect Buffet to offer his old pal, Erica, some surprising advice.

    - Laurence Lau, who played Greg of AMC’s super couple Jenny (Kim Delaney) and Greg from 1981-1986, will return for a couples of episodes starting on May 20. He’ll be reunited with Tad, Angie and Jesse for some reflection and of course to attend Angie and Jesse’s second wedding. Tad is his former brother-in-law and Greg and Jenny were Angie and Jesse’s best buddies.

    - R&B singer Ne-Yo will serenade not-so newlyweds Jesse and Angie at their wedding reception. The singer-songwriter will perform “Closer” and “Stop This World” during his May 21 and May 22 guest stint.

    - Big weddings usually beget big drama, and this case is no different. The new Mrs. Hubbard will be swooped into a helicopter by Robert Gardner for a kidnapping instead of a honeymoon. TV Guide Canada is reporting that Knight, Williams, Morgan and several other “AMC” cast members were spotted in sunny Los Angeles over the weekend and reported that they were there for a location shoot.

“All My Children” airs weekdays on ABC and weeknights on SOAPnet. Check local listings.

      ‘Top Model’ Joins ‘AMC’

      By Angela Rosa

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Has “All My Children” cast the beautiful girl that will steal Dre’s heart?

      Sterling Sulieman

Angie (Debbie Morgan) and ex-husband Jacob’s (Darnell Williams) adopted daughter, Cassandra Foster, arrives in Pine Valley on Friday, April 25. The character of Cassandra debuted on the cancelled ABC soap opera “The City” and will now show up on ABC’s “All My Children” played by “America’s Next Top Model” Season 3 runner-up Yaya DaCosta.

DaCosta, a Brown University graduate, was born on November 15, 1982 in Harlem, New York. Since her time on “ANTM” the Ford Model has appeared in several music videos including Kanye West’s “Gold Digger,” and Sean Kingston’s “Beautiful Girls.” DaCosta’s acting credits include a starring role in the motion picture “Take The Lead” which co-starred Antonio Banderas. The actress earned a Teen Choice Awards nomination for her work in the movie.

Expect DaCosta’s Cassandra to be thrown right into loads of drama as soon as she steps foot in town. Along with adjusting to her mother’s not-so-new boyfriend Jesse (Darnell Williams) and his striking resemblence to Jacob, ABC reports that Cassandra “will be pulled into the sinister plan Rob (David Rasche) has for Jesse.” Expectations are that Cassandra will be romantically linked to Dre Woods, played by the very handsome and underutilized Sterling Sulieman.
