“The Young and the Restless” is saying goodbye to actor Jason Canela (Arturo Rosales). The actor announced today on social media that he is leaving the soap after just one year.

“I feel blessed to have been a part of something so special!” said Canela in a prepared statement. “I appreciate each and every single person that makes up part of ‘The Young and the Restless’ family! Our makeup team, our crew, our security! Without them, there is nothing the team behind the camera is what makes it all worth it.”

Further commenting on his departure, Canela said, “When I signed my one year contract with ‘Y&R,’ I was excited because, for the first time in three years living in this city, I was able to call a studio like Television City home. Add to that the incredible people I’ve had the pleasure of working with who I’ve been lucky enough to create genuine relationships with like Peter Bergman [Jack Abbott], Melissa Ordway [Abby Newman], Jordi Vilasuso [Rey Rosales], Sasha Calle [Lola Rosales], and Noemi Gonzalez [Mia Rosales] just to name a few…(sorry guys, but Peter is my favorite). I feel blessed to have been a part of something so special like ‘The Young and the Restless’ family. It’s time to run the page and see what beautiful stories I am blessed enough to be a part of next.”

While thanking the fans for embracing him on the show, Canela promised the Rosales family wasn’t going anywhere despite his departure. “I want to send all my love and positive vibes to the ‘Y&R’ fans who have been so welcoming since day one!” he said. “I appreciate the love, and no worries, the Rosales family will still be cooking up some drama in Genoa City so keep looking out for them and showing them all the love they deserve!”

At press time, it was unclear whether the show has plans to recast the role, or if the character is leaving with Canela.
